I figured out why nobody did the swap - Justice's model is fucking GONE from modern archives alongside with tons of other stuff leaked back in the day. I don't think people made a copy. Is there some sort of an archive of Helldivers files from release? I'm not sure if I can really dig through all that however, I looked into model swapping and it seemed doable for me, but scouring the files might be impossible.

Not really. It does pretty terrible damage, the bullets aren't guaranteed to hit even on homing mode, and even on manual the bullets are still super slow so you have to get really close for them to have a chance to land if the target is moving.

That being said, it's still kind of a funny weapon, and the homing bullets can be handy against Elevated Overseers and Shriekers. But no, don't rely on it to actually kill anything that isn't chaff, if you want a reliable AP3 sidearm the Verdict and Talon are much better.

Is there a single automatic primary that feels good to use on bugs, and doesn't run out of ammo almost immediately? I feel like you need medium pen to deal with hive guards, green spewers, and commanders, but the medium pen options feel like they run out of ammo to quick (adjudicator, reprimand) or don't do enough DPS to kill stalkers fast enough before they get you (lib pen).

The golden way to save primary ammo is to offload work to a target flexible support weapon with good ammo economy. If you don't wanna go that route and instead carry something like dedicated AT you might wanna consider the lead free alternatives like the sickles for example. Scavengers are shitty little call for help machines that are easy to miss, pouncers and hunters move around the map quickly and actually attempt to dodge your fire, hive guards mixed in help block stray shots, warriors and commanders make up the bulk that actually just comes at you in a conga line, chargers are a breakthrough unit that fucks you up, impalers keep you moving, bile spewers serve as a ranged option and they actually stay in artillery stance often and keep shooting at you from distance unlike the fucking barrager tanks and bile titans chase you down and force you to take your eyes off the ground where rest of the bugs are.
Meanwhile Bots just conga line you. Troopers? Conga. Devastators? Conga. Rocket Devastators are notorious teamkillers because they just fire into other's backs. Scout Striders? Conga. Tanks? Conga, even barrager tanks. Factory Striders? Believe it or not, conga.
Do me a favour - next time you play bots, just run away for a bit without fighting and then hide behind a rock or something. You'll get a conga line of every unit just slowly making their way up to whenever you are, possibly teamkilling each other like the fucktards they are.

I think the primary objective is to make Leviathans an ever-present level hazard that you can't ignore and have to either run away from and pray it doesn't notice you or actually engage with everything you have to bring it down. It only partially accomplished this in all of its iterations, the problem was that its second-most recent variant was too oppressive across all distances, where even if you were 200-250 meters away it would snipe you from across the map through incessant ragdolling.

The problem with this is that they respawn almost instantaneously, they take an entire recoilless pack to take down ONE, and theres typically four of them on the board a time.

Assuming one player specced to take out these things managed to do so. They would basically be wasting the entire resupply pod drop on shooting these things down. Which barely matches the spawn rate per mission.

It honestly feels like they just crap out enemies and numbers, and then they let the community bitch and tweak things for them.

The Redeemer technically isn't bad, but I rarely see it anymore, it feels like most people don't use it. Same for the Bushwhacker and Dagger.

I would argue that the Peacemaker is better because it'll actually hit what you're aiming at. Unguided Warrant bullets are still as slow as guided bullets, so the target has to be stationary in order for you to hit it. You also don't need AP3 against the vast majority of chaff, so the Peacemaker not only does more damage but also has more rounds per magazine and more spare magazines.

Redeemer used to be a straight upgrade over the Peacemaker (I remember some Anon saying he uses it in semi-auto as a bigger magazine Peacemaker back before people didn't even have Senator unlocked yet) but nowadays it's left in the dust even by Peacemaker and Peacemaker is pretty fucking shit. It hasn't even been touched for over a year, so it's still stuck in Alexus era of balancing, except the blanket secondary nerf recently that make it even worse than it was. It also has double the drag factor than it used to, for whatever reason.

