The game tracks how many times you use certain spells and there is one consequence for using the bad ones. The game also tracks how you treat people and there is one consequence depending on nice/generous or mean/selfish. Otherwise it's just a nice cinematic action exploration game with a fun character building system in the form of learning new spells in class rather than just leveling up and selecting stuff. It's one of the better games in the past several years.

The entire combined tau empire is smaller than the holdings of some space marine chapters and has fewer combined citizens as well. The scale is such that the tau are ultimately irrelevant.

Things also aren't perfect there. Non-tau still get worse equipment than tau and you're not going to see a human or vespid battlesuit pilot any time soon. Vespid also had their physiology manipulated to better fit inside the tau empire and there is some evidence to suggest the ethereals are not opposed to doing it again.

Additionally, the imperium was an advanced technological marvel with a high standard of living for a long time too, until they had an ai revolution that killed half of humanity when their robot servants rebelled. The tau are currently an advanced technological marvel with a high standard of living society that has robot and ai servants doing a lot of the work for them. They just haven't had their crisis event yet, they're on the same trajectory the imperium was on.

Additionally, one of the main advantages the tau had over humans is that their souls are so bland and uninteresting to demons that they have mostly gone unnoticed by chaos, but the most recent lore is that the tau have recruited enough humans and other non-tau species into their midst that they now have their own minor chaos god and they've been having to fight chaos more often, so they don't even have that plot armor anymore, which allowed them to evolve and advance to where they are now mostly unmolested while the eldar and humans bore the heaviest of chaos's meddling.

So no. The ticket to "winning" in 40k is creating some kind of barrier between the warp and realspace so chaos loses influence. Whether that requires technology or faith or what we don't know yet.

I just explained why. The tau are on the same trajectory as the imperium, so jumping ship to them doesn't make sense since they just haven't had their ai revolution that ruins everything yet. Additionally, the reason the imperium is hardline and brutal is because those are measures required against how chaos works, and I just told you how chaos is now noticing and interacting with the tau more, which means they are going to adopt those same measures soon. Just because they give you 3 square meals a day and a higher quality gun compared to some shitty hive world doesn't mean it's actually meaningfully better in the long run. The best bet for humanity is still to support the emperor as much as you can and hope he figures out a way to either strike chaos where it lives or put up a really good fence.

That's something for big picture logisticians and rulers to look at, I'm asking what, if anything, would be a reason for the average Imperial citizen to prefer living in the Imperium VS living on a T'au world. Three solid square meals a day VS constant starvation is a pretty big deal, by the way, and that's just ONE of innumerable horrific things the Imperiums citizens deal with on a constant basis. If anything RT does a great job illustrating why entire worlds just flat out switch sides to the T'au when they encounter them since it is simply better for all involved to be part of the Greater Good than it is to stay in the Imperium.

I told you the reasons a person wouldn't want to do that. If your premise is that you're only talking about an ignorant person who isn't aware of the reasons he wouldn't want to do that, then you've already answered your own question. Someone who is ignorant would indeed think it's a better idea to join the tau, because he doesn't know better. We with our outside observer knowledge know it's a bad idea, but the character who doesn't know anything would be fooled into thinking it's a good idea with a few trinkets and meals.

The more a character knows about how chaos works and what the emperor does and the history of the imperium vs the history of the tau, the less likely they are to join the tau. Thankfully, there are a lot of random average joe's in the imperium who are ignorant of all those things, but are just faithful or indoctrinated enough that they refuse to join the tau for religious or indoctrination reasons. Most people are taught that xenos will try to trick you into doing their bidding and betraying your race, and in this scenario it's true, and the indoctrination against xenos is performing its intended function.

I mentioned it because the game gives you several quests where you have the choice to betray your mission giver or another syndicate, and there are consequences in the form of the syndicate reputations, which carry several of their consequences and bonus/malus. It's actually a rather fun game with a few cool systems in it, but it's still an ubislop game so I'm hesitant to say it's truly great.

Oh, and I loved playing sabacc. So the game has enough to say it's good imo, it just has a few of the usual ubislop pitfalls too.

Please help me out here. Am I fucked if they die in nashkel? I went to the church in nashkel village and couldn't purchase the revive option. I asked chatgpt and it said I had to 'carry' them out first.I went there again and this time all of them were gone so I reloaded and it turns out I can't carry them. WHAT THE FUCK CAN I DO? What's the point of having a mechanic to let you revive companions if having them die here makes me unable to revive them?

Yeah the reputation was good though once maxed out it makes the game so easy. You can just go into wherever you want and even then it's very hard to fuck it up unless you deliberately antagonise them. Sabaac was great. I had a lot of fun with that. I also really enjoyed the system on how you unlock new abilities. Having to do missions and feats for certain things made it more fun instead of just a boring skill tree. Space combat was fun too.

This isn't even going into the fact that having elaborate fetish fantasies and getting your crew involved in them is taking steps towards slaneeshi brand chaos corruption. Like the other guy said, each mythic path has an alignment set for it (mostly) and in the case of Angel, Azata, Aeon, and such, they have to be aligned so the path overrides your normal one. You can usually get around it somewhat with the scrolls of repentance or whatever it's called that set you to original alignment if I recall. I had an issue playing a Gold Dragon paladin before where GD has to be neutral good and pally has to be lawful good.

It's all starting to come together.

