What I can tell you as a seasoned Halo fan that plays all the games is Infinite's campaign is nothing special. I would rather play through any Bungie campaign than replay Infinite again.

As far as sprint goes, I wish they would just get rid of it at this point but it's not going to be the reason the game succeeds or not.
They need to just launch feature complete. Everything Infinite has in it now, 4 years in, should have been there day 1, and then some.

For sure, but I can't emphasize enough that most people are not dropping the game a might in because of how it plays, but rather because of how much there is to do. The core Halo gameplay loop, even if perfected, can't alone keep the masses interested anymore. There's just so many more options.

It's more that Reach's suite of features really helped off-set a lot of the stuff that even Marcus admits wasn't so good in retrospect.
Anyway, even a great Halo game will just be the start of rebuilding its reputation. It will need great follow-up as well. The only exception is a game that's far too well-funded and on-point to even dare to dream of.

Tell me about Halo Infinite if you've played it.

Halo 4 was the last "new" Halo title I got to play. The Xbone was such an underwhelming console that I could never justify buying one so I never got to play Halo 5 (or Wars 2, but I don't enjoy RTS games), and while my 7 year old computer is able to run MCC, it can't run Infinite, so I'm still locked out of the loop.

Everything I've tried to look up about Infinite just makes it feel half-baked and underwhelming, but that's from the outside looking in.

Yeah that's about it. It looks and plays like a low budget fan game, down to the half assed "firefight" modes. You'd never guess six years and half a billion was wasted on this turd. I wish I could live in the world of cope, wealth, or brain damage that makes the nine people who play this game call it the best in the series.
The only thing worthwhile is the campaign, which even gets old quick with the only two locations being "grassy hills" or "forerunner hallway". The upgrades and boss fights are fun enough though, definitely better than 4 or 5's campaigns.

The only worthwhile aspect is the multiplayer. Anyone telling you the campaign is the highlight... I have no clue what campaign that person played because it's not Infinite. The worst most conveluted narrative in the series, extremely bland open world that clearly feels unfinished, and some of the worst asset reuse in the series. There are multiple levels that reuse the same hallways and rooms over and over again. I don't mean within their own level, I mean actually from previous levels. What really makes the game so dull is how you traverse. You have this grapple ability that does feel satisfying to use, but very early on you can upgrade it to a point where it quite literally breaks the game. It is faster to traverse the map with the grapple than it is with a vehicle. Think about that. Yes it can be satisfying to roll into an enemy base with 5 marines, but that's never the most effective way to take down a base so you're basically going out of your way to do it. Yes it's better than 5's Campaign, but 5's Campaign is like a 6th child a couple in their late 30s had that ended up having down syndrome so that's nothing impressive. I'll probably get some pushback on this but if I had to play through Infinite or 4 again anytime in the next year, I'd probably choose 4, because at least I can get it over with faster.
Infinite's multiplayer actually does play quite well regardless of what you might read around here. Some modes are better than others. Extra modes are a mixed bag with firefight feeling half baked but Forge being truly incredible. The core multiplayer is actually pretty damn Halo/10 even if I don't personally love the weapon sandbox. Still, this blows away Reach and the other 343 games in how it plays. The problem is I still can't reccomend it because the community is super depleted, and SBMM doesn't help, so you're likely to just get your shit pushed in over and over.

tl;dr Infinite is such a mess that even the good shit is a pain to experience.

Interesting, Halo 3 made the two canons, canon. I'll explain, Halo 3's campaign was Bungie's canon from Halo CE on up, Halo 3's terminal along with its Bestiarum were Microsoft's canon. Halo 3 is the break off point. Bungie's games aren't canon with the terminals, Microsoft's games are. Microsoft initially had the Forerunners look closer to humans but that changed with Halo Evolution, the Forerunner Saga, and then Halo 4. The Humans and Forerunners came from the same base stock thing, which is new from Microsoft, is based on the Halo 3 Terminal's canon while the Halo Legends Forerunner suits are canon but have six fingers instead of five.

Wouldn't expect the campaign-only Halo trilogy remakes to use the Bungie canon, so expect Humans and Forerunners to be separate species in them to connect the remakes to Halo 4-Infinite and future Halo games.

Hopefully, this clears things up.

Most of 2's assets were designed for normal maps to carry their presentation, so they didn't have shading or reflections drawn on to the texture like many of CE's assets.
Normal maps generally require dynamic lighting to look right (because they need light direction data), so when that was cut everything ended up appearing very flat.
You can see an approximation of what the game would have originally looked like (minus stencil shadows) in the restored lighting mod.
I think CE is still more aesthetically charming due to how vibrant it is, but 2 absolutely got robbed graphically.

The MA5K is the preferred weapon of John-117, although he also has nostalgia for the more traditional MA5B.
Meanwhile, Thel' Vadum would likely prefer the BR75 for its more similar aiming scheme to the Type-51 Carbine. Granted, he might just prefer to get up close and utilize the Type-1 Energy Weapon instead.

There are many ways of playing with how a weapon's accuracy is affected by the speed boost, which can help them feel more distinct/have pros and cons.
Spread expanding more quickly, recoil (which 5 messed with a tad), even stuff like direction/speed/momentum affecting the gun sway. Lots of stuff to make it worthwhile to not have the omni-direction boost on 24/7.
However it's done, we're at least back to being able to shoot -while- moving at top speed, except you need a bit more skill to still land shots while doing so.
