It's not about "recolor" it's about what these two represent.
Helf-Fags in Worlo are a group of entitled children. They want to feel special, but in a "born this way" kind of way, not the "powered by magic" kind of way. In Vanilla, they begrudgingly picked Nelf but always played them to the Legolas fantasy. When Belves were released, they begrudgingly accepted having to play Horde, being deprived of enjoying the real LotR experience. When Velves were released, they nearly clawed their eyes out since it wasn't Blonde "normal" elves but instead something even more befouled than Belves. Now that these people can have normal hair colors, the only thing that pisses them off is that their race is associated with evil space magic and purple spell VFX.
Normal, beautiful, default "good" elves with the calm and good colour palette on the right, normal faction with Paladins as class choice - And the lore makes them the actual "underdog" choice in-game on top since they are the survivors of the survivors of the survivors. Almost all of them lived in Dalaran and that got blown the fuck up so the largest population remaining is... Quel'Danil lodge.
People with the worst main character syndrome you've ever seen are going to congregate on this like flies circle a shitpile and we're all going to suffer for it.
Meanwhile, Amani are the Niggerworshipper's dream. A PoC-Coded civilization that suffered greatly at the white man's colonial hand that never gave up killing the white man and impregnating the white woman. In the shitlibs' victimhood perception of the world, the Amani rank incredibly high (ironically, they really never did do anything wrong), so playing as them is like they can finally *be* niggers themselves and stick it to their white parents.
Both of these races are pinnacles of lore-legitimized self-importance.

We have gone through a soft reboot and it was W3 that set the foundation of popularity upon which WoW then expanded. And Warcraft 3 made it very clear that Forest Trolls are enemies, while Jungle Trolls are the new best friends. Every newbie that then decided to check out WoW was immediately hit with "Jungle Trolls are players characters, therefore good - Every other troll, bad" for the past 20 years.
Helves we at least see as having agency in W3 - Despite being our enemy, because it is very implicit that we playing as Arthas are "evil" and they're just powerless against our might.
