I think Fallfest makes the most sense as the setting for the next game, but as a modern reopening instead of a prequel to the prequel. Make it a sequel to both SB and SOTM with Mimic and Vassie (Vanny Cassie) going up against Vanessa, Gregory, M1/F10NA and an older Edwin (yes I believe he lived and that he occupies a similar role to his book counterpart in the modern era)

I don't understand the design decision behind the way the Mimic works. There's all these animatronics everywhere in a game where the monster is supposed to be able to possess any animatronic but the only times he appears are in preset zones as a boring roaming monster. It also makes a big deal out of the Mimic copying behaviors but every animatronic he possesses acts the same. And I still don't understand if Jackie and Big Top are the Mimic because those are two of the big setpiece monsters but don't really make sense in regards to how the Mimic seems like it works.

Did you all like SotM? I have seen quite a few mixed reviews on it. Some of the criticism I get and agree with. Others I don't really understand. I overall really liked it. I think it is a big step-up from SB and Ruin. The game breaking bugs are never okay, and I think the save system is not ideal. There are also parts like Big Top which are tedious. The rest of it I liked. The White Tiger, Moon, and Nurse Dollie sections I like the most.

The people acting as if it's total dogshit are trying way too hard, it might not be the most groundbreaking thing but it's easily among the better games in the series and I don't really think that's up for debate. It's an improvement on Security Breach from every angle and I think if this had released first there wouldn't be this animosity towards "modern FNAF" which caused many to not even give the game a chance in the first place. I understand why a lot of people enjoy playing Security Breach but I personally can't take much enjoyment in something I don't think is very good, and I enjoyed SOTM a good amount

The biggest problem is that The Mimic feels heavily underutilized. He only gets a handful of scripted appearances and doesn't even wear most of the costumes, most of times. So, once you figured out his seeking patters, he stops feeling like a major threat.

Theres a section near the end where you are playing an essentially reverse OG FNAF that you solve by placing springlock suits in certain locations. When the battery hits 0 the game autosaves in the last suit you placed. Problem with this is that the doors all lock and remain locked on loading the autosave so if you place the wrong suit last you get trapped. F10-N4 wants to stop Fazbear Ent. from getting the blueprints so they don't repeat the same mistake. She wasn't working with M2, she wants to turn it back to good and prevent others from replicating it.
It isn't clear to me why M2 wants the data diver. Considering how they framed it (surprise! he wants the data diver), I'm guessing the cliffhanger will be answered in a future game (or book). My only guess is M2 is trying to protect Fazbear Ent. from getting to F10-N4, since that gives the data diver allows people access to the deepest parts of the facility where F10-N4 is locked away. That is only speculation on my part though.

I'm pretty happy about that. At first I thought White Tiger was kind of lame like oh okay whatever, some random easter egg hallucination thing sure. I changed my mind when you get to his section and he's teleporting around trying to creep you out. They also did a good job of making him creepy. He does this one pose where he's crouched down looking like he's ready to strike while he's looking directly at you. Also seeing his eyes glowing in the dark and him being so big he blocks the hallways really helped sell his intimidation.
I think that highlights what made the series so good in the first place. Although you had clearly creepy looking designs like the FNAF 1 group, you'd have stuff like Toy Freddy staring at you in the hallway, slightly bent down to get a better look at you. It is all about how you sell it.

Personally I think people simultaneously overlook both the immense success and damage of Security Breach, it was probably the biggest the series has been since the original few games but it also understandably turned a lot of people away. I think he's correct in saying that it ultimately had a positive impact in how it opened new doors for the franchise and extended its lifespan, though SOTM (despite being a legitimately good game and a monumental improvement in nearly every aspect) evidently hasn't had nearly the same impact and that sorta indicates diminishing returns for this direction of the series. Which I don't think necessarily reflects on the games themselves, because i've observed how the online narrative surrounding this series has shifted since the beginning and I remember the reaction to everything past FNAF3 amongst everyone outside the fandom being "that thing is still going? crazy how much he's milking the same copy paste jumpscare simulator kiddieshit, dead franchise + should've ended at 3". People put the blame on shit like the rise of "mascot horror" but this is just how it's always been and probably always will be, only difference now is that most of the people saying this today are people nostalgic for everything before Security Breach and hold a level of contempt for everything after Security Breach (despite the fact we only really have two games in the free roam style and one of them does it infinitely better than the other. I also remember how excited people were about the prospect of free roam FNAF before the game dropped the ball). I think the main attraction of Security Breach was the graphics and big pretty map for sure and 7 years passing by before a "big" fnaf game was made.
