Random personal thoughts:
-Felt like a return to form after rain code that I thought was decentish, HL feels a lot more kodaka
-The cast was really good overall, possibly one of the best
-Eito feels like Nagito done right
-Shouma is the most forced gimmick character I've seen in a while and yet he made me lmao a lot
-It's TOO LONG, there's TOO MUCH PADDING, some routes just overindulge
-Sumino fumbling and turning retard to serve the plot was infuriating and very forced
-Lacked a proper satisfying ending imo
-The routine elements felt too much like a chore at some point

Overall I liked it and respect it as its own thing, but I wouldn't like another game on the same formula unless they gave it a good refining

Every decision Takumi made after coming back got somebody killed, and they’re still not sure if he’s crazy or not after killing Eito and then claiming he’s from the future to justify it. It's funny because like, did they rest of the characters even consider the fact they really had no choice once the sponsor arrived?
The person on the tape recorder basically says anyone who doesn't join the game will be killed. Sure, you could assume they were bluffing, but last time they ignored a message on a blackboard giving them explicit instructions, Gaku was killed, so it makes some sense to assume they weren't bluffing. like What exactly did everyone think would happen? That if no one showed up the crazy guy with invincible killer bees would have just left them alone?

Sounds like it was a lot of that, hearing that Kodaka didn’t intend to write more than the 2 “main” scenarios but was forced to because they were screwed otherwise reminded me of my own college game project where I was the team lead and something similar happened. I let everyone pick the parts they wanted and I took what was left (menus/UI), but when we noticed the guy who wanted levels wasn’t making much progress I came up with the idea for everyone to make a level and I ended up making 2. Also wrote the story for it but we ended up not getting text implemented properly so the script just didn’t get used lol.

That’s why I just stick to dub in games, after years of playing Japanese stuff I can pick out certain words and tell that it’s not what they’re actually saying. It wouldn't be good if they remembered every route all at once. My idea was end of Serial Battles, Takumi finds the PLM right before Shion BTFO's the planet. Not knowing how it works, he leaps without a suit and uses his Special Redo while travelling through bloodspace, destabilizing it so much that he travels back in time but the SDU starts remembering bits and pieces of other timelines (Gaku remembering Calamity and insisting on sparing Eva or else they'll be cursed, Tsubasa remembering KG and grappling with her feelings, Yugamu remembering Slasher and becoming a minor antagonist, et cetera) culminating in everyone remembering the events of S.F and Mystery

My biggest fear is a repeat of raincode dlc, where they tried to sell 1 hour of badly written sidequest story for like 5 dollars

I thought about this too, I was thinking that instead of Takumi going back to Day 2, he goes back to the day when him, Darumi and Takemaru look for Eito (day 6? I forgot). So the "kill Eito" decision would be finding him versus letting him die. This choice determines what routes the characters remember, and without Eito nobody will remember 2nd scenario
