This isn't really related to their strength, but I really do think that both the Recluse and Revenant are poorly made characters.
Neither adds anything fun to the spellcasting gameplay compared to base Elden Ring.
They're clunky, have to constantly worry about FP, have no melee options, only have access to a few spells.

Ironeye is the complete opposite, where they picked the dogshit bow gameplay from the base game and made it both fun and effective.

You know it's kind of wild how people keep citing From games as Berserk inspired, yet every claim is basically just "this knight with armor looks and sort of poses like this knight with armor!!" and people just ate it up.
The dragonslayer might be the only explicit homage, everything else is just grasping.
I also haven't seen a single time From or Miyazaki explicitly stated Berserk as a reference and I don't even think they acknowledged the author dying.

Almost nothing is actually holy in the game. Ironeye's story is about finding a chipped piece of a holy blade so he can do something. Executor's story has him finding some holy plants that shouldn't be in the bubble but are (you learn why in the endings).

Is solo the way to go? Every random I play with a is so damn bad but I want to play the less solo friendly classes too. I can get to 13-15 every time I do a solo run but when I turn on multiplayer people waste so much time trying to force the hard field bosses that we almost never hit 12+

Okay seriously I really don't get recluse, and I've played her a decent amount now. I know it's my fault since /erg/ and other places say she's really good but my brain is just NOT getting it.

She just feels SLOW AS FUCK, I don't mind her dodge but the amount of times you get to actually "tee off" feels so rare, even in multiplayer. Nightlord bosses definitely seem like they have AI where if you hit them with ranged damage they WILL want to go for you... and even if I successfully dodge it I've basically cucked my melee since they're just chasing me. And even if you're NOT being hit, the harder bosses are so spazzy it feels super easy to miss.

To top it all off, rng just fucks her it feels like, you can't start off with good magic, so you're just completely at the mercy of what drops and holy FUCK there's a lot of bad spells. I mean yeah, it's sick as fuck if you get the lussat staff, but really you're only gonna see it 1 in 10 runs.

only works on neutral R1 or L1. no running attacks, no rolling attacks, no jumping attacks. narrows your moveset for sure, but you can do some hacky shit to get around it, like alternating L1 with R1 during extended damage windows rather than just mashing L1, since alternating gives you the initial attack both times. It's impossible to wipe when you're literally immortal.
Revenant's ult makes you immortal for 15s. If all 3 cycle their ults, you're immortal for 45 seconds. By the time 45 seconds have passes, the first Revenant to ult already almost has her ult back because she's been hitting the boss uninterrupted (because she's immortal) this entire time.

Not to mention that all 3 summons ult whenever one of the Revenants ult, so you get 9 summon ults in total.

If you have the DLC and can get to it already, the DLC is a literal gold mine for a Guard Counter based build.
It has the Deflecting Hardtear which can enhance Guard Counter damage up to 80% and also the new weapon type of Thrusting Shields, which were also made for this exact type of build.

If you don't have the DLC or if you're not close to getting there yet, use a big shield + big weapon. The bigger the weapon, the more Hyper armor you get during the Guard Counter itself so you're not knocked out of it as easily. Like the other anon said, heavier armor helps with that. Don't forget to get the Curved Sword talisman that gives a free 20% bonus damage to Guard Counters.

No it doesn't lol. It's roughly the same as 2 but deals more damage than 1. Spamming them might be fine if you have the space and time, but nicely charged ones are better in a bossfight context like Fulghor.

It also does much better poise damage [nearly double, 9.25 compared to 5] and you can probably attribute that stancebreak near the end in my clip to the poise damage I'm putting out.

pink dots are death knights that drop orbs (if they have the death enchantment on their weapon they drop an orb)
lime dots are miniastels, if you have range and drop them to 66% hp, they disappear and give 20k runes, it's literally like 500 damage to do so, walk underneath them and pelt them with something ranged
you usually want to kill loretta or aghell, whichever is the side you're coming from (I'd default to loretta if you are choosing, agheel can waste a ton of time), on the way in, but this run had a guardian so I skipped that loretta because you'll be fighting it typically at level 8 or 9
a black knife will gank you regardless of the side you go, the west side has a royal revenant that a revenant can heal to death in two hits just beware of death frogs and don't fall into the hole
for timing, you basically want to waste little to no time once day 2 starts and head to noklateo, if you aren't inside it when the first circle on day 2 has finished closing just don't bother with astel, and if you are you need to be within the astel room in a couple minutes if you want to kill it depending on party damage
kill dragonkin soldier on your way out
all this is to say you need to get mostly whatever you want out of the way on day 1 if its churches, sorcerers rises, smithing stone 2 etc
