>FAQ:>Q: How often should I long rest?>A: Many companion and romance interactions occur when long resting. Some early lower priority camp scenes can also be missed if higher priority ones are queued. To advance companion quests or romances, make sure to long rest often.>Q: Can I recruit Minthara without going down the evil path?>A: If you knock her out in Act 1, yes. You do miss out on the sex scene, but otherwise the romance remains the same.>Q: Underdark or Mountain Pass?>A: Either, or both. It's recommended to clear both on higher difficulties for the experience and loot. Both connect to the same Act 2 map.>Q: Is The Dark Urge essentially "Tav+"?>A: Yes. You get additional content, BUT there are points where, if you've chosen to resist the Urge and/or don't complete quests the "right" way, you'll have to pass additional checks to avoid losing companions.>Q: Are there any consequences to consuming tadpoles?>A: No, for the most part. However if you've consumed any tadpoles, there will later be a DC 21 Wisdom check to reject the Astral-Touched Tadpole, which affects your appearance if consumed.>Q: Should I enable Karmic Dice?>A: Karmic Dice will avoid streaks of low rolls, both for you and the enemy. It is recommended to disable it if you're specializing.>Polls:>Romance: https://strawpoll.com/NMnQ5kJXYn6>Race: https://strawpoll.com/kjn18WPzeyQ>Class: https://strawpoll.com/eNg69DKKjnA>Companions: https://strawpoll.com/bVg8o8l3VnYOP pasta: https://rentry.org/bggpasta

Looking up melee class mods is pure pain.
>so my class mod is blood themed and they dual wield longswords and they generate stacks so they can do finishers and the weapons are coated in fire and they start with a hood so they look cool and they
>>529283349isn't that the joke? Shart is looking at the camera sourly because she can't swim
>>529266801 Whatโs weird is that in DOS2, the game BG3 is a reskin of, stealing works normally and organically with respect to small delays in realization and being able to steal red stuff when in a different room from the owner(s). So they intentionally ruined it.

Is there a mod that gives paladins some other element of smite?
I find it odd that my bladesinger/paladin is hitting enemies with a shadow blade that explodes with radiance.

>>529303260Astarion hates gnomes
>>529303340Shart's distate for Gith is mainly based on the fact that she sees any Gith as someone that threaten her mission by wanting to take back the artifact, so she's essentially using that as an excuse to shit on Lae'zel at every opportunity.
She also saw all her companions get killed by Gith.
And they also fucked with her mind before the mission, so it wouldn't surprise me if they also dipped in some Gith racism because why the fuck not.
>she's allowed to do what other characters can'tAstarion not liking gnomes is pretty established
>>529275068My camera accidentally angled up in camp and I briefly saw a huge void of black, no sky. I don't know if this game has a skybox...
I'm coming into this game from a /tg/ background, and I'm having trouble wrapping my mind around it. The DnD style mechanics make sense, but I'm dying all over the place in the early game and it's demotivating. My instincts that the game will be balanced around my party is basically incorrect, and it's very easy to walk into unwinnable situations while undergoing exploration. There is no human GM giving me direction on how to progress more evenly, or suggesting tasks that are more my speed. Challenges just exist in the world and some of them are brutally more than I'm ready for.
Does anyone have advice for how to approach playing this game so that I have a better time at it?
>>529306680Are you playing on tactician or something?
>>529304034Bleak fucking future
>>529306680It's very easy on a first playthrough to run into encounters that are too difficult for your level, simply due to bad luck. Just go somewhere else until you're stronger. You can basically hit level 4 with nothing but non-combat XP, at which point you should be better prepared for most of Act 1.
Is mono hexblade really that bad like people say?
Struggling to ever think why would I play a Tome/Chain Pact warlock over a Blade, even without being a Hexblade.
>>529306680Take advantage of heights, gravity is the strongest element in BG3.
>>529302309The only good class mod is that one that adds "Gobbomancy" that lets you summon goblin minions.
>>529308862Tome gets haste I guess?
Call lighting is also good for conserving their limited spell slots.
Chain is hot garbage though.
>>529306680lower the difficulty
>>529308826Look at it this way, the best physical attacker is the TB Monk. After that it's a hasted Fighter in difficulty modes lower than Honor. After that it's Fighter (Honor) tied with any extra attacking multiclass in difficulty modes under Honor, with Paladin mixes leading for smite damage. Right after that would be where pure Hexblade, Paladin, and Swords Bard (purely melee, no CC) would be, as they all have different usable smites.