The AA emplacements do, which is honestly pretty cool. I just wish they'd give you a head's up if you happened to be in the danger zone before getting Eagle-1 crippled for repairs. An orbital shield that serves as the inverse to AA could also be pretty cool.

No, that's the issue - Automaton tanks are so shit they cannot even keep their distance and fire at you. The only planets they even work on are the bugged flat ones because otherwise the amount of bumps and random ass rocks just means the tanks lose sight of you almost instantly and they cannot move fast enough to reacquire it, and because of how they're built they also have fuck all depression on their guns.
And yes, Automaton squads at least splitting to provide cover fire while half of them advance would be great, just as them actually splitting to try and flank you so all those patrols aren't stuck in a single line behind a rock. At this point I'd take anything though, the most pressing issue for me is Rocket Devastators killing other Automatons for me, so I'd love to see them start firing the rockets in a (shallow) ballistic trajectory so it goes over the heads of bots in front instead of slamming into their backs and teamkilling them.

Worst part is, with the introduction of the Factory Strider Convoy secondary objective, Arrowhead tweaked the terrain generation so that the convoy would always have a relatively flat path across the map that they'd traverse. Meaning they could theoretically add that same tweaked terrain generation to missions with weighted higher tank spawns to make them more of a threat.

Man I just want a main objective where you have to run around disrupting multiple armored convoys of Automaton tanks and halftracks before they leave the map. Why can't we have cool things?

Dev in charge of most of the weapons. Decided somewhere along the way that primaries would struggle to kill anything bigger than chaff, and even struggle killing that. 2. Purifier literally trivializes any bot encounter that isn't a heavy, and even then trivializes heavies that have heatsink weak points. You don't need to aim, just charge shots and go for center mass. It massacres Berserkers and Devastators, it shoots down Gunships, and has a rapid fire option for dealing with Conscripts.

3. For the rest, as everyone else pointed out, anti-tank weaponry. The AT launcher of your choice blows up Fabricators without having to step foot inside, and kills Hulks and Tanks in one to two shots. Thermite can be stuck onto Hulks, Tanks and Fabricators for free kills.

alright, but you made it clear now that you don't actually mean both a damage increase and auto-targetting weakspot despite your original choice of phrasing. center mass with a slight damage increase is a fine change, no problem with that.
but if you go the other route of auto-targetting weakspots it's going to need a damage reduction, probably in the order ofdoing around 50 damage. that way it still 1 shots the lowest forms of chaff (and actually gets an upgrade against raiders) but devastators and warriors would still take 3 shots, which is honestly still kind of low for an auto-aiming weapon but any lower than that makes its use against non-chaff targets a real hard sell

The flamethrower has amazing synergy with gas (gas nades or the brapdog). The gas slows the enemy, which lets you safely get close and the gas/fire DOT stacks, letting you rape fleshmobs.

As for the FRV if you put in the effort its an amazing strategem especially on bugs. It can outrun anything so you can just endlessly kite, and for when you have to hold your ground, just park it and it doubles as a HMG emplacement.

You can swap seats inside the car by pressing C. Also carrying a support weapon and shooting out the window is way better than the mounted hmg for taking out spawners. It’s amazing with backpack weapons because it nullifies their stationary reload weakness.

My favourite use is having a pal in the backseat (so he can shift from right to left side) with the autocannon, doing drive by’s on all 3 fronts.

The FRV is amazing, its achilles heel is that you need an actually coordinated team to use it properly, which cuts out 99% of pubs.

the whales also used to fuck over the car but now we can disarm them and leave them crippled. as long as you use the AC to defang them before they can fuck up the car you’re fine. Still a threat but not an instant game over.

Bugs need more ranged units. The reason why bots (and to a much, MUCH lesser extent the squids) are so interesting to fight is because they engage you at all ranges. Bugs need some kind of threatening range unit.

The devs seeming inability to balance the Leviathan in a functional way tells me it's a mob that was made well over a year ago that they sat on it for content.
