As of 5/28/2025, after 250+ hours of gameplay, the game will no longer boot up.

I've tried re-installing, deleting shader caches, uninstalling REframework (which is basically needed to run the game smoothly at all), rolling back my NVIDIA drivers, re-installing again, restarting my PC a dozen times, nothing works. The game was already in a spotty position with performance, NEEDING frame generation to even play at a stable 60+, and frankly this game should've never been released until next year. Capcom NEEDED to make a quota in order to hit their yearly 10% annual growth for the higher ups so they pushed out an unfinished game in all aspects out the door hoping it would work, it did, but the goodwill I had for CAPCOM going into this release is gone. I will now wait months after their next release to see if it's even worth it. I've put nearly 1300 hours into World, loved it, and this game has the bones to make World feel like a mid-game, but currently with the lack of difficulty, the performance issues, and the overall just inability to even boot the game up, I cannot recommend this anymore to anyone.

thanks anons. i was able to beat the glavenus. his hp pool was huge but if you just target the head he goes down eventually. well, i had some help from... a sandpit, two thrashings by a diablo, and the fight was still pretty long...

he dropped enough loot for me to make a pretty cool fire sword, so i'll use that for the weasel. i had to go back and kill the lavaiosloth. actually that fight was way more fun than the glavenus. even though i was "overgeared" it was still fun especially when both the azure drake and the rolly polly got into a 3-way fight with my target, everything was exploding everywhere and i was smashing with my tuna. actually i think the tuna isn't great here, the damage was pretty low so i think the lavasioth resists or is immune to ice.

i practiced a bit doing the headsmash with the laviosloth, i wasn't quite able to do it but i'll practice some more, it seems useful to be able to do

Anyway, NOW is a decent facsimile of MH gameplay in a pokemon go style walk-around grinding format. It surprisingly doesn't feel like shit to control or mashy, you have to know what you're doing. But it's a phone game with every bit of bullshit that entails, and good fucking luck to you if you don't regularly pass lots of notpokestops every day. I live out in the sticks and I would never get enough materials to make shit, so I gave up on it ages back.

It’s only simplified in that hunts take max 75 seconds (150 vs elders). The combat itself is indepth and doesnt have any lame gimmicks ruining it. In fact it has some great systems like lack of random staggers and proper difficulty scaling so that even shitmons like Girros and Beotodus are threatening and you have to learn how they work in order to not eat shit. You dont want to get hit at all because you only get 5 free potions a day, but its very realistic to avoid getting hit that much as long as you get good

That depends on what you mean.
If you are looking for truly optimal weapons (4x ATK 1x Sharpness or 3x ATK 2x Sharpness generally speaking), it is an utter abomination.
But the thing with the Artian system is that even a significantly suboptimal Artian weapon casually invalidates 99% of a weapon's other options and is usually BiS. So in that sense, the Artian system is very "forgiving".
Of course, this is an entire problem in itself, because even dogshit Artian weapons casually invalidating 99% of the other weapons is horrenduous game design, because that removes any and all incentives to even craft monster weapons. Artian weapons also look ugly as sin and there is no layering, so holistically, it is one of the worst systems they have ever come up with.
But Wilds is terrible game design all over the place so the Artian system doesn't stick out as much.

Some styles lose out on vital attacks for very little benefit and the vast majority of the roster isn't balanced around hunters being able to instantly negate attacks like some styles can do. People using the two instant evasion arts to get out of trouble for free instead of any of the more fun/interesting ones goes along with that. Still fun though, and I appreciate having more ways to play each weapon even if they aren't balanced very well. I hope they continue to expand upon it in future games.

actually, i was kinda stumped how to kill this guy because (and he has this in common with the last few) he runs around like a headless chicken all the time.
ultimately i did him crit draw. one attack, roll, sheath, reposition, attack, roll, sheath, etc.


i didn't really want to do that because i think it's lame but... man, the timing is so tight on hitting him during a charge. you have probably... 10 frames? to have your hitbox hit his nose. and spacing doesn't work, he just keeps charging until it closes the gap. it's not a very satisfying enemy to fight with greatsword.
i feel like if i end up having to do all the bosses like this i should give up on the greatsword and use a different weapon.
well, to be fair, i was playing it on my steam deck, and controller is a lot less precise on aiming. it's pretty annoying, but hey comfy is comfy and a win is a win.

i also discovered the free meal gem which is incredible, it procs on max potions and it's great.

The game is good but they ate a big fat dick on optimization and support.
The game needed too high of a spec to run decently and then of the people that could run the game the first major patch broke compatibility to 12thgen intel with a PS controller would make the game crash the whole PC, fucking over even the people that were high enough spec to play it. I liked the "endgame" and combat focus mode aside. I made full sets of elemental artians for several weapons and got all my decos. I like parry and instant guard slop, though I do miss lance's cross slash. Just waiting to see what they do for the rest of the supposed balance changes before I finish grinding out hr999 and then go back to fucking around in Frontier afterwards

Define good. If you're expecting post world monhun to be hard before endgame you're delusional at this point. It's been almost a decade it's time to accept reality. If you're expecting a lot of content that likely won't happen either unless they straight port some rise monsters which is definitely something portable team would do but we don't know just yet. Anything else will likely follow the standard portable design philosophy of making things faster and giving players more options/tools. I really enjoy the game feel and how combat flows but my gripes are everyone else's, it's too easy, not enough to do not enough quests not enough mons and the multiplayer experience is subpar. The game runs okay on my system, not amazingly well but okay. but I have long since run out of things to do and upgrades to pine for, usually what keeps me going in a game is setting myself goals and trying to optimize my build slowly and methodically but in Wilds you get so many mats and rare ones also that I never go "damn I really want this gear let me sit down and grind for it" because chances are I already have what I need and worst case I do like 2 hunts and I will get it.

Oh also Arts are fucking lame, I cannot believe that was Capcom's idea of end game time sink, the ugliest fucking weapons imaginable and they completely outclass all of the monster weapons I cannot bring myself to use them because they are just so hideous.

They don't usually post sales updates that regularly unless it's breaking record after record. Usually you have to wait 3 months for the next report. You can check wilds right now it's #191 for top sellers on steam when it was #1 at launch and even a month ago it was at like #70. Sales are slowing as expected but probably a bit faster than normal because of the low player count and shit review scores and general negativity around the game. Think about it you're new to monhun and want to try the newest game