cobsonbros?
>>529308826No its not bad. Shadow blade is stupidly good.
They also get booming blade natively.
Resonance stone makes it almost unfun strong.
>>529308826No, they get upcasted SB, they're good. I hit for around 80 per hit in act 3, and attack with it thrice (2 attacks and Belm). The specters and the armor of Hexes are pretty worthless features, but hitting this kind of damage while also having Eldritch Blast for ranged and for psychic immune enemies, on top of usable CC and AoE and also a couple of summons (Elemental and Mummy) makes for a really strong character.
>>529298780Soon we will infect /crpgg/ with our degeneracy!

>>529296016thats incorrect my character is a male he just has long hair which is common among male elves
>>529306680Everything in Act 1 is doable with a lv 4 party so if you are getting wrecked, I'd just take it slow, talk to every NPC, loot everything, and get to lv 5 before doing fights so that you have an advantage.
Buy more health potions too. Early game, you have bonus actions but can't do much except drink potions so it's a good excuse to heal yourself every turn.

i feel like a jew rigging this shit so hard
you said that i was going to lose my honor run on the gith patrol or Grym and i`ve now beaten them both, whats your next prediction
I'm so annoyed. First honor mode run, third attempt. Finally taking on the goblin camp. I go to free Halsin, but during the conversation decide I want to back out of the conversation and pull the lever to start the fight. So I choose the do-nothing dialogue option. This agros Halsin, and after killing all the goblins and worgs, who were allied to me for some reason and wouldn't agro at all, I knock Halsin out non-lethal. But the game still considers him dead. So very, very annoyed.

>>529326276He's talking about a mod being bad. Kind of weird to bring up unprompted but I've done that kind of thing myself before.
>>529341812It's even weirder because the mod does exactly what it say: add extra encounters and minibosses. You don't like the encounters? Just skip them or don't even install the mod.
>>529333881Orin, Minthara, Shart, Asty, and Lazy all share a similar story in the game. They're all mindbroken slaves to an abuser figure who either get help to escape or get ruined further/die.
Wyll has a similar story too, though he's less of a mindbroken slave but it's still an abuser story that he either gets help escaping or he's worse off.
The entire game is abusive authority figures mistreating the protagonists, and you either escape or get ruined by it. If you're playing as Durge, it even applies to you as well.
Meanwhile Jaheira and Minsc are spectators at the circus.
>>529341959I can only assume he was trying to get people to talk about it. I haven't tried it as yet so I don't really have anything to say on the matter.

>>529342829Wait what? What does killing Isobel have to do with Shart killing Aylin?
>>529342591While we're on the subject of the mod, I wanted to ask if it's purely combat encounters or do "encounters" include roleplay/non-combat content? It doesn't really say on the mod page.
>>529343153I'm at the end of Act 2 and they've all been instant-aggro combat. Which kind of makes sense, text-only dialogue or God forbid AI slop would have been jarring.
>>529343153Just battle content.
The additional enemies mod adds in extra generics that sometimes cause two regular encounters to chain together, for example the hook horrors mostly all aggro together with the wizard.
>>529342591I think the guy is referring to the duelist fight, when is dumb and gay.
>>529343625There are actually two of those. I wasn't sure if I was missing some trick with the second one just mirroring damage, but I was about to long rest anyway so I didn't really give a shit.
What's /bgg/'s beef with Halsin? Is it because heโs a hot man and most people on that sub are straight men? Is it because heโs a poly socialist? Is it because heโs a chill, emotionally mature guy who politely asks if youโre down to fuck and then backs off the moment you say no? What is their problem?
There are companions I donโt personally vibe with either, but Iโve never felt the need to make rant posts about how they shouldโve never been included or how they should be replaced with random, less-hot NPCs. (Like, really? People said Kagha shouldโve replaced him? If itโs the redemption angle they want, we already have like three of those with the female companions, done better and with more interesting personalities.)

