for the Abandon ending, I think there's something to be said about how Sunny considers going back to sleep a legitimate option to the point it's an option the player can choose to act on in the first place. I find it very funny to read through all the analyses about how deeply he cares for his best friend when it all can be disproven with this one screenshot

By this point in time, Sunny's remembered the truth. He is well-aware he needs to help Basil - to "save" him. It doesn't say anything positive about him, then, that he still contemplates leaving Basil alone.
There's also something to be said about the basic logistics of Basil's suicide - or, more precisely, the lack thereof. It's understandable that Polly and the gang were in shock when they found his body, but how come they called the ambulance only in the morning? it's particularly weird since they're much quicker to do so after Sunny and Basil fight.

Sunny can not to forgive Basil. Sunny can decide that Basil isn't worth saving after what he's done, and in turn he isn't worth forgiving either. He can quietly choose not to save him. Go back to sleep, or head home while everyone's still asleep. Quietly kill himself just like Basil is doing/did, or move away in whatever state of mind he's in. He isn't destined to last long if he moves away like that. It's selfish, and that's the point. You can have bad endings that are actions our characters could have performed, but they aren't what really happened unless the devs say so.

The ambulance siren over the credits? There's only one leave route scene and credits sequence, so there's no variation for if the friends were together and found Basil's body a lot sooner which obviously help would be called around then. So it might just be an oversight. It could also be metaphorical. The suicide endings have the phone ringing endlessly even if Sunny isn't alive to hear it anymore. And if Sunny's moving away, they wouldn't be close enough to hear the ambulance siren.

I kind of wish I wrote some more. Not even just story ideas that weren't smut, but mini-reviews/theories about fanfics. The only time I did something like that I can remember was talking about what could have been with Porcelain Heart aeons ago, the Basil theory I had for IWLH, and maybe technically that Dreaming Boy Sleeping Girl thing I wrote last thread even if it was short. I usually just kept that kind of stuff in my head and never shared it when it was relevant.
Maybe I could have learned how to draw even a little, but that's not something I regret too much.

It's such a shame to think there's people missed losing this fight because of the Pepper Spray. The dialogue for losing is way more interesting. We get to see Kel trying to be a good friend again, we get a second instance of Aubrey saying Mari's name in vain, and Kel making a really good observation about Aubrey that shuts her up. It's such a nice scene. I wish we had gotten it in the manga.

I still love the part of the Thalassophobia sequence where Mari's spirit stops, moves a few steps closer to Sunny, Sunny moves a little closer to her, and then they keep going. It's so cute and sad at almost any angle you look at it with.
And also this detail from the manga. That the first thing Sunny did after opening his eyes and seeing Mari crying was to try and wipe her tears. It feels so Sunny.

I don't have much to say about it, but this is a really sweet sidequest. This and a bit of extra dialogue from Jesse the next day where he talks about not seeing Brent and Joy for a while really makes me wish we got to reunite the three kids. I bet it would have been really cute.

I really like that often overlooked detail of Omori's design. That the reason Omori carries specifically a kitchen knife around could be because Sunny associates himself with it. Something else that hurt Mari, the knife she sliced her finger on and made her cry for the first time Sunny's known her. It's probably even the exact same kitchen knife knowing Sunny's imagination. I wonder if the knee injury Mari got made her cry, either from the injury itself or having to give up softball, or if she held it together back then.

Kel's already nice to her and she seems to like it, they're next-door neighbors, dialogue from the mom seems to imply Kel and Sunny have both been over before which implies a history, and the two of them are pretty sportsy individuals. There's plenty cute there.
Sunfish is pretty cute. I feel like it's carried by the importance of the Seashell Necklace both for Sunny and a theme of the game, and additional meaning you could apply to it. They'd also have a history if Sunny's visited before, and their shared circumstances of moving away from friends. Not to mention Crisanon played a pretty strong part pushing it into relevance with those cute drawings.

It's kind of bittersweet when Hero talks about missing Sunny and keeping in contact with him when he moves. He doesn't try to visit Sunny if you go the other route, even if you went outside on the first day. I wouldn't indict Hero for it, but it kind of makes some of what Hero says feel a little disingenuous. Like he cares, but not that much. At least not yet. He's still going through it himself and not truly opening up. Or maybe he doesn't visit because that house has too many painful memories and he wants to keep away. He keeps you from visiting the cemetery until the following day, after all. It still hurts too much. Or maybe I'm reading way too into it.

