WC1 is dated and basic but not very long, you could probably beat both campaigns in less than 10 hours if you want to see what one of the oldest RTS games looks like
WC2 is basically WC1 but much easier to control. Only problems I'd say it has is that the whole oil/naval component dragons down a lot of the missions and the expansion is a huge difficulty spike that expects you to replay missions over and over to memorize attack timings that destroy you unless you know they're coming

WC1 and WC2 base game aren't that difficult, for most missions you can just build a giant army in your base and then move out and kill everything at once. The last few missions of each WC2 campaign demand some more strategy but you should have gotten somewhat better at the game by then. I'd advise slowing the game speed down if you're struggling, WC2 on the fastest game speed is so fast units die in the blink of an eye in huge fights. the hardest parts are probably routing for M+, learning how to rotate defensives (easier on some classes than others), and mandatory tank swap mechanics for raids, which require a bit of communication. otherwise shit like kiting, pulling, and just overall tanking rotations are quite simple, and threat these days mostly handles itself.

obviously pick the tank class that aesthetically speaks to you the most or that you enjoy the rotation of, but if you are looking for recommendations as a beginner, warrior and guardian druid are probably the easiest and most straightforward. paladin and demon hunter are somewhere in the middle in terms of complexity and fragility, and then monk and blood death knight are the hardest to play and most easily killed if you mess up, although death knight also has some insane survivability once you get the hang of it and a rediculous toolbox of utility and defensive cooldowns.

tanks also have a lot of off GCD abilities or abilities which are often used in succession which, while not perfectly optimal to macro, can be macro'd to other abilities to help reduce button bloat and be set up in castsequence macros. it wont result in perfect play, but it can help reduce the number of keybinds which is often a big hurdle to starting tanking for a lot of people as tanks and healers have about 2-3x as many keybinds as most dps specs.

i would do the druid or warrior first. brewmaster is a mix of reactive active mitigation (you need to purify stagger just after a big hit for the most effect) and predictive perfect timing defensives (keg smash is 90% damage reduction but only for 3 seconds, zen meditation blocks a single big hit or magic but is easily cancelled or wasted), and brew also has an orbs mini game which can be non obvious to track, on top of having to keep track of stagger and maintain shuffle which is kind of like their shield. brew is a lot of spinning plates and perfect timed blocks that makes it probably the hardest tank in the game to play in my opinion, and also has the least self sustain of any of the tanks.

guardian druid has more self healing than protection warrior, and more/longer lasting defensive cooldowns, which make it feel more in charge of its own health pool than warriors. it also has better and easier aoe threat and damage rotations and ironfur is pretty easy to manage as well. it has decent mobility. it can feel squishy if you dont have enough ironfur stacked or a defensive like barkskin up and a big hit comes in.

warrior feels more passively "wall of meat" tanky, it has buckets of just passive %damage reduction and automatic defense from blocking so its less prone to just losing large chunks of health all at once. it has probably the best or second best mobility of any tank with multiple charge charges, shield charge, intercept and heroic leap, and can hold aoe threat fairly easily via thunderclap and auto applied rends, though be aware when chain pulling that the cooldown on thunderclap can leave you with a gap in aoe threat pickup for about 5 seconds. it uses shield block and ignore pain to active mitigate damage, mulltiple shield block stacks dont do anything extra but ignore pain stacks. prot warrior does somewhat lack self healing but not entirely. it has a great anti-magic toolkit if you use spell reflect often.

You will probably get a reply saying it's meant to be Frostwolf armor, but that is complete fanfiction that is never stated anywhere, anybody that tells you it is Frostwolf armor has no source for that being the case and is making it up. The running theory is that this is a case of the telephone game where the reintroduction of the Doomplate and his braids in BfA had an artist mess up and draw his armor to be the same shade of blue as his braids, and ever since then more depictions of Thrall take that depiction as gospel and keeping making the Doomplate bluer and bluer.