and this time without force crashing the game when I would get an outcome I didn't like
>encounter an obvious siren ambush
>sneak around a bit
>the sirens don't seem to actually be present on the map as physical entities
>walk a little bit further
>harpies spawn and get a jump on me
>one even spawns in a spot I JUST walked on
I don't enjoy Larian encounter design. Also, every fucking bandit and goblin seem to be carrying around a flask, or grenade or some sort which creates a hazardous "surface" on impact. Or an arrow with a fucking grenade strapped to it. They're going overboard with the "surfaces". I'd like to be able to have a combat encounter sometimes, which can be resolved with good ol' attack dice rolls. I get it, it's "clever" to use your environments in combat, and like shove enemies into pitfalls etc. But it feels really unnatural when enemies are just carrying the "environments" in their pockets, and can just pull them out any time.
>>529375810>harpy spawnsYou failed stealth. If you were stealthed and got close, you'd roll for a Perception check to see the harpies in their starting positions. This goes for most ambush fights in general.
>surfacesYou might've had a case during beta but the current state is the Wizards Approved(TM) toned-down version of elemental surfaces, the way Wizards deems acceptable for a D&D game.
>>529376358>you'd roll for a Perception check to see the harpies in their starting positionsNo, you don't get it. They're not stealthed on their starting positions. They only spawn in combat. They're not physically present on the map. Except maybe the one on the very top. And to get to that one unnoticed, I would've had to walk across her cone of vision in broad daylight. Which is... not impossible with an invisibility spell/potion, I guess. But that would be a luxury at this point in the game. If it's even available yet.
>the Wizards Approved(TM) toned-down version of elemental surfacesOh, yeah, I don't doubt that. I tried DOS2 before, but couldn't get into it. And it was much worse back then. I still think it's a bit too much. A group of bandits would rush me with their clubs and axes in hand, not throw grenades into the room I'm in, like it's WW2.
>>529376712There is no honour in war, only winning.
>>529349304anon did astarionsisters teach you nothing about the dark triad
>>529365854The game isn't really out there to trick or punish you for picking the "wrong" dialogue option - there are very few, obvious ways to tank approval through dialogue. Regardless, approval is largely inconsequential beyond certain (low) thresholds, aside from earning you softer greetings. Roleplay is what matters. It isn't unexpected to gently push against Shadowheart's beliefs at some point, unless your character is just a doormat or a fool who completely agrees with Sharran rhetoric.
I still think that "Shadowheart" is a really stupid name. And the game acknowledges that by saying that Shart was bullied by other Shar kids for picking this idiotic name. Nice one, Swen.
>>529377342It's a cool fantasy name. Not any worse than (Sylvanas) Windrunner, (Tyrande) Whisperwind, or (Maiev) Shadowsong.
>>529377606Yeah, but it sounds like some 14-year-old's idea of a cool, edgy name. Which again, makes sense for Jen trying to pose as an egelord, even though she's fundementally the most kindhearted girl in the Realms.
I wish she actually got back to her real name in Act 3, but I get that would be a pain in the ass to implement, with every line in the game having to be re-recorded to acknowledge this change.
Talking about Shadow Blade, why no one ever mentions Sorcadin? Just like Bladesinger and Hexblade they get to upcast Shadow Blade to max power, are they really that outclassed by Bladesinger and Hexblade? I think they should be pretty solid.
>>529378460It is solid.
downsides of it are assuming you want paladin's extra attack it'll be by level 12 before you can fully upcast a shadowblade and you'll have less spell slots than a 2 paladin/10 bladesinger with the upsides being the paladin auras you can get at level 6 paladin.
I think you can get the hound summon at level 6 shadow sorcerer which could be fun with the build.
>>529377342in my localization they translated 'Shadow' as Umbra and heart as 'soul'. Still weird but it sound more of a name.
>>529382670The most retarded translation of "Shadowheart" is hands down the Polish one. Not only is it a mouthful, it's not even a name.

