The job design (you know the jobs, which are the thing you experience all the content with) which ensures nothing in this game combat-related will ever be fun because all the jobs have been dumbed down and homogenized (already bad enough we never had different builds to experiment with like a proper RPG), so you just do your same old reptitive rotation on repeat and hit your 120 sec cooldowns? Where there is zero room for skill expression whatsoever?

The Chaotic raid, which everyone was expecting was supposed to be hard mode versions of every single alliance raid, beginning to end, and what we got was ONE (1) boss from ONE (1) alliance raid from ARR that was made into a trial and tuned to savage difficulty, and now 6 months later we STILL haven't even gotten another fight?

The new foray content which takes all the worst aspects from old and ends with a savage-tier raid despite foray content being for casuals, with deranged entry requirements and which is now gatekept by tranny discords?

There was nothing interesting about the original AST card effects. Take your rose tinted glasses off

Balance just increased Damage and was what everyone fished for.
Bole was shit because it, being an RNG DR, could never be relied on.
Ewer and Spire were similar to Bole. You would never rely on them because you weren't guaranteed an AST in your group and it was RNG for the AST to get one.
Arrow was just to troll people and ruin their combo because of TP gen.
Spear was w/e.

The only things that changed between HW to Stormblood in regards to cards for AST was a nerf to how much potency Balance gave because SE overbuffed the shit out of it at the end of HW because no one was fucking playing AST because it was dogshit. I swear to fucking god when ASTs reminisce about HW AST they're just reminiscing about being able to drop a 20% damage buff on someone every 30 seconds. Yoshida was member of the board of directors and had immense amount of power and authority at square enix for many years, ff16 is the only game that meaningfully took resources from 14 (actual developer time) and that was because of Yoshida's decision. And also ff16 turned out the way it did because of Yoshida's vision. He made the call to make the game focus on the big setpieces and minimize the rpg elements, and essentially develop a brand new engine instead of using UE or luminous.

Not necessarily. In shb, the relic step was kind of all over the place and had multiple options. People just picked whatever appealed to them, and there were enough players doing enough options to where this wasn't an issue. You'll always have meta chasers, but you shouldn't water everything down to 1 option just because "meta chasers will pick the most effective tactic anyway."

I like your idea that you proposed, though. It kind of reminds me of the moogle tomestone, in that it incentivizes people to go and explore other parts of the game and get the blood pumping in those areas. And varying it by day would create a lot of variety. Honestly, we should probably have something Khloe that's just baked into the player character's UI instead of being a book that you have to pick up. And then make the rewards something tantalizing because lots of people just forget it even exists as it is.
