The DD gatekeeping of T6 is a non issue, really, since all of T6, with the exception of the Rad Suit Mk5, is designed with the DD and its content in mind. There is no need to move beyond T5 for Hagga Basin content. Its a survival crafting game with a PVP endgame. T6 is 100% designed for the PVP endgame.

In a survival crafter, the ultimate goal is to beat the game by surviving, and they are typically designed where the things you need to make your life easier to maintain are harder to get. Not so with this one, where surviving comfortably is done very early on. Therefore, there is no pressure to ascend the tech tier levels at all once you get to, say, iron, it just makes it easier. Tier 4 is really the sweat spot, because after that resource gathering and generation become unworth the advantage they providing in staying alive. T6 has absolutely no point in existing at all other than giving PVP'ers fodder for idiots that must have the shiny thing they really dont need. T4/T5 maxxing and then logging on once awhile to power your base and pay your taxes while Funcom figures out what the fuck they are going to do with their game is where its at.

Dude, Ive never been in the DD because I looked at the research display, noted what T6 composed of, and decided it was not worth the effort. And PVP is optional, since Ive seen plenty of youtube videos of people going into the DD and never encountering another player, and if you do, if you have configured yourself properly, you can outrun any gank squad until they drop chase. But even then, its not worth the effort to do so when what I got in HB is perfectly fine for the task of processing HB.

Didnt read the rest you clearly struggle with what "optional" means. Daily reminder that Funcom cut PvE servers and modding explicitly because they wanted to grief people.

My server's DD this week has just been held hostage all hours of the day by this 20 man guild that always seems to have people on overwatch over the 3 big Titanium spots and never lets a spice node get touched by anyone else. None of the solos want to bother trying to group up to gather together, and any reasonably sized guild has already lost thopters to them when they attempted to fight back so it's a lost cause. Hopefully the devs never curate a DD this sparse any time soon after this.

The problem Funcom has with this game is that Dune as an IP attracted the crowd of normie nuDune fans, and they are not the typical crowd that was attacted to say Conan Exiles or other similar titles. They have different expectations, and those expectations are not going to be met by the development culture that is imbedded into Funcom. And they are going to hear about it far more than they did with Conan; a lot more people are going to be exposed to how bad Funcom are at game development than was the case before.

you missed that part. Non-optional PVP is when you actually have to engage in PVP to get what you want. There are plenty of people that have gotten T6 stuff without seeing another player once. So its completely optional. Just not practical. And again, you dont need T6, so why bother chasing after it? The only reason to have T6 weapons is for DD dungeons, thats it, and all that rewards is stuff you really dont need and honestly should not want.

Made this for myself but anywhere in the Aluminum wall is is imo, the best place in the game. You need many times more aluminum than other resources, the road around the cliff in the middle is a loop, allowing you to drive in circles for it. The crystals for cobalt are just a short drive NE. The other two Keys are resources in NPC camps you will always need more of. You can sell at the Atd fort, and have two trade ports nearby, you also have easy access to carbon/iron by just driving off the cliff face and heading East for carbon and once you get 50% carbon, keep going and you arrive at the Anvil trade area which is filled with Iron.

The only downside is the lack of local science stations and ship wrecks, but assuming you get a thopter shortly after arriving this should be your own far away trip.

There are imo two viable ways for an endgame base: build in the south of the shield wall, this has the advantage of giving you the best access to all resources.
Or you can build near the northern edge of the map so you have the shortest possible transfer time to the world map. This still gives you direct access to alu but especially Sheol and the Rift will be a bit of travel (which is somewhat negated by high tier vehicles making travelling and farming a breeze).
Both approaches have their merit.

To give you context the Bene trainer is in the Atreides fortress, her quest requires you to grab two books (guarded by enemies but can be avoided/dodged as you wont be able to kill them in early gear) and then go back to her. To go from the Iron zone (which is the zone you enter after you leave the tutotiral) it took me about an hour or two to make the trip from Iron to fort to both books and back with a bike, fuel and some spare water.

Its your call on whether its worth restarting the for that, personally I don't think so. Bene is best when combined with Swordmaster and his quest is even more annoying, it requires you to go to 3 spots and they are massively separate. Ignore the red blob on this image its the purple icon second from the top where she is.

Trooper is in the starting zone, you get it within 10 minutes of starting, Mentat is also super easy and just east of the iron zone you can do it right after finishing the tutorial zone. i had to make the hangar/garage external. i tried shaving off the top of the pyramid to fit the landing pad and it stopped looking like a pyramid. i tried attaching it directly to the pyramid like a deck/patio and it was too large relative to the size of the pyramid and looked bad.

i built on a very steep hill so half of the interior of my pyramid isn't accessible. with the flat land you've got, you might be able to integrate something a bit more naturally. almost the whole thing is made out of parts form the incline and wedge wall categories. use the screenshots ive posted for ideas on using those shapes.

I use it to go from my main base everywhere. I have dedicated outposts atop the shieldwall and in Sheol; to farm aluminum I just pocket the thopter and drive out the buggy for mining. To mine in Sheol I shive the inventory on the thopter. For everything else, thrusters. I tend to use the overworld map as fast travel to cross the map (e.g. exit north, enter south). Faster and more fuel-efficient.

i started off with 10x10 foundation blocks because that's the max that will fit in a single advanced fief plot with no stakes, so that's everything you see from the 'cut' into the pyramid and upwards. that's essentially the 'core' where all of your actual base internals go. because of my weird slope i had to extend out a bunch of 'fake'/hollow shell foundations to reach the ground below that point so that's is going to vary based on the shape of the land you're building on.

