I've done all the bosses solo as well, after they buffed solo, it's probably same difficulty as group, maybe even a bit easier for some bosses.
But multiplayer is just more fun to do

Rise has better co-op integration without waiting for eeeeeeeach friend to watch a cutscene first for each monster and the fights are more strategic by virtue of being more complex.
World is second best if you download mods that remove cutscenes and two gameplay mechanics called "clagger" and "clutch claw". By being more "grounded" you can predict your friend's position easier w/o communication which is a co-op plus nobody ever mentions, but maybe it's just the netcode.
Wilds is irredeemable, don't even bother.

Wilds Is Cooked — Here's Why
1. The Performance Albatross
Wilds was delayed two full years and still runs like it’s gasping for air on many mid-range PCs. That’s not a patch problem — that’s a systems-level rendering bottleneck. The RE Engine wasn't built for seamless open worlds, and Wilds' implementation of it is clearly duct-taped together.

This problem is not fixable without deeply compromising content fidelity or gutting the entire renderer. At best, performance patches will be marginal. And while console users may tolerate it, the Steam base — particularly in Asia — will not. Every day that passes locks in the game’s reputation as a technical failure.

2. Fundamental Design Misread
Capcom appears to have fundamentally misunderstood why players loved World:

It wasn't because of a sprawling narrative. It wasn't because of voice-acted NPCs.

It was because it felt like a raw, organic hunting ecosystem, where monsters interacted and challenged you. Wilds strips that down to a glorified theme park:
Overly scripted monster behaviors. No friction in exploration or crafting. Focus mode and inflated weapon counters = autopilot combat
And worse — build diversity is gone, thanks to Artians outclassing everything. The endgame is solved on week one. Streamers quit. Theorycrafters disengage. The loop collapses.

3. PR & Update Strategy Makes It Worse
Capcom’s strategy has been:

Say nothing, Push microtransactions and cosmetics, Dripfeed minor content (Tempered Mizu, Seregios) as though they’re major events, Delay any major response

The longer they stay silent, the more the narrative ossifies. Right now, Wilds is perceived as bloated, easy, ugly, unfinished, and insultingly shallow. Even if that’s not 100% true, it doesn’t matter. The damage is already baked into the community psyche.

in pre-5th gen you do spend a long time waiting for him to come down, and that wouldn't even be that big of a deal if he didn't spend 90% of the hunt pelting fireballs at you, which also wouldn't be that bad if he he didn't also back up and the fireballs didn't have windboxes, making it so barely dodging the fireball was actually more dangerous than getting hit directly by it.

Literally just put a small team of actual programmers on optimizing the game and fixing all the fucking bugs like crashes and shader issues, and then I might boot up the game sometimes despite the nonexistent monster hunter formula thanks to the game being so casual. At Valve they were able to release constant updates to SteamOS that made the Deck pull +10% FPS and -10% battery drain for multiple updates.

Rise maps are very ample to maneuver around them, I never had any issues with his mud you can even just squeeze between them to reduce the contact area by a half. All they do is trigger his charge so you can catch him at the end of the animation.
People love AT Velkhana (superior in Rise as well) yet his ice puddles that make your character enter a sliding stance coupled with the slopes in every area he goes are 50x more disruptive than Barroth mud puddles could ever be.

You have these extremely large open maps, which could be explored, but the seikret has an auto-guide feature that takes you right to your destination. You get so many different ways to deal with monsters (offsets, perfect guards, perfect dodges, wound popping, mounting, and so on) and the movesets for your weapons are so fluid that most monsters are pushovers, while the few monsters that aren’t pushovers end up feeling more annoying than hard. It feels like the few “hard” monsters in wilds just have movesets that are meant to waste your time by keeping you from being able to attack the monster. Now, well obviously, there’s moves that are meant to make the player back off (such as full body hitboxes), but there’s a lack of feeling tension with the monsters moves - and that’s the consequence of making the combat extremely fluid. It honestly feels like the monster hunter series is basically one installment away from having a combat system that’s almost identical to a combat system like sekiro.

Maybe this is just the me speaking, but I honestly think that what modern monster hunter is missing is jank. I believe that the jank of the old gen games is what gave the combat tension. Because the jank made monsters less predictable, players need to be more aware of what’s happening around them. For me personally, I believe that needing to be aware of what’s going on and being cautious is a core part of monster hunter in general. You need to be cautious of what’s around you, because you are a mere human in a domain of giants. Without needing to be aware and being able to just waltz in, it feels like monster hunter has lost a critical part of it that made monster hunter so satisfying.

I don't particularly like Barroth, but figuring out how to consistently get full partbreaks even in village was a genuine challenge that was satisfying to complete even if it's only because he has too little HP before MR and his breaks are stupid.

Try a slicing bowgun for the tail and hammer for the rest. Downgrade your buddies' weapons if you take them and flash him whenever he goes to start rolling in the mud since reapplying the mud armor means you have to break it off before you can start damaging the part again. Use axe attacks to let you be in sword mode. Use sword attacks to fill the outer yellow gauge. Once the outer yellow gauge is full you'll be exploding phials on every sword attack.
The best way to charge all of your gauges at once is by hitting the big counter wirebug skill since just spamming attacks is too slow.
