In the end, she literally has to take over Kageaki's/Muramasa's law of balance to portray the author's opinion that murder can never be justified and always comes at the cost of a moral price, no matter the circumstances.

In Haruka's route, Haruka monologues about how this is "the first time Riki-kun has accepted her invitation to visit her home" right after she invited him for the first time, implying that it has happened before.
Later in her own route during the bad ending where Haruka jumps in front of a car and kills herself, Kanata comments on these events almost casually and fed up, saying that she never wants to experience this sight again.
There're a lot of hints and foreshadowing like these in the VN that wouldn't be possible if characters didn't remember previous routes.
