I'm currently playing Raidou Remastered but also I am rather busy these days so I don't progress with the game as much + I'm taking my sweet time with it. I'm doing a stupidly high amount of fusions, to the point I haven't recruited a demon in a bit. Honestly I missed sinking like a hour per session fusing new demons, even if the game has added all these items that give skills and such without inheriting them. Only got one fusion perk so far, this Archangel came out with like 4 more ST or something. No fusion errors so far yet but I imagine those were more common in Raidou 2 due to the game's focus on Luck (I also have not gone to Goumaden at Full Moon yet).

Yesterday I finished Chapter 2 and 3 and io and behold, some bored anon on /smtg/ flat out lied that you find out about Raidou XL in Remastered's Chapter 2. I also saw that all the "incriminating" screencaps come from some xitter posters since I browsed it a bit through a frontend to look for fanart. So whoever is constantly bitching and shitting on the game isn't even looking at playthrough videos on his own, he's stealing from xitter, kek.
I'm still curious to see the shitty new changes for myself. I find that most changes so far have been good except for the handholding, but what do you know, Atlus thinks its fans have no reading comprehension whatsoever.

It's like Raidou 2's but refined. Raidou now can now use cooldown skills that range from elemental magic to get enemies into critical state but also he can use some buffs or heals; however they aren't as OP as it sounds, they're there moreso to make things faster and the fast pace is what's been the most fun thing about this battle system so far, it's addicting to fill up the MAG bar after your demons used it all up to cast Critical spells. The gun isn't very good or satisfying to use but I got it a bit more now, basically it's there to stun teleporting/flying enemies in place but it's too situational. Also, you lock onto enemies which I do not remember from neither Raidou 1 or 2 at all... it's not bad but it took some time to get used to. Same for the jump button (I don't use it much).
Fusion Autism is even better than Raidou 2's now that you can choose which skills to inherit... I already sank hours into fucking around with it because I plan to make perfect versions of my favorites through fusion. It's MILES above Raidou 1's sorry excuse of fusion.

Probably make it an actual six-shooter and make it so you can buy or make magic bullets, make it strong but an actual commitment to reload (so you only reload if your demons got aggro, for example) or/and a money sink (the bullets) to even off it's high instant damage compared to sword slashes.
The mag drain system is simple, light attacks generate MAG, heavy attacks drain MAG but deal more damage. Your demons use your MAG for their abilities, so it's always good to have a lot of it or demons just won't do jack shit but basic attack.
During a weakness stun you get 2x mag from light attacks, too. Not sure if heavy attacks do more when that happens because who reads tutorials lol

A good way to experience SJR is to have your first playthrough be SJ (DS) and then have subsequent playthroughs on SJR (3DS). Lets you appreciate the changes in SJR more even with the adage it wasn't play-tested as well as SJ itself was (pretty much the new dungeon becomes your new main story as the original SJ part of the game can't keep up with the new mechanics/progress). My interest was first piqued in Raidou when my friend and I played Raidou 1 and then 2. I didn't compare it to Raidou 2 because the remake would compare even more terribly with it. Passive skills such as Devotion and the exp booster skill are pointless because now demons that you're not using still get exp AND loyalty even though it makes zero sense. Phys skills on demons in general have far less punch in this game because Raidou can pretty much handle anything now. Elemental signs are completely inferior to elemental bullets and demon-enchanted bullets in 2, even if it doesn't make the magic demons obsolete. And even if magic demons are still useful in this game, it's ridiculous how early you can get the Magnetize skill (making it so that choosing the right demons for the right job matters even less), as if the game doesn't already shower you with Chakra chips and drops from the beginning. Buffs are also completely unneeded in this game.

No, I disagree. Though magic was and is always good to have around on your demons, having just Raidou on the field actually makes battles too slow because you can't get enemies in critical state as easily as when you have two other guys around. Having the better gun from 2 would probably help Raidou fight alone by a lot (frankly the new gun sucks).

Maybe that's why your battle lasts so long, because I do not feel the HP bloat at all after the first chapter or so and I always have some guys that can use buffs. But even before you unlock fusion most battles go by very fast after Dark Tsukudo-Cho.
I do think Chakra items have become even more useless than they were already in Raidou 2. Regular MP items just make no sense when MP is so readily available from just playing. At least in Raidou 2 I had some fringe situations early on where I needed one. Still, I prefer the MAG gain this way, I think it makes the battles flow better.

Frankly I agree but I see this as a problem with Yamai's vision for the series. Personally the way I liked Raidou was when it only dealt with two timelines, SMT1-2 and DebiSama. Raidou 2 though more or less implied Raidou can also go to Nocturneland and aid Lucifer in his desire to destroy the Great Will so I can see why they are shoving in SMTVV references. I don't like that they removed some of the SMT1-2 references for this but to me it's a problem that goes deeper than which game they decide to reference.

I phrased it badly perhaps, but what I'm talking about is how useless the Phys oriented demons are now compared to the magic ones. Even if you can't hit weaknesses there's no reason to summon them when Raidou can hit harder regardless of build, because now there are a ton of incenses lying around and Scavenger activates (way more frequently than in the past) even when your demon is in the tube.

I personally think it's a pretty terrible sign that they decided to remove references to the original games in the remake of the game that was most closely related to them outside of if... (and NINE maybe, but I never played it). I have no problem with them adding references to newer games, but if they're so allergic to references to games that the old team developed, then maybe they should've made a new game instead of making pointless rewrites.
I like some of the additions they made to this game, but I honestly think that they ended up breaking way too many things in the process.

Frenzy/Mighty Hit is the best thing a demon can do after hitting a weakness, they hit like a truck even when not hitting a weak point AND they can stun most bosses, don't underestimate them.

Raidou remastered improved a lot but also messed up quite a few things as you might've noticed by recent discussion. In my eyes it's not a definitive version of the game despite being a breeze to play through.
My main complaint is precisely that, the game is too easy. The enemies feel spongy, sure, but all it took for me to beat the game was dumping all of my stat points into STR and MAG and fusing a good Lilim early on.
She got to the endgame and having a second demon in battle was mostly optional. That's cool but all I had to do was give her MAG incenses, never I needed to tweak her build or put effort into upgrading her.
It felt like I never needed to plan or account for anything too, the game gives you so much "quality of life tweaks and improvements" but you don't have to pay them any proper attention. They really want to dumb down the experience and let people enjoy SMT/Devil Summoner the same way people enjoy Persona 5. Some boss battles will be a bit more difficult than the rest of the game, but you don't play the game cleverly solving problems like you would in Strange Journey or other games of the series.
Anyway, I will replay this game in the hardest difficulty in the future to see if then I'll actually be challenged and feel the need make better use of game mechanics to solve problems.
I still hope Raidou 2 Remastered releases and it's less brainded that this one.

I hope they cancel the remaster of Raidou 2. That would bring me sο much joy.
