Once they become a veteran, their stats are locked because the raising is complete. If you fail any of the goals, it still autolocks because you completed the run via fuckup, and you end up with an undertrained uma. Might as well finish all the goals to maximize.

Here's a tip. For the first while don't focus on leveling anything specifically. Instead train your Uma with other uma's to level up friendship. The extra gains you get from them is crucial in the long run.
If you're running a super creek or fine motion prioritize looking for them and getting them maxxed ASAP. most likely you'll be able to get them maxxed before races start to become an issue, and you absolutely want them maxxed or as close as you're able to before the 1st summer training.

is a sprinter, so she doesn't need much stamina and her style is frontrunner, so she needs as much speed as she can get + wit to activate her skills. As for the skills, you pic the one that support your race type or style. It takes some to know whats good and how to weave in extra races to get even more stats and level the ultimates during career. How do you tell what stats each uma should prioritize? Don't think any of the tutorials mentioned it. I could probably look up a guide but it would take some of the fun out of learning it