Don't cause another "debate" with him
Scorcher of Souls on Hard was tough, I didn't rest after Hepzamirah/Baphomet just to see if I could manage it.
The lich power "Deadly Magic" is really powerful but there's a couple of issues I need to keep in mind:
1) if it's on and I cast something like Siphon Time, then the "no magic casting" affects everyone, companions and enemies alike.
2) it's only three rounds and it stays on so it's REALLY easy to just lose it all pointlessly.
3) I always forget to use it since it needs a bit of care to use and I have so many other things. But man is it powerful.
Scorcher of Souls starts at like 70 AC and his first round he sunbursts you, most likely blinding everyone. Second round is this Fire Storm/Sirocco combo that is absolutely devastating. I flew through Hepzamirah and her crew, basically everything here in Colyphyr mines, but this action by him takes out 3-4 people pretty much without recourse. Woljif has Seamantle, Daeran has a Ring of Evasion and pretty high Dex but my KC, Cam, and Nenio are essentially guaranteed to go down.
Not sure how I'd do it without Deadly Magic honestly. I suppose go rest up and pile on some fire immunity/resistance, communal stoneskin and hope for the best, even at the least getting to the downed KC with a raise dead/resurrect in time. Likely too far negative to come back with a single breath of life/inspiring recovery.
Whew, I'd say that's been the toughest fight so far in the game. AND now we get to level before heading back to the Nexus, fuck yeah.
Side note: I really fucking hate the way Dispelling works in this game. It's amazing to me that protections and stripping protections/debuffs is somehow 10x better in oldBG from 25 years ago. Is this an Owlcat thing or a PF thing?

>>529445379Savage Attacker is superior to GWM for classes like Paladin and Rogue who can throw a lot of dice. But outside of these cases, two-handed builds are superior to one-handed ones, damage-wise, because of GWM. And that's before accounting for GWM's BA attack on a kill or crit, which further widens the gap. One-handers remain competitive in BG3 because of good options like Duelist's Prerogative or Belm, but you only get these when the game is already almost over.

Endless death and war for literally no purpose, in the first level of Hell. Can there be no more appropriate punishment than to experience such a thing? Why would you keep adding retards to your camp if you only need 3 and those can fill any role needed? Didn't DOSII just locked you out from the companions you didn't travel with after Act 1? >>529490046Larian was going to do the same in BG3 but people expressed they really didn't like losing companions like you did in DOS2 so they had to change shit to keep them. >>529490804>DOS2 and its relatively smaller success is what Larian sticking to their vision looks like.BG3's commercial success and mass appeal is the result of them listening to player feedback.
No, its the result of having an 80 year old massively popular ip in a 50 year old massively popular setting and the name recognition of probably the most acclaimed crpg in history. Plus really high production values. It's easy to see for anyone with a basic understanding of game design that DOSII, although in reality an experimental game, is far better designed and more coherent than BG3.
>>529490804>DOS2 and its relatively smaller success is what Larian sticking to their vision looks like.larian also listened to a shitton of fan feedback during dos2's early access, they have literally always listened to the fans that's the entire point of their definitive editions lol

