If they're so worried about the conversation of why doesn't Sonic kill Eggman then don't put him in those situcations in the comic to begin with, just have the slippery bastard escape it's not like running away out of Sonic's reach is out of character for him nor is surviving impossible odds either, he left colors stranded in space likely to starve to death if he didn't get lucky and run into the time eater
