They definitely were trying to lure the persona audience in by linking the gameplay loop and characters interactions, which is interesting.
The Axis dungeon's paths get unlocked by gaining party members SLs points, in theory this could’ve been great, but again, the execution feels very underdeveloped, like it’s a mobile game thing, not vitaesque definitely.
Also, at the moment Figue isn’t really helping at all with this drone owl thing, it’d be much better if she was an actual navi instead of a glorified MGS-style exclamation mark, at least there’d be less of the cast’s constant comments about the enemies.

Most of the better elements of the game doesn't show up until near half way when the iron mask twist is fully revealed. The game is better at launch where it didn't even have a sprint button for some fucking reason until months later. I like the boss fights being challenging and the options for how to build the party members with what passives you can give them with the main dungeon being tied to dialogue choices, but most things story wise doesn't get to be great for a while as the game is building up to the reveal. It's 100% not as good as SH1 was, but I enjoyed it. Do note for me personally, it doesn't take as much to satisfy me with vidya unless the game does something stupid.

The jump to Izanami wasn't out of nowhere. It was always clear there was more to the gas station attendant. You could talk to the attendant multiple times in the story, and still not notice that he only shows up in the rain which is suspicious.
And only a filthy gaijin would see the protagonist summon Izanagi, listen to a short retelling of the Izanagi mythos, and not realize that at some point Izanami has to be included in the story.
It was a great twist for a mystery story that occasionally tries to pull one over on the player. It does a decent job at deceiving the player, while still being out in the open.
One of the few great parts of P4.
