Bandai did Animemons dirty by not giving them any high lore hierarchy.
In the anime, Venom Myotismon evolved thanks to the freaking Beast of Revelation chapter from the Bible, ready to bring the end of the world. Surely he is a big deal...?
Well no, somehow this gigantic red devil doesn't represent anything in lore materials, he's not related to any higher powers outside of Adventure.
Likewise Wargrey and Metalgaruru appear thanks to some angelical prophecy to fight him, but aren't relevant in the bigger digital world from later entries.

I remember when back in world MetalGreymon was the strongest Perfect, and lorewise it sounded imposing how countless Greymon insert mechanical implants on their bodies but fail evolution, becoming the rotten blue skin version, but only a few special ones are the Vaccine orange version.
At least in that old pokedex lore, MetalGreymon was strong. And Wargreymon was mentioned as a legendary warrior, the strongest dragon fighter or something along those lines, even carrying legendary items like the Brave Shield and Dramon Killers...... But he's nothing but Average after Adventure. Just a stepping stone to get to Omegamon, the actual legend.
Leomon is mentioned too as some lone hero who fights evil through the world, constantly training with tons of scars, and again he's some average adult.

(Metal)Etemon, Piemon, Puppetmon, MetalSeadramon... All average or even low tier mons in all future series/games because they don't belong to any organizations, even Machinedramon is nothing special you don't see him going against the RKs or 3 great angels.

I had to contemplate a lot if I wanted to evolve my Mugendra into him, I mean, Mugen coating himself in red chrome digizoid to perfect his body sounds cool BUT the design feels more so like an alternate Tyrannomon evo more so than a Mugendramon upgrade.
The X version absolutely looks like Mugen but deadlier.


I'll say Metalgarurumon X also salvages the design for me, considering how fucking disappointed I was since childhood since the cool Werewolf go back to 4 legs and just get some metal on top.

This is probably because of the General Rebalance Mod, wow what a bitch, I think I'll just deactivate it to grind.

I mean, I sorta got it. I spent 100 hours refusing to use those "cheap tactics" and I was playing through the game just fine without max-grinding, simply using my digimon as I got them and getting the necessary ABI...
But the second you DO want more choices and to experiment with a bigger roster you definitely want as much XP as possible. Not that Platinum Sukamon + Tactician was bad, but it was still about 1-2 levels per fight at some point meaning you'd need a lot to get to decent levels (60~)
Good thing I didn't save when evolving it, I'll just turn off the mod and evolve to get them with the right passive.
