It's the opposite for me. I don't have trouble avoiding splatter, but Geist's bomb makes me want to hang myself. Though, I completely understand why people hate splatter so much. They really just need to make aoe abilities have falloff, make the game require a modicum of skill to use such abilities effectively. These abilities feel bad to dodge because throwing a bomb requires 0 brain cells compared to how dodging it feels so fucking difficult that actually succeeding feels like a bug.

That only works if Geist is retarded. For T1 bomb, you still need to dash jump if you do it like that, which means you always have to stay at a position where you have enough space to run away, and makes your movement very predictable. The fact that you can't react to it means Geist has ungodly area denial for a hero that's very dangerous up close and has great sustain.

It's not an issue of balance, the issue is that this sucks to play against.

I have not been having a good time with Deadlock recently. Feels like everyone is too good at the game and none of the 6k gun items are appealing.

Yep, that's the only weakness to Viscous. You basically need to be a top player to carry with him, but it is possible. If you don't care about winning or rank, he's the most fun hero. Lots of neat techs for all of his abilities, many creative ways to use his kit.

He's in a weird spot right now. You can go support cube if you want to hate yourself, but the most reliable build in my experience is ball. Punch builds would be viable if melee charge wasn't bugged and actually applied the bonus damage to puddle punch. Spirit Snatch is free to proc for viscous, so always get that. Range is also always helpful.

Like for instance, the existing routes into midboss are fine, functionally, but it's so weird to me that we have the whole "subway" areas for the underground shops but they are completely separate from the midboss sewer. This but not for the digshit reason you mentioned. When (and if) the game launches I'd rather see Valve try the full live service game approach, which includes skins, events, battlepasses you name it.
I couldn't care less for hats (have spent 3k hours in dota, never bought one) but if Valve allows community to make skins they will ruin the game's atmosphere in an instant, and that part is what I personally care about. So Valve better have enough people to pump the live service content feed to consoomers themselves.

How do you all go about actually doing macro? I stopped caring about urnmaxxing because a. most of the time I'm running it by myself even with lanes pushed and I get ganked or b. we get urn but half the team gets wiped two seconds later and the enemy's even or ahead again. As soon as I win/lose early lane I try to go to the other two to help out with the first flex unless walker starts getting pushed in my lane and I'm the only one there to defend. I'm assuming if you're ahead in kills/souls your priority is farming enemy's side of the map until about 20 minutes, if behind you're farming your side and looking for ganks/overexposed targets. I'm on a losing streak and I feel like either I'm not contributing enough to team fights because I'm stuck on a lane or it's just team diff and the matchmaking system's fucked.

ricochet is an impossible to balance item
the whole point of gun characters is you are supposed to focus down 1 target and beam the ever living shit out of them
with ricochet, now you just shoot into a crowd and everyone takes damage
the weird thing is that ricochet keeps your base damage of lets say 200 dps but also allows you to have 65% of your dps to a maximum of 2 other targets
what this means is you can have 3 targets total, one of which taking your 200 dps to the face but now you have two targets taking 65% of 200 (130 damage) thus meaning one tier 4 turns 200 dps into 460 dps (although spread across more people which is honestly beneficial if you have executes like shiv or vindicta)
the fact that procs are able to go through as well is absolutely ridiculous, haze can have an entire crowd fixation'd, infernus can set everyone on fire (insane lifesteal btw, makes infernus near invincible) and mirage can force everyone to sit back or else take 1.5k damage in a burst and i didnt even mention toxic bullets

ricochet in general needs removed if i am being honest, let spirit and gun character ultimates be the crowd control

I think the constant nerfing of heroes and bad designs like Shiv holding the game hostage whenever he gets a buff and yet somehow having a low winrate (and being absolute broken in comms teamplay), Wraith going invisible and getting free picks being the meta for 75% of the game's lifetime so far, and ESPECIALLY the way that games and even steamrolls can last 40-60 minutes on the worst patches and those tend to take several weeks to get changed, is leaving sour, lasting tastes in people's mouths.

I don't like the current soul spawning mechanic. The timing can be tricky when playing a variety of characters with different bullet velocities and that's all it really seems to be testing. The original mechanic of a random position was good for testing reflexes/ aiming while the immediate spawning version before this also felt smoother. Some characters (like Calico) I'll shoot the soul orb but it wont hit it, presumably because I shot too early (even though it didn't feel too early) which just encourages me either to shoot later and risk getting denied or waste ammo and shoot it twice. Which defeats the point.

Yes of course it helps, you're tuning your fine motor senses through repetition. It's the same mechanism that people use to get really good at sports, it's not complicated. But you have to make sure you're using the same mouse sensitivity in all the games you play otherwise the practice won't help.

You can use sites like mouse-sensitivity to convert your sens between games so that you keep it the same. People here refuse to counterbuy against gun heroes and will always bitch about them regardless of their strength, remember when Warden and Yamato were dominating the game and all this general was doing was whining about Haze?