shadow sorcerer could be cool tho
you start with the equivalent of devilsight and can see through darkness
give it direct damage spells that use shadow effects for spell slots 1-3 like a damaging mist and soul rip. your darkness spell radius is larger and slows any enemy caught instead it
then at level 6 add a passive that causes your shadow magic to deal double damage to any heavily obscured target/in darkness and another that adds a withering debuff effect to any enemy that has received damage from your shadow magic
then add a level 6 spell that darkens the entire battlefield for 2 turns and another level 6 spell that lets you shatter the soul and instantly kill any enemy with 30% hp or less remaining. if the spell kills, it does not consume a spell slot but it cannot be twincasted
>>529547298I didn't mean getting healed by fire but creating healing fire by e.g. throwing a heal potion on a fire surface or blowing one up with a fire spell.
>>529548013That's a thing? Wow. Does the healing potion convert the whole fire surface? Is it a heal over time while it's burning? How long does it last? Does it disappear on the first person touching it like a smashed healing potion?
>>529548368Haven't really tested it much. I found out about it by mistaking a heal potion for alchemist fire and blowing it up with a firebolt. It created a surface equal to what the potion would create of healing fire that healed one creature for the same amount as the potion. I suspect that if the surface is created from another source then the healing effect could spread wider and last longer.

>>529555268Complexity does not equal depth. This is crucial in game design. DOS2 having 4 or 40 different "elemental surfaces" doesn't mean it's the deeper game - especially as players eventually figure out the optimal combinations and discard the rest. BG3 allows for low complexity but high depth. What you think of as "uninteresting" is just your inability to accept the game's depth, even as it spoonfeeds you the "optimal" solutions - vulnerability to [damage type], for example.
>>529564087While I agree that DOSII isn't a really deep game the breadth of choices does promote creative thinking that can be fun for a certain subset of players. The same is also applied for BG3 of course. It's not a deep game by the same argument you apply to DOSII. Optimal strategies are very easy to figure out and abuse leaving all other options to disuse. E.g it doesn't matter if you have 4 spells or 40 since you are always going to use that 4 spells.

