You need to complete a game to get a chance at a set so some people are just sand bagging to make their chest grind more efficient since they don't give a fuck about their rank. A lot of match ups take forever even if you win it reliably like anything that's positive into portal.

I have been playing the game for over a week now on both PC and mobile. I am not F2P as I paid $200 for my first deck. Initially, the economy seems to be very bad (500 gold pack price, lower vial from liquefying silvers, and, critically, no liquefy first 3 copies). I thought it would sucks so bad as a F2P player or a low-spender. One week ahead, I changed my mind. The economy is fine and I can enjoy many good decks. In my current opinion, the only thing that need change is the no liquefy first 3 copies rule.

I am not the luckiest player (no 100 packs key jackpot) and neither I do any reroll. Just straight up normal player that buys all crystal package, plus battle pass. Currently, I have 2 top tier, pretty much fully upgraded decks (puppet portalcraft and artifact portalcraft, 3 if you include hybrid). I also have enough vials from extra cards to upgrade my half-baked decks into good viability (ramp dragon, midrange sword, aggro abyss). The only classes where I don't have enough resources to even make half-baked decks are runecraft and havencraft, in which both have very expensive top tier decks (I am absolutely fine with this, F2P players and low-spenders aren't supposed to have everything). Finally, I have around 7000 gold that I save for next expansion (that is still growing everyday) as I am satisfied enough with my current collection.

So far so good. I am having a blast with this game and I have variety of viable decks. So, what happens that suddenly change my mind and my perspective on the economy? It turns out that the economy is REALLY supported by the freebies that Cygames give (Daily packs, park keys, events, events, events (many of them), bonus packs from here and there, and recently, 3 free legendary packs). So, as long as Cygames keep pumping up these freebies, I think the economy is going to be fine.

As much as I hate the no liquefy first 3 copies rule (and expensive cosmetics lol), I can't give the game negative review anymore.

It was playtested, but cygames has never cared about balance. They want you to play the OP deck for a month and then spend all your money when another OP deck appears in the next expansion. It was NEVER about balance.

Honestly I’m just having a lot of fun with this game and wanted to post something positive about it after seeing all the negative reviews.

I’ll freely admit that I’m not a FTP player, but I haven’t spent a ton (only $200) and I’m really enjoying the fast-paced experience and play styles so far.

I’ve never played the original Shadowverse so I’m not doing a direct comparison here. I will say however that compared to the CCGs/TCGs I’m used to (Hearthstone, MTG including physical) the cost here really doesn’t seem out of line from what I’m accustomed to with this genre. Again, not comparing to the original, just the experience of a totally new player.

I was going to wait longer to write a post like this so I could speak with more gameplay experience, but I have a few decks built with reasonable success and am having a ton of fun, and because I almost didn’t start this game because of some of the negative posts I wanted to write from my experience to encourage other new players to try it out!

It's easy to gauge at extremes, but hard to say if you're in the middle. To express it in vial value, if you pull a card you want, you're 100% vial efficient. If you're opening packs to vial cards and craft a card you want, it's only 20%-35% vial efficient. (The ratios for liquefy vs craft for bronze/legendary)
Obviously, for someone who is open to playing every class, each new pack opened will give more value than trying to open an old pack because you want the full collection, and you can still vial duplicates all the same.
(Assuming you're getting the baseline level of bronzes/silvers from card pack ticket rewards), I can see the Legends Rise pull strategy working out for someone who is only playing a single class because they gain effectively no value from other cards.
I don't know where the breakeven point is, though the second strategy seems more limiting if you ever want to branch out.
(Also leader cosmetics will change with each pack and that's what most people care about anyway)
That said, the only vialing duplicates strategy is literally what I always did in the original game so basically nothing changed for me

Rune bricks. It's just hard to notice when you're on the opposite side because you see them drawing 20 cards and go "well fuck i guess i lose" but they need specific sequences to pop off. They're actually less consistent than forest and portal who get to run a ton of redundancies.

Didn't luck into it. I have no DAOs, I have no Aragavy, I only have 2 Cerbs and 2 Medusa. I have the golds. I'm not going to make the deck since Abyss is subject to have a huge shift next expansion when it actually has some cards to build a deck with.