Honestly agree with pretty much all of this. The game needs more focus on survival and player vs environment difficulty but they gamified so much of it that there's absolutely no challenge or dynamism in the environmental survival.

Which means the only thing to actually do in the game is gear up to PVP. They had a really good opportunity here but they screwed it up big time with how unchallenging basic survival is. Everything is too close together, too easy, too convenient.

The worms give you a full 10 seconds warning to leave every single time by doing that long breach animation. You never have to worry about being eaten unless you're a straight dumbass. Why aren't worms actual entities and when they aren't around, you have all the time in the world to do what you want, and when one is, you had better have watched for it and not gone out there or else you're dead. Why can't you play around the worm's movement, and if you're at the tail end of one you're safer than at the front of it?

Every part of this game is designed for the lowest common denominator instead of actual humans.

This game is a casualfest

The only mechanics that look remotely involved are in PVP which is at the end of the PVE grindfest and is probably killed on arrival by the shit netcode. This game could've been something if they managed to pull off Planetside 2 but Dune.

Everything else I have seen in this game is as superficial, shallow, and thoughtless as it can possibly get. There are no survival mechanics, there are grinding mechanics. Worm could literally be replaced with a death timer on sand and nothing about your playstyle would change. The entire game is just fancy graphics and visuals plastered over a completely hollow shell.

This is the sort of game you play for a couple weeks and then forget it exists, there is absolutely no staying power here. A lot of the same problems so many other PVE games fall into: Devs don't ever realize that PVE means Player vs Environment, not Player Grinds Forever. The best parts of survival games are the challenges involved in achieving survival. Grinding 10,000 rocks to make a Car Mk2 is not fun or engaging or interesting. All actual PVE content in the game - needing water, avoiding the sun, avoiding the sandworms, and navigating without dying - are completely trivialized; water is plentiful, the sun won't kill you, the sandworms are just long-winded death timers, and there's not even fall damage to punish bad driving.

I don't know what exactly they were planning here. I can see a shitload of potential, but nothing they can actually reach with the fundamental design they have. Everything this game could be is completely squandered on making it as retarded as possible in pursuit and reverence of the retard audience.

I am a stricly PVE player, but its obvious from a game design standpoint that T6 is the PVP tier. Its just not necessary for non-PVP content, but because its better they want it. Funcom has a problem, however, in that the majority of the playerbase is purely PVE, and they are touting this as a live service game (unlike Conan Exiles), which means that player number matter. Funcom went into this thinking they could get away with a PVP endgame, but they did not account for the popularity of the IP bringing the locusts of normies that demand new content. They made the base survival crafting aspect of the game easy in order to funnel people into the endgame as fast as possible, and that will bite them within a month.

It's not hard to understand, the worm is timer based, there is no "proximity" to it (excepting your idiotic insistence about it triggering faster when closer - which is immaterial to the topic and suggestion to begin with). You are in proximity of the worm no matter where you are on the map, it always triggers, it works just like a timer. Nothing you have argued has described it working as anything but a timer, and my suggestion was to change it away from working like a timer.

as the resident rift goblin, ill say that it's only for the most kino of individuals. there is in fact a no-build zone going down the center lane of the majority of the rift, but there are a few zones that can work for you. try looking to the sides of the ramps leading down into the rift from either side. there's a sort of large 'cubby' or u-shaped inlet on either side that has the same height/depth/layers of the rest of the rift but isn't no-build-zoned off because it's not on the main road through the middle.

I prefer the very northwestern portion of the western vermillius gap, near the ironworks places and west of the crashed ship. Plenty of iron, carbon is just across the northern gap for steel, aluminum has a buggy path to the left of said carbon. This spot is very good for the mid game, the only thing that kinda sucks is cobalt but you can still just go east of the carbon and down into the rift. Just gotta make note of the drivable path(s) out of the rift. One buggy trip is probably more than enough for any solo cobalt needs, at least for MANY hours.

Eventually once you are solidly into the 'I only care about aluminum and duraluminum+' tier, it might be wise to make a new base across the gap from this spot, to the north. For even quicker access to both aluminum but also to be closer to the edge of the map for fast travel purposes.

I don't have it saved, but another anon made a nice map showing this area with the resources and paths marked out. Hopefully someone can post it.

i usually only use dindu sprint and i switch it out for another CC ability like compel when i'm fighting in-doors. i still don't get the people that literally travel around like that, though. the distances are never really far enough to require it and it annihilates your suspensor/battery charges.

What's the meta skills for melee combat?
I was unable to do anything worthwhile against two terrible enemies earlier. Knee charge works fine against npcs but against players is majorly terrible.

Why on earth are people crying about the DD so much. If all you care about is making top tier stuff you can just buy it on the marketplace for fairly cheap. I could not find anything about someone having a similar bug. I've noticed that there was another advanced sub fief in my name deeper into the map. One i definitely did not put down. And i have to pay taxes for it too. Today i went to check in, and there's a fucking giant base there. I could not acces the vehicles, but everything else, the chests etc, i could dig in. Also i found the sub fief but could not interact with it.

You can't backup more than one vehicle at a time. The UI on the backup tool is misleading like that because it shows all vehicles you've made, for whatever reason. You cannot make another backup tool for a separate vehicle either, you just have one universal tool for one vehicle, period. If something is backed up and you get eaten and lose that tool, just make a new tool and you magically have your vehicle back. Its nonsensical but it is what it is.