Why are the Druids conducting the ritual when you arrive at the Grove? You only arrive at the exact same time when the druids find out that Halsin may be dead. Its nothing confirmed though. Halsin opposed the ritual yet tensions are already high when you arrive and everybody acts like Halsin has been dead for days. Did Kagha just take over right after Halsin left? What if he came back? Why did everybody just do what she told them to when Halsin was gone for a few days at most? What if Halsin came back after the ritual was a success? Supposedly he is still at charge and Kagha would just conduct day to day business in his absence so what authority does she have to order the ritual? How can the shadow druids hide as rats? Wouldnt the emerald grove druids immediately notice that those are not real rats?
Game makes no sense from the beginning.
>>529597091>Why are the Druids conducting the ritual when you arrive at the Groveto get rid of the thiefling squatters
>Whiters: the dead three want to turn everybody into mindflayers to destroy all the souls and deprive the Gods of them.
>Gortash: We want to infect key people to mind control them and then rule from the shadows.
So which one is it? Because Gortash never says the plan was to turn everybody into mindflayers. In fact he seems unhappy about the prospect when he brings it up in the throne room. Why is Withers just talking out of his ass?
>>529597209But Halsin welcomed them and he is in charge. Before Aradin escaped all they knew is that Halsin was gone for a few days and would be back soon. So again what authority does Kagha have to order this ritual, which mind you is considered evil and forbidden.
What is Jaheira doing in the shadowlands? Why doesnt she just leave and warn everybody that an evil undead monster is raising an evil army to wage war on Baldurs Gate? Why doesnt she go back to ask for help? Or her daughter says she sent her a message when you meet her at the house, so why didnt she send a SOS to some commanding harper who could help her? What is she trying to achieve in these death lands? What was her plan? What if Tav didnt just come out of the shadows by chance?
>>529597590authority is only as strong as the ability to project it. once he's gone = no more authority
>>529597915I am sure there is a consensus even among hippy druids that just because the first druid leaves for a few days doesnt mean you can totally oppose his orders.
Everybody seems to respect him too so its not like he was hated. What if they locked him out of the grove? Makes no sense at all.
>>529598281>I am sure there is a consensus even among hippy druids that just because the first druid leaves for a few days doesnt mean you can totally oppose his ordersand yet they were halfway completing the ritual. so your consensus is wrong
>>529598353No its just shitty writing.
>Jaheira gets ambushed one time outside the city itself by shapeshifters
>she immediately abandons the harpers and seeks out the help of the mafia with no reason to assume nine fingers hasnt been replaced by a shapeshifter already
I am sure a centuries old independent spy network has some kind of contingency in place in case the organisation is compromised. Especially since Sarevok used changelings only like two decades or so earlier.
>>529598435nah you're just imparting your worldview of authority being absolute onto the world
>>529598756Then why did nobody oppose Kagha when its just might makes right? Obviously because Halsin appointed her his substitute, so she derives her power over the grove from Halsin even in his absence.
because she's in command and she's there
Reminder that there a few generic druids that join in on the side of the shadow druids if you dont convince Khaga to stand down.
>>529598997Halsin put her in charge, if his absence completely negates his authority then in extension Kagha would lose her authority too.
The druids were afraid of the goblins, it wasn't the tieflings. When halsin was gone, Kagha used their fear of the goblins to get half the grove to support her in doing the ritual, to protect themsleves from the goblins. But through our investigation we learn that it was a shadow druid plot, and they were just using that fear to dupe them into conducting the ritual, and Kagha was their useful idiot.
It wasn't that they wanted to disobey Halsin, it was more that Halsin left with Aradin to go to the goblin fort, and then did not come back with them, and the mercs had stories of losing half their squad to goblins. So some of them assumed the worst. It was unclear whether he would ever be coming back, and Kagha took advantage of the uncertainty.
They could have supported the tieflings and then happily sent them on their way after giving them lodging and food, which was Halsin's plan, but the goblins searching the area changed that plan and made everyone fearful and willing to go against his wishes.
>>529598932Rath does openly oppose her, but she's just as powerful as him if not more powerful, and she had her fair share of supporters. He knows it would have been an outright bloodbath resulting in close to zero living druids, so he opposes her and seems willing to die for it during the shadow druid confrontation scene, but most of the druids are not willing to fight and kill and die over it, they just let the ritual happen even if it's not what they would have voted for.

>Halsin might be maybe dead because Aradin ran away without checking on him
>so we have to join the evil druids because its hopeless
>we have to lock up our Grove even though we believe the Goblins are only after the Tieflings anyway
>even doe Halsin is a perfectly capable caster and can turn into a bear or a rat or a bird and just come back at any point
>>529599556By random I mean not that story relevant.
>>529599479My personal impression was that the ritual doesn't actually care who has the ritual scarring, Cazador had a self-imposed desire for the final piece to be Astarion, his spawn. He's a control freak and the fact that Astarion slipped through his grasp bothered him, so he devoted resources to recapturing Astarion and having his perfect vision of his ritual restored, rather than settling for a substitute. It fits with her prior behavior and characterization, and explains why he postponed the ritual instead of just getting a new 7000th victim.
>>529599798so if he was less of a retard he could have ascended THEN went after ass?

>>529599852That is my impression, yes. Control freak, perfectionist, whatever term you want to use. But a personality complication encouraged him to take an inefficient route which ended up biting him later on when Tav and his impenetrable plot armor showed up.
>>529599852He was a vampire lord capable of completing the ritual to become the Vampire Ascendant, he probably thought a mere spawn (or maybe even anyone else period) could never be his equal. Is it retardation if you are just that powerful?

