Over Rush look so sick. Pretty much the only huge addition of Rush to the franchise.

That OTS deck is looking interesting so far. Although I wonder if the Maximum they used in the anime is going to be viable, since it looks like there's going to be a bunch of fusions.

I've only really tried Animagica and Jointech as far as modern decks go. I tried making the fish deck yesterday on EDO, but when I went to try it out against the AI, the ritual monster kept moving to the main deck, so I must have messed something up in the settings. I thought choosing Rush Duel Prerelease as the format was enough.

i play the deck as mostly avian/sparkman/burstinatrix.
any 2 combination leads to something except spark+burst, ticks me off.

I'm bored so here a few things i would do to make rush better (don't care about DL rush that's a lost cause).

Here's the decklist!
It's almost identical to a decklist in Duel Links Meta, but I used different traps.
I really tried to use other decks, like Dragiastar Nova and Fullmetal Fist, but unlike other KoG runs, I absolutely could not win a single game with any deck other than this one. It's funny, since I felt Dragiastar Nova was a stronger skill last season. Maybe the way the good decks interact with the Luke skills in this particular meta make it so this deck has an advantage.
This deck is also not as braindead as other Luke decks, so I'm a bit tired of playing. It's still super cool, and I love it that the main deck are still capable of winning, even if only with the aid of an insane skill. I thought the future was only fusions after Dragiastar Nova came out.
I can't wait for what busted skill The Lukeman will bring when he shows up, either as a skin, a skill transformation or (hopefully) a full fledged character.

I insisted a LOT in Dragiastar Nova and Fullmetal Fist, but I was completely stuck in Gold 1, couldn't get any games at all.
I tried some bullshit 37 card Dragiastar Nova I saw in the Luke KoG decks from last month, with Shock Dragon and Dragon's Rock Closer and it worked shockingly well initially, but then I started to lose the same way as before.

I guess they could shill Metagiastar F, Zerogias, Gaigias and Zerogaigias, but those are all manga exclusive and The Lukeman never used any of them. There's Umbralancer F I guess, and maybe if it's accompanied by a busted skill it could work, but the card is kind of shit. Maybe they'd release Wicked Dragon of Darkness together with its fusion monster, because Dragon Knight of Darkness, but these cards literally just came out, soaybe not so soon. Then again, they gave HERO basically everything besides the Neos cards, and those are pretty recent.
My last guess is Tribemirror, Five-headed and Watermirror Serpent, since he's a fusion character or whatever, but I find that unlikely and wouldn't want all of Luke's voice lines to be overshadowed by these dragons

I was interested in Cross Duel until I saw the gameplay on some streams during the pre-launch they did. It looked really boring, so I ended up not downloading it. It also looked even more predatory than DL, which is honestly kind of impressive.

The Early Days collection is definitely pretty rough, but I've liked it so far. The Duel Monsters series is janky and has some baffling design choices (as do most Yugioh videogames and sims), but it does have a lot of charm and the GBC card art is surprisingly good. It's been interesting playing through the series in the collection, since most of those games stayed in Japan. And as for the ones that use the "expert" rules, the first one is basically just staple spam, but it gets more interesting later on, when there's more variety to the kinds of decks that one can build. Plus, it wasn't nostalgiaslop back then. It's nostalgiaslop when they keep bringing it back and doing endless retrains of old cards. But that's not exclusive to the DM era. GX is definitely not free from that.

I only ever played the first one and only once, but I remember Jaden being more of a burden than a help. Since we were both playing field spells (except mine was actually good), we kept stepping on each other's toes and he'd often end his turn with just a face-up Avian (accurate to the show, at least) or waste my disruptions on non-threats. And looking at DL, the AI hasn't improved much. I've watched some of the Speed characters with actual decent decks lose against level 10 opponents and the Rush ones pretty much just activate everything that can be activated, so I've seen them do things like using Talismanic on low level monsters. Supposedly they were working on better AI for Master Duel. Maybe if that turns out ok, they could do something with it. Although I doubt Konami would delve into single-player Yugioh games again when the live service ones are so profitable.

I don't even have enough copium to think there's any reasonable way in which a western print could catch up. I'm mostly hoping for a digital sim that's not Speed Duel pretending to be Rush. If not, at least as long as there's a Japanese print, EDO will hopefully keep updating.

