I played through world base when it came out and then only came back once all the updates and expansions were already done.
And I think I'll do the same thing for wilds.
I understand that wilds has fewer monsters and more performance issues than world at the start but those don't seem to be huge issues to me.

Hunts feel more normal against these monsters, so I feel like that's a good sign for now. But I'm not a fan of offsets either. Most of my playtime's on SnS since that weapon's free from both offsets and the taint of focus mode. Offsets sound like a nice mechanic for a solo game, while focus mode was just an entirely unfortunate addition.

I mean I played and I am decently happy.
Usually I played Wilds for 1-2 hours a day then quit, so far I've been able to commit pretty easily to 4 hours now, sometimes 6.

It helps the new gear is actually hard to make, looks nice, fun to use and the new monsters are decent challenge as well, especially their 8 star versions. I expect TU3 to put the game to where it needs to be too, but I definitely think Capcom needs to stop with annual releases. I'd be fine waiting another 2 years instead of 1 for the MR expansion just so they can keep adding and fixing shit.

I think TU2 really was their last time (before the expansion) where they could have turned the public perception of the game back to positive, and with what we got I think it missed the mark. They really should have crunched harder on this one, because the word of mouth still is that Wilds is not worth the price, and I feel it's slowly creeping towards a point where people that haven't already bought it will have heard so much bad about it that they won't even trust someone telling them they fixed everything and it's worth it now, even if they do do that and the game will just fade into irrelevance.

The game sold 10 million copies and outside of the cattle's vocal complaints about performance, reception to TU2 has been positive. Just leave this site and check reception elsewhere, you'll find it really isn't doom and gloom. I have a Xitter to folllow artists, it's been almost universally positive aside from complaints of Lagia being repetitive (spawning in the same location, same underwater encounter each hunt) and Steve's audio design.

The people still complaining about performance are the indians who only have a shitty notebook that is barely capable of running PPSSPP for them to get their ragebait screenshots of FU from. I get full locked 60 with most settings at their max since TU2 and the game looks sharp and I love the colors. And even before TU I had like a 2fps drop in the middle of the grass during midday plains with 4 players. And a 2060 is below the standard, steam says most PC gamers have a 3060 now. After the updates to make the upscalers look super sharp and finally understanding how SDR works, I unironically like how Wilds looks better than World now. Yes, it sold over 10 million copies in the first month, 8 of which were sold in the first 3 days. That's on average 2.7M copies a day on the opening weekend, after which it needed 28ish days to sell another 2M, which is around 70k a day. That is an insane drop, and the reason we haven't seen a further update is probably because the sales dropped even further down, probably in 4 digits a day, because at that point the performance issues and lack of content have been known all across the gaming sphere.
Now for a regular complete game, it's completely normal for the sales to dry up after a strong initial spike, but Wilds is trying to be a live service game with semi frequent updates they need to keep pumping money into, so having a graph flatline this fast in it's lifecycle is really fucking bad, and they have not done enough to stem the bleed of players with more content and frequent performance patches, letting the game get an insanely bad rep which discourages new customers

one area wilds fucked up was in choosing to entirely redo animations for basic player actions like running/attacks and models for armor/weapons and monsters that already appeared in world (eg. wyvern jawblade, rathian, rathalos, etc). There's minimal visual differences despite the massive polygon increases, which underlines to me that the time spent modeling all these assets out from scratch would have been better served just importing the models from world and maybe touching up the textures slightly while they could work on other stuff. MH7 would be better off simply taking the majority of Wilds' current roster and tech as a baseline than it would trying to reinvent the wheel again for next to no returns.

I just don't really see why it's an issue. It's end game, it doesn't need to be as carefully paced and balanced. Did Wilds release too early and should Wilds have had monsters like Mizu, Lagi and Steve at launch? Sure but it's not like those facts prevent me from enjoying myself.