It's the little tragedies.

The curtained window Mari's spirit appears in front of sometimes is meant to be the window in Sunny's house, but I also think it's partially supposed to represent this statue. Before Mari disappears through the curtains after following Omori, she mentions that he'd seen these curtains before. The last time they went to the lake. The statue here was the last thing he saw before he sunk deep into the water, or maybe when he looked up at Mari diving after him it made the statue so much clearer behind her.
Also there's two more cats here. Faraway has a lot of them.

I feel like this is a pretty popular interpretation, but I always read this line like it's a bitter statement. Not saying there's physically no room for Sunny, but there's no room for someone like him.
Also I didn't want to use up an image slot for this, but there was a bit of flavor text in regards to Hero and Kel's family photo.

It reminds me of an unused bit of flavor text from the 2019 build that isn't used here because you can only open the fridge, not examine it.

I don't think Sunny would ever admit it even to himself, but I think deep down he might feel a little bitter about how happy his neighbors have been while his situation has been decidedly not okay. 'Everything Sunny needs, Kel has' and all that. Or maybe the "..." is being used similarly to how it's being used in "Wow..." and I'm just reading spite and bitterness where there isn't any.
And while it's in recent memory, Kel's Mom telling Sunny he'd always have a home with them was emotionally hitting on repeat playthroughs. Knowing how things go and what the twist is, it makes what she says so tragic. He might never be able to go back.

It's sad to think that on nights when Hero's over and they're having a happy family dinner, Sunny's only 30 seconds away sleeping in an emptied room in a broken home on the precipice of taking his own life for years now. Aubrey and Basil aren't faring much better in their homes, either.

I disagree. Kel's just consistent in who he is. He tries to stay positive about things. Kel's whole deal is that he ignored his friends because he was afraid of making things worse, presumably either because of what happened with Hero or reinforced by that. Once he realizes this was wrong, he decides to be a better friend. It doesn't change who he is or how he generally acts, it just changes his perspectives.
Also growing up matured Kel a lot. Dream Kel would not have been able to help out Jesse, or talk Kim into telling them where Aubrey is, or pinpoint Aubrey's deal at the lake.

He's the most put together. He handled Mari's death better than the rest, excluding the part where he willingly left his friends behind. And he does have a moment. When he admits that he had stayed out of his friends lives because everything was really complicated and he was afraid of making things worse, than apologizing to Sunny and Aubrey for being a bad friend, and even promises Aubrey he'll always be there for her. Something he wasn't for any of them over the last four years. Just because he stays who he is doesn't mean he hasn't changed.

Would Omori be better without the "twist", or if it was something more subtle like Sunny feeling guilty for Mari's (actual) suicide because it happened after their argument and that their relationship wasn't actually as ideal as people thought. As it stands I like the reveal and its impact. But I think it also makes Sunny less relatable and perhaps less sympathetic overall. Whereas the theme of the original Omoriboy comics was to portray a more general, widespread form of loneliness and self-isolation.

I like it the way it is. It makes the truth so messy. At the end of the day, what Sunny did was an accident. It was malice without direction. He didn't mean for it to happen, and that's what makes it so fucked. Mari lost her life, her future, her friends lost her, her brother lost her, over something completely avoidable if it had all happened just a little differently. Even the slightest difference at any of the many different points and Mari might have lived. It's how unfair it all was. They never understood why she would do it because she never would. And she never did. An accident and a lie that ruined everything.
And I don't think the fight with Omori would have been as effective as it was if Sunny simply believed he was responsible for Mari's death instead of knowing it was his fault. Any variation of 'She killed herself because of you' isn't as miserable as 'She loved you and you killed her'.

Adding onto this.
Another part is that it is so unforgivable. It makes Sunny's cowardice and fears more understandable when you realize there's an actual, tangible core to it. He murdered his own sister and assisted in framing it as a suicide. The unused truth album text shows that even for how completely mentally checked out he was and in steep denial, he still on some level knew what Basil was telling him and helped because he desperately wanted to believe Basil's words that everything would be okay. He was a 12 year old when it happened. How can he tell his friends that? They'd hate him just as much as he hates himself for it. And they'd be right too. Sunny would completely understand. So that's why he never did, why Omori tells him to kill himself instead of telling them the truth and choosing to keep living. It would be better for Sunny to just die.

Hero sat next to Sunny; from up close, he looked like Mari. His hair had grown to his shoulder, around the same height Mari’s hair was when they first started dating. He had feminine eyes and a wonderful figure.