How did Wyll and Karlach get infected? Supposedly when the ship was flying through Avernus they jumped on, according to Karlach at least. Why was Wyll chasing her in Avernus? Did she defect while in Avernus? Why? How? Why didnt Zariel just send, idk, like 10.000 devils after her instead of telling Mizora to take care of it? Anyway, how did they jump on the ship? It was flying high up and it never went that close to some kind of mountain or anything. And even if Karlach somehow managed to do it, how did Wyll? He was running after her so by the time he would get his chance to jump the ship would already be far away. Who infected them on the ship? It was burning and the mindflayers were busy fighting the Cambions. Did a mindflayer stop them and hold them down and force the worm inside their skulls? How? Supposedly at that point they were still super badasses, I am sure they could have handled a mindflayer without being restrained in a pod.

Jaheira ditched the Harpers because they're weak shitters with no power, balls, or discipline. He ignored the contingency. No point keeping them around.
You have a point about Nine-Fingers though. One could argue that because the guild wasn't working with the Absolute, it wasn't taken over, but it could be part of the cover they're maintaining until it's time. I guess since you were theoretically on Jaheira's side, you could help Jaheira check Nine-Fingers for a tadpole for that case. But is a guild of criminals any more reliable than the Harpers? Doubtful. Jaheira could just be desperate. Or irrational because she's still obsessed over losing Minsc. Hell, she gives up and leaves the game if Minsc dies so that wouldn't be far off the mark. I don't think she takes the kids with her though...so that "I'm not your witch, Minsc" speech she gives to Minsc really sounds fake.

>>529632075That's completely unusable tough, honestly we should move as far away as possible from 5e, the more CRPG and other tabletops I play, the more I realize how 5e seems to be hellbent on making everything as dull and unfun as possible for the sake of "balance" while also failing at that.
>>529631881It's a cool concept but honestly make it a separate spell entirely at this point, Shadow Dagger or something, and let it coexist with SB.
If Hex targeted all rolls for a stat rather than just checks, how broken would it be?
>>529637816>The damage die is cut in half, which is more than 3 damage on partial martials who often take features to re-roll damage. This is partially made up for by the free hexed weapon, though I'm looking into applying it only to attack rolls, not damage. Here's the DPR compared based on how your mod works, anon. Assuming 14 Dex on the caster:
>2nd Level: 2d4+3(Avg.8) vs 4d4+0+2(Avg.12)>3rd Level: 3d4+1+4(Avg.13) vs 3d8+0+2(Avg.16)>4th Level: 4d4+1+4(Avg.15) vs 3d8+0+2(Avg.16)>5th Level: 5d4+2+5(Avg.19) vs 4d8+0+2(Avg.20)>6th Level: 6d4+2+5(Avg.22) vs 4d8+0+2(Avg.20)If you remove the enchantment bonus at the 3rd and 5th Level upcast tiers, it becomes:
>2nd: 8 vs 12>3rd: 12 vs 16>4th: 14 vs 16>5th: 17 vs 20>6th: 20 vs 20That's a smoother progression, reaching parity with vanilla Shadow Blade if cast at 6th Level, with an actual benefit for upcasting at levels between tiers. So no, you don't need to remove the free hex, you just need to remove the free enchantment.
If you wanted to really weaken it and shift the benefits to your mod's other features:
>weaponizing bonus action, later reaction, additional weapon actionsYou could even drop one die per level, then it becomes:
>2nd: 6 vs 12>3rd: 9 vs 16>4th: 12 vs 16>5th: 15 vs 20>6th: 18 vs 20This is the option I'd personally pick. Hope my autism helped!
>>529640168This is really useful. I confess, I didn't bother crunching the DPR and just winged it based on tabletop averages. I like the final option the best too, though I'll keep the enchantment because it gives you a reason to upcast to the final level.
>>529638457I make mods for myself primarily, and I don't like how boring Shadow Blade is. Mods are optional, so no one has to download it if they don't like it. I'm not their real DM.
>>529640168>>529640610>>529637816why not just remove the free TWF passive?
origin male character with overly feminine looks and thought process who cries like a bitch for me (a girl who wants to be a femboy anime vampire) to comfortably self insert as?

