That's mostly because both older Digimon anime and modern Digimon game target two completely different demographics. Older Digimon anime are kodomo anime, targeting little 4-6 year old boys with stock fight animations and simplistic characters with more emphasis put on the fights than the story. Meanwhile, Digimon Story targets the older male otaku market, one that has evolved into prioritising cute female characters over anything else. It's closer to compare it to other otaku adjacent media like the influx of isekai anime that exist right now, like Sword Art Online. Despite partaking in what is a male hobby, 99% of the cast consists of cute female characters with appealing designs doing what used to be traditionally male roles. The strongest character in the series is female, all of the party members are female, all the merch and marketing is around the females. Meanwhile, the male is a boring, blank slate that exists solely for the lonely otaku to insert themselves into. As such, female characters are "better written" because the writers know that the audience doesn't care for male characters and give the female characters more agency and presence in the series. And no, shounen anime do not count since those usually target 10-12 year old boys and not the older 20-25 male otaku market.

Are you in CS or HM? If in the former, there should be a sidequest with a Hagurumon, where you can fight enemies with way higher level, so you could start out running one plat shit and two hitters, then once you level up enough, use two and one hitter. Alternatively, just wait for later. Best grind spot is usually towards the end game anyway. Also, might as well switch to normal difficulty while grinding. Difficulty has no bearing on EXP, only on money and item drops.

Give them INT through either INT Attaches if you don't have Tactician USBs stuck on them, or change them to Braint through the use of personality patches, or reroll them by returning them to data and converting them until they're Brainy, then train them for INT on the farm. I like mecha so I like MetallifeKuwagamon but Bolgmon is a Guntank though so he is better. The classic Xenomorph bugs are the best though. And I like Kokuwamon for Mecanorimon and Andromon too so if makes Metallife look better with him I just didnt have room to add it.

Get someone with Support End and use it on Cherubimon to prevent the passive heals, then nuke Ofanimon. I don't remember how susceptible those three assholes were to Character Reversal, but that's also an option. Duftmon/Examon probably won't do too well, the former is INT based, and so are they, so they will wall him off (and Leopard mode is kinda eh), and the latter doesn't have piercing or similiar.