He felt himself getting hard. He reminded himself that he wouldn’t do anything to his precious friend; he wouldn't cheat on Mari.

Yeah, Kris would destroy Sunny, both in a literal fight and in terms of being a gremlin. The latter barely does anything that could mark him as a character, let alone as being on the same level of chaotic as Kris.

They'd destroy him in terms of characterization, too. Kris can't even bring themself to be mean to their friends - on the Weird Route, they quickly bite their hand to prevent themselves from saying what the player wants them to say if the latter chooses to say "I'll never play again" in response to Susie's vent about the piano in the church, and they'll always cut themself off if the player chooses to say "Of course not" in response to Ralsei asking them if it's okay for a Darkner to have their own opinions before they can spell out the "not." They flinch and turn away from the screen when Ramb's "original" game forces them to kill their (in-game) friends. They take the Knight's barrage of swords for Susie and Ralsei until they have 1 HP left. If the player chooses to say "It's okay not to smile" when Ralsei confesses how he fears the prophecy's end, they will hug him unprompted. They care deeply - to the point their love for their friends is what's facilitating their growing conflict of interest - and Deltarune makes sure to show you that.

Sunny ruined his friends' lives (and ended his sister's) because of a hissy fit he threw, let them believe a horrific lie for four years, then decided to get back with them only because he wanted to get that lest pebble - that is, the truth - out of his shoe before he starts anew and contributed nothing to the group's reunion at the end of the day because Kel and Hero did the work for him. The game takes 20-25 hours and at no point does the game elaborate on how and why his friends are his friends in the first place, which probably speaks a lot more about OMORI's writing than my unhinged rants ever could.

I think you're forgetting the part where Kris is actively is working against his friends and (You). He's in contact with a voice over the phone Carol. He stops you from reading the password in the guitar, and tries to stop Susie from getting it. When he fails, he dials up the voice on the phone and she heads right over, stealing the guitar from Susie and talking shit to her before telling Susie to never come back. Kris obviously cares about his friends, but he's also actively working against their interests for his own. Which might have apocalyptic consequences depending on how things go. Also he's strongly implied to be working with The Knight who beat the shit out of his friends on multiple occasions while he and them sandbag each other.
And as for Sunny, he does play a really important role. And that role is that none of what happened would have happened without him simply being there. Hero and Kel couldn't have the sleepover at Sunny's house meaning Hero wouldn't have seen the piano again, they all couldn't visit the treehouse where some of their character development happens and they find the tree stump, Aubrey admits part of why she acted the way she did was because of seeing Sunny again so events with her might not have played out the same, and the photo album probably would have remained in Aubrey's hands.
And even if things played out similarly without Sunny being there, Hero and Aubrey confronting Aubrey and making amends and getting the album back, Basil would have killed himself without Sunny intervening. None of them would have known why he was about to do it and checked in on him, then it would have played out like it does if Sunny goes back to sleep. At the very least Sunny was essential for the final two steps; saving Basil, and telling the truth.

I get the feeling Mari really raising her voice at Sunny was something that pretty much never happened. So whenever she did, he would absolutely listen. Especially considering what happened the last time she yelled at him and he continued to disobey her.

And this lighthouse only exists within this pocket area you can only access during this sequence, otherwise it doesn't have a physical location in Headspace we can find. What did this place used to be? Who lived here? Some version of Sunny's dad? Maybe Sunny's real family portrait being here implies this place predates Sunny taking on the form of Omori? It's a mystery. One that's answer was lost to time, leaving it here as a relic of what used to be. So enchanting.

I feel like that's a case. Some locations just get forgotten and no longer have a role in Headspace. Like Lost Library, or Basil's House as we get to see ourselves.
Sort of how like how Black Space 2 seems to contain some locations and ideas they couldn't fit into the game, and in-universe might represent old locations that sunk into Black Space. Like the old school area for Aubrey's Love Letter could be a remnant of an old location idea, one backed up by the old enemy concept sheet having school themed enemies. Or an entire two room location that would have fit pretty well in Otherworld's Junkyard being found down in Black Space, left in an incompletable state because you don't have your friends. Or how Black Space 2 itself is mostly made up of areas that were in the 2019 version of Black Space. It really helps the feeling of Headspace having changed a lot throughout the cycles despite its general plot structure, and how the dev's recycled, reduced, and reused ideas like that.
