I really don't understand how my dumbass, sitting between a hill and a building not even close to an OBJ, with 1 assist and zero kills or caps can draw the entirety of the enemy team.
There was three fucking tanks capturing A. Three. 3 whole tanks and a plane decided to come for me? Like nigga I haven't even shot a round in 5 minutes I've been essentially AFK. Not to mention that whole time I was cowering from 3 heavy tanks that just so happen to keep looking at me despite being shot at from another direction. One was literally next to a cap that was being captured and thought it would be a good idea to look at me.

That's because WWM wasn't what people thought it would be. They expected the campaign map that you see before getting into a match to BE the match, playing out in real time over the course of days, EC on crack essentially. What they got was a shitty fucking series of no-effort self-contained minigames. No wonder it flopped.
And Sim (at least Air sim where you actually can play what you want, when you want) DOES get played, it's just that the barrier of entry is so much higher that it's naturally way less popular.

Take into consideration that the Ariete cannot grind the whole tree, but that's not a problem at all since Italy has pretty fun jets after that rank. I personally did Ariete -> MiG-21BIS -> MiG-29 -> Tornado ADV -> AV-8BII Super Harrier -> Eurofighter 2000.

All of these jets were very, very fun for me and the best part is that they all have a very different playstyle compared to each other. Ariete aside, unbelievably even for me, the second most fun i had with the Tornado ADV. The Tornado is mostly hated by the community because it's an absolute brick, but its radar is godly and it has unlimited (1200 iirc) chaffs.
This said, if you are able to play this pletora of planes, you'll virtually know the playstyle of every possible jet in the game.

Given that Gaijin has introduced separate battle ratings on the same vehicles split between different game modes, they don't really have any excuse not to model all of this in exchange for a later BR tax if they greatly increase kill rates for specialized interception-vulnerable attackers and dive bombers.