I bumped con to 9 last time I tried this build for last stand, fulfilling the thematic theme of the immortal Scathach, but I did fucking nothing with it. If you have to use Last Stand at all, chances are you already lost. Planning for maximum damage this time. I prefer spears over sledges because of the versatility sweep and throw spear bring.

How to fix Crusades mode in WotR

If I want to know about a lore thing in the game, like with the names of the gods, creatures or where I am in the world I'll just consult the wiki, which I have done already. People read manuals back then probably because there wasn't as much information available back then online as there is now and because consulting the internet would've been less viable.

A much faster and better idea is to just play the game while consulting third parties for things that confuses you imo. That could be a manual or the internet.

I can process information just fine, I simply don't want to have to read a technical book before I'm allowed to play a video game.

I'm having fun though. If I stopped the game now and forced myself to read a book before I could continue, my overall experience with baldurs gate would deteriorate greatly. About resurrecting them, they always resurrect without wearing/holding anything. Typically, ideally, this is over their dead body and their stuff is just sitting there.
What I would do, and it still isn't safe I think, but I'd put all the loot into that chest in the other room while you go resurrect people. If you can't afford to resurrect everyone, consider some strength potions for the ones you can.

Monk is a very schizo class, it needs strength to attack, needs dex to defend, needs con for HP (but to be fair everyone does), needs wis for class ability and more AC since it can't wear armor, the only stats you can "safely" dump are int and cha. It can't use normal weapons because of unarmed strike, even when it has the biggest unarmed strike die you are usually outperformed by tanky mcnigger swinging his greatsword. You have huge mobility but flurry only works when you're standing still. You have one-shot abilities which scale off your SECONDARY stat and need a successful melee attack (not even a melee touch attack!) to deliver and still allow a save.

In very rare cases when you can pump stats ridiculously high and add multiple stats to AC. This doesn't happen often on tabletop but it's easy in computer games because you usually have high levels and OP items. But in general AC is a shitty defense because attack bonus increases with level (and strength is very easy to increase) while AC does not, or it does so much slower than attack. Even a heavy armor nigger gets outpaced quickly when the max AC of +5 full plate is +13 and the average full BAB class gets +20 BAB just by levelling, and that doesn't include weapon enhancements, class abilities, weapon training, etc. It's generally better to defend yourself with stuff like miss chances and mirror image.

To add on to the thing about battle barks not being canon, they're mostly written to be agnostic to your development with the character, outside of cases like BG3 where you have some fully replacing their VO after events and stuff anyway, or WotR lich route companions.
So for writing battle barks or selection lines, they're going to go from the baseline for the most part, including before events where Yrliet decides to call you elantach, or just because they need to fill out three or four lines so it's not always the same "pay with your blood" or such.

so i just played about 40 hours of neverwinter nights. i had heard the base campaign was bad and multipler is the real point but i wanted to see for myself. i just started act 3 and decided to stop.
it really is quite bland.

encounters are thoughtless compared to baldur's gate (just spawning 15 of the same mob, instead of nicely balanced mixtures of melee/range/caster/stealthies).

the fact that 90% of every container is locked and/or trapped, means that you spend a ridiculous amount of time waiting for your henchman to unlock/disarm stuff, unless you play a rogue yourself. you can't justify choosing any henchman besides tomi the rogue for the same reason. he has terrible ai and will regularly ignore your orders and instead run off to fight zombies halfway across the map.

loot is all samey, there's a few generic types of item and you just pick the best ones for your class and then upgrade them over time from +1, +2, etc.

dungeons are overly long and filled with masses of the same enemy mob and 400 locked chests that contain 15 gold pieces and vendor trash. by the time i quit i had 400,000 gold, with nothing to spend it on.

the actual combat is fun enough, satisfying to mostly carry the game, but i'd be curious to see how a mage-type would handle the thousands of trash enemies the game throws at you without constantly running out of memorised spells.

main story is fine, side quests are generic, writing is passable, but this is really a dungeon crawler more than anything.

i love the graphics/aesthetic, although the interface is heinous both visually and functionally.

overall my experience was a 6.5/10, mostly frustrating with some occasional moments of greatness, mostly attributed to the little vignette side areas like charwood in act 2.

starting at 3 and walking into the town and seeing the exact same tileset as act 2 just sucked out all desire to continue. i'm gonna switch to pillars of eternity i think, i never beat it when it came out.

In BG3 the problem is that they tried way different strategies in each act and they don't mesh together at all. Act 1 is a series of sidequests. It doesn't feel like that in the first playthrough because you will be more immersed and focused on exploring and trying new shit but story-wise you can go straight to act 2 without involving yourself with the grove or the goblins. You don't even have to visit underdark. This isn't bad for a starting area as it allows players to get the hang of things. Act 2 reverses course completely. You have one singular goal that overshadows everything and you can't progress without completing it. Every sidequest is also intrinsically related to that main goal one way or the other. And then you get to act 3 where the climax of the story is and the threat is more imminent than ever and the game goes: "go ahead, fuck around for a while, explore the city, go sightseeing, visit the brothel, the quakes?, don't worry about it". It provides a visible path to the end goal but puts no pressure on you to pursue it and lets you play in a more open world style which doesn't make any sense. You either build the whole game like that or you build an earlier act like that. If you would swap the structures of act2 and act3 the game would flow much better.
On the other hand encounter design clearly deteriorates as the game progresses. There was more though put in the encounters in the temple of jhergal than it was put in the whole of act 3.