I don't know why people treat "catching up" to Japan like it's some daunting task as if it hasn't been proven multiple times that it can be done just fine. The TCG was 3 years behind the OCG when it released. Non
English versions took up to 2 years longer. To this day, the TCG is still missing cards from the OCG that were printed in 1999. I don't think anyone is going to particularly mind if a western Rush release is missing some random vanillas any more than they are with TCG not having Tatsunootoshigo.
Even as recently as 2018, we had cards that existed in other languages of the TCG like Ojama Red getting their first Portuguese printing by adding extra cards into the OTS Packs.
Simplified Chinese and Asian-English were whole decades behind. They have a product model that focuses on getting as close to current with the Japanese/Korean OCG while gradually backfilling any notable cards they're missing, like deck cores belonging to whatever is getting legacy support in a new set. If you have some backrow to deal with the red-boot fusion when it appears (Riding or Widespread), then surviving the burn isnt too big of deal. You just need to crush the fusion asap and pray they cant recycle and remake it in the following turn
The deck also doesn't pierce iirc so unless they get curse of the rising light or flip/flap dragon, you're not always gonna be in imminent danger

as some one who mains the deck i can tell you the deck has little to do with splashability, there is a definitive best build out there and it's a no brainer to make.
the deck is simply that good, you can pop an absurd 3-6 cards EVERY TURN as you assemble an otk on field. aether dragons + justiciar + ceremonial sorcerer is a pain in the ass.
other decks have to work really hard just to get one removal in, MoBC can just rape your shit. setting spells so you can draw more next turn is a death sentence for those spells for example. also the legendary they like to run is Vanity's fiend, and they just tribute over it with aether dragon when they're done with him, making the deck more obnoxious.
basically rush duel is not ready for this amount of removal.

You know, I am not fundamentally against the idea of a deck being straight up busted and better than every other option, straight up tier 0 dominance.

My first ever KoG deck, my Metagias deck, is banlist legal again after this banlist! I am so happy, yet kind of sad that all of my Luke deck spaces are occupied with saved and favorited playable KoG decks again.

It's so sad. Manabu is way cooler, with a Salamander focus, Graphagas focus, the other boss monsters and different ways of combining them. So cool. Yuamu doesn't look like she has much diversity in possible decks. Kind of lame.

Also, for the bundle cards, I recommend picking one of the legend traps. Between widespread ruin, negate attack and compulsory evacuation device I recommend widespread ruin because it isn't in the banlist and therefore it doesn't conflict with any limit 1 card. Maybe consider buffered slime and rice terrace crisis only if you don't have any other limit 1 card.
And if you do make sevens road with the structure deck, maybe use tickets to get the third copies of magician and witch and go into the eternal Galaxy road box for straynge witch alone, and maybe into some box with Mr. Alchemy, as he's a N rarity and extremely strong.
Eternal Galaxy Road has the Excutie Riding trap, which is a very strong trap card that escaped the last banlist that just came out. The best generic trap in rush rn by far. Only one copy should be good enough. Players don't seem to play more than 2.

The format is good but the overtuned skills push some decks too hard. Speed is getting closer and closer to MD every release instead of curtailing the worst of it with the banlist and proper skill restrictions. Rush has a better handle of it but its still blatant when they overdo it

I do think not having an anime hurts a bit, but the last anime (VRAINS for the mainline) just shows how modern yugioh, even in a simplified format like Speed Duels, just gets way too complex and long for the average player to follow easily. Rush could be a newfag-friendly entry point but they wont release it internationally outside of Duel Links for some reason
(And even if they did, the community would probably just shit itself and call it "not yugioh" anyway, as they've done with paper vs MD vs DL vs RDL)

The main issue is that they are concerned about the games cannibalizing each other's player count. We already know there are concerns as to why there's no funneling between MD and Paper, and they've acknowledged DL's own appeal as something worth keeping it alive...so having a third game would just segment players further

Realistically speaking, the only way we get a new Rush game is for them to bite the bullet on the player count risk or DL or MD dying first to re-release with Rush Duels built in from the start. Why are Royal Demons so bad? Only one good monster in the entire deck and you have to hard draw it. The biggest "pop-off" this deck can manage is a little bit of piercing and some burn damage. In the past (pre-Dragiastar) there was an argument to keep Royals weak because when they're strong, the game becomes incredibly sacky, like when Invasion released.
But now that the top deck is literally "Draw Oblivion and activate skill to get Magnum Overlord 2.0", there's no reason to keep Royals in the cuckshed.
It can OTK using Perion + Doom Metal but as you mentioned, you need to draw the cards since the skill doesn't search your entire combo line for you. Makes winning a lot more satisfying than just making the same 9k fusion monster every game via your skill.

Update: I just beat DDM. Sometimes, when I rolled dice for 5 turns at a time and didn't get the crests I needed for the game state to advance, I wondered if I had the strength to remain awake until the end. But I finally did it. Up until now, most of the games in this collection have had some redeeming qualities despite some baffling design choices. But the best I can say about this one is that at least it's not Destiny Board Traveler. Probably still better than Duel Links, to be fair. That's 9 down and 6 more to go.
