You can trade goddess statues for her shards. Some seasonal campaigns also reward characters statues, and there are legend races later that reward statues as well.
But of course the fastest way is just roll the gacha, she's 2* so eventually you will get enough to uncap her to 5 stars just from rolling the FOTM 3* uma.

early on the game is mostly leapfrogging failures into slightly better failures and then maybe into a successful run. because our decks and honses suck ass.
but each time you get some better veterans to use as parents, put on PvP teams, level up your cards etc.
and try again next time.

best advice early is to follow the accounts on top of the pvp ladder so you can at least use their card and parent horse in a career run, and focus on speed/power + stamina.

Your goal for now is aiming for good parents (huge amount of white inheritance and triple star blue inheritance). Then you roll good cards and you use them together to create even better horse with high stat and as many skills as you can fit inside her.
If you don't care about all that, just aim for the highest score you can and read the story.

Did you check any of the stuff in the OP? I can't exactly vouch for it since I haven't used them for years but they're there.
The gameplay loop encompassing everything here is the "career". You pick a character, cards, and parents and train them up for up to 3 years or roughly 72 turns, getting the best stats and skills you can. You repeat this ad Infinium. What you produce can go on to be used for PVP and various PVE challenges. Completing career runs is the main mechanism for earning event points so the more runs you do (and the better you do in them) the more you'll get.
The only stats you should be concerned with at this point is speed and stamina, frankly. Speed raises your maximum speed. Stamina is basically your "HP" in a race, it drains the longer you run so the longer the race, the more you need so you don't get gassed and die before you cross the finish line. Power is acceleration. Wit makes you more likely to activate skills but at this point the former two should still be your focus.

Creek has energy restore events and THE gold heal skill, absolutely essential for any long race uma. FM has good skills and good stats, basically the best in class in INT slot for a long time.
