So, which theme, backdrop or servant group you like best? And who are you picking?

Also, going through all of them I noticed that a couple servant's art does not match their supposed backgrounds. Achilles's might have been designed for the Holi background (given the focus on painting and colors like the other servants on that theme) but he was put on the Lantern festival. Similarly Charlemagne is dressed for the Japanese festival, but he was put on the Oktoberfest backdrop. And perhaps Abi was intended for Rio since she was drawn by Kuroboshi alongside Yuyu and they seem to form a pair.

1's story was lacking but the building theme was super nice, and being able to take it down and rebuild for different combinations was great. Having two parts was also nice for content density AND the statue choice mattering for both parts was a nice touch. When they brought that back for the sea monster event, that was nice. Reminded me of how great this mechanic was. Great summer Servant designs.

2 had a funny ending but I didn't enjoy the race courses and the prison overall. Too much grind. Summer Servant designs were nice. Didn't care for all of them but I'm not complaining.

3 was decent in all categories. Medb's card art is fucked, and I didn't care Ushi but the others have very good designs. I don't think I hated the day night cycle shit but I don't think I liked it either. Mainly because I got sick of tracking which doujins to get on which cycle.

4's QP generosity came at a good time when I needed a fuckton of QP but the story sucked. Most of the summer Servants were great.

5 was kind of meh. Had a lot of writing but ultimately it wasn't interesting IMO. The Servants splitting up into groups was a nice idea but they were too disconnected from the rest of the event. Didn't care for most of the summer Servants either.

6's writing was silly but they played it straight so it wasn't bad overall. Great summer Servants, only one dud.

I tuned out halfway through 7 and just started skipping and didn't read. I should fix that but I don't expect it to get better. The mechanics were lamer versions of 1's building and the Yamataikoku timed reward shit. Really didn't like it. The rewards were also pretty meh. Didn't care for most of the Servants even though they were gameplay. Valks are cute.

8, I can't wait. Surely a summer event with great designs would also have great mechanics + writing.

What little I know about the whole BB Dubai plot sounds retarded and I'm not looking forward to it.

It is actually a really good idea that he did that. People know Nero, Tamamo and such from FGO. but making it a sequel to FGO would have required more people to play Extra or limit potential buyers of Extella. And Moon Cell is a really interesting setting. At least I like the Moon Cell. In the case of the Extella games, having played Extra helps to understand how Hakuno reached the position of Mooncell's governor, but I'd not say it's that necessary in order to enjoy the game. Extella Links story is minor compared to the first one, should be enjoyable enough still, but the biggest appeal of Links is the expanded roster of servants I'd say.

I like Samurai Remnant the most out of the recent Fate games. Pretty good story, more enjoyable gameplay and the scenery and historical background in SR is far more soulful and enriching than the Mooncell vaporware backdrop. Soundtrack is good on all entries.

Summer Melu is more of a generalist without class disadvantage against most of the game, but will need NP2 or more to meet damage checks.
Vritra is good but will make you cry whenever the farming node has sabers, plus it's not as though good farming lancers are in short supply.

I think Melu has a stronger niche with earth attribute. Both have a 30 special damage as well (Vritra's divine is probably better than Melu's chaotic), but Vritra also has archers while being a ruler barely ever means a damage boost.
I don't think either is so gameplay that you shouldn't just go with the one you like more though

Melu does bonus damage versus Earth Enemies, one of the most common enemy types in the game. She also gets a 3 turn attack buff every time she nps ontop of bonus damage to Chaotic enemies.
