I really thought i'd buy this game and enjoy it even though i already know the story, but i hate what the story become and the ending so much that i just CBA anymore, im more likely to buy FF16, Metaphor or BG3 on sale even though i know stories of those.

If what i value more is the story and not the game, if the decisions in game dont really affect the story - this is not BG3 or mass effect. This is pretty linear story. I also greatly enjoyed Nier Automata watching streamers play, and i bought it. Havent played it yet, i might. I love it.

The game is great but doesn't have any kind of staying power as a /vg/ general it would seem.

The problem with (discussion about) the game, is that the ending is pretty much the only thing you can discuss and debate about.
And that's basically what kept the thread alive for the past month and a half or however long it's been.

But we don't have any dedicated schizos who post their anime waifu over and over to keep the thread bumped like other smaller /vg/ generals, because it's not that kind of game. It's also like a 30-50 hour singleplayer RPG so there's not much you can really disect from it beyond the first 20 or so repeats of the same conversation.

if anyone's interested, there will be a /coe33/ soccer team playing in a tournament hosted by the /4ccg/ general here on /vg/ (basically a general for modding 3d assets in to a CPU vs CPU soccer game with teams that represent 4chan generals or boards). it won't be until august though.

if the general survives a bit i'll happily post my model ripping progress to contribute to bumps, there's actually a lot of cool things in the files i've found that either in the game's files but are never visible in the game like Sciel's baby, or have hidden easter eggs in some textures that are only visible with a model viewer.

how do those tournaments work btw? I was a PESfag until 21 when it died, but I never got into the 4chan tournament. Does every player get all 99 stats or does every team get a budget or something? Are you allowed to make tactical changes mid match?

I disagree. The game really benefits from at least a second playthrough for the story alone. It's a much different experience going through with the knowledge of the ending. Also you can get quite a bit out of knowing a lot of gameplay stuff you didn't quite kniw the first time around and it's fun to completely obliterate the game on the rerun. After that, yeah, You're kinda done with it.

That being said, I don't even totally get the point of bringing up replayability. Seems to me like an irrelevant attribute.

most tournaments follow what's called a "Medal system". gold medals are all 99 stats like you said, silver medals are usually 88 stats, and normal players get 77 stats.
each tournament differs on the amount of gold medals and silver medals you can have. the usual is either 2 golds and 2 silvers or 2 golds and 3 silvers.

for the /coe33/ team i'm entering it into a side-tournament where the rules are more loosey-goosey compared to the tournaments that the 4chan boards or the other /vg/ generals compete it.
we have no gold medals but six silver medals. our star striker is gustave, who isn't a medal at all. he gets subbed out at half-time for verso.

during the official tournament matches yes, there is a streamer and two managers on IRC that send instructions to the streamer for what they want their team to do.

the "big one" is the 4ch&n Cup, which is what /4ccg/ is based and named off of. It's all of the boards of 4chan competing together.
the /vg/ board in particular has its own tournament called the /vg/ League where different generals on /vg/ compete. this is the second most popular tournament. the teams that finish well in the /vg/ League go on to create the /vg/ team for the main 4chan cup where /vg/ competes, where each team that does well gets 1 representative on the /vg/ team.

there are also side-tournaments inbetween the gaps of these tournaments called invitationals, which are usually tournaments where you can make any kind of team you want. just import in the 3d model and you can make a team about /starwars/ or your favorite anime, or whatever the fuck you want. /coe33/ will be entered in to one of these tournaments

they have rules where your general needs to be alive for at least 6 months before being applicable for entry. this general probably won't make it that far, so i'm entering it into one of the "make whatever team you want" side tournaments happing in august instead

I have, and I've won in one of the major tournaments.
I would recommend watching this match if you're interested in seeing what the tournament is about since it was one of the greatest matches with heroes /vg/ going up against villains /mlp/