>>529308826kek, no. shadowblade mono-hexblade is like exploit-tier broken even without taking the resonance stone or devil's sight + Darkness into account, which jump it up to cheat-ier
why does anyone believe in selune? literally a god that does nothing. while all the others are giving things to their followers.
does the game ever get better, or does it stay as unfinished, badly written slop? just reached the lower city and its pretty bad so far, but maybe it picks up in the upper city idk

Good job.

Wonder if I should make her hair white.
>>529649545>literally a god that does nothingShe helps maintain a fragile equilibrium. Without her, Shar's eternal night would engulf the world. That's your idea of "doing nothing"?
Alright, about to take on the zaith'isk in my first honor run. I've got a potion of heroism on, 4 inspirations, shadowheart to hit me with resistance. Is there anything else I can do to prepare to make sure I pass all three saving throws?
>>529656542You could respec a companion into a Bard for Bardic Inspiration. Normally, I'd say this is too cheesy, but that's clearly not a concern of yours if you want the ghaik buff.
>>529657593I would, but gold's a bit tight. So tight I resorted to pickpocketing for the first time to get the sword of the undermountain king.
>>529657748you can steal gold back from withers for free.
Lae'zel is so talented she is Vlaakit-I mean the Emperor's #1 law enforcer

warding bond
paladin aura

correllon's grace - staff which increases saving throws when not wearing armour

>>529657748You have a source of infinite money inside your camp though. How are you running out?
>>529660568I am admittedly not well versed in the game. What infinite money do you refer to?
>>529660659Don't worry about it then. Learning about it will just ruin the fun for you.
On the money front, you just need to loot harder. There is enough loot sitting around the map in Act 1 to buy out every shopkeeper NPC of their good shit legitimately. Everything that's double digits is worth looting because it adds up quickly and there are a lot of it. Junk swords, bows, armours, shit like that.
>>529661149In my first two runs I mostly just looted good weight to value ratio items. Now I'm looking bones, skulls and shovels and I'm having much worse time affording stuff than in tactician or easy mode.
>>529661840Oh, are you bribing the merchants too? Gotta be +100 Attitude with them for maximum discounts. I guess I should say I had Wyll earn his keep by being a max CHA + Persuasion merchant.
>>529662427I barter up Dammon, since he's a long term investment. Wanted to barter up that one zhent halfling in the goblin camp and later in moonrise, but didn't really have the funds for it. I'm even selling magic items I won't use, in past playthroughs I just hoarded them in the camp chest. Prices must be higher in honor mode or something.
>>529662623You need to bribe at lv 1 (400 gold) vs high level (4300 gold). I just respec'd him every time I do the rounds in a new map.

>>529662760Well, I did get a bit lazy on that front. I went and wasted 400 gold with a bard hireling to get a merchant to max, only to find out the pricing only changed with that hireling, rather than the party. I'm not gonna switch over to a useless hireling every time I want to buy or sell.

>>529649545selune was a lot more active in shart's storyline before all the rewrites in act 2. idk why they basically cut all her involvement
yes I can post meaningless things too. which hogwarts house would companions be sorted into? i am so funny tehehe
>>529666508>helps out her child with powerfuls adds if someone chooses to betray herNot much help if a bunch of lvl 12 murdehobos can still beat her child sensless and imprison it for possibly centuries. Again. And all of that could be avoided if she just rezed her cleric and child's lover in the first place. She is actually the one to blame for the shadow curse and kethrics fall.
>>529667105>she should've done all this extra free shit for a backstabbing loser so he wouldn't backstabNo. Ketheric was a loser and him being unable to cope with grief was his own fault. Especially in a setting where the afterlife is a real thing so it's not like the dead are gone forever (most of them, anyway).
