Idk what the consensus on the Calvard arc is but i'm half way through Kai right now and this arc just feels so completely uninspired. I just don't know how to put it any other way. Each game just feels likes it own seperate thing instead of building off of eachother and theres just absolutely no real themes to latch onto. The characters basically just exist to be joke dispensers instead of actual characters and the worldbuilding of Calvard is just so empty. Different arcs have different approaches. People were saying the same thing about how cold steel derailed from style of writing from sky and crossbell. Only Kai 2 will tell us how this arc is. But I agree that arkride solutions is more comical dialogue rather than conflict or development but they are developing throughout these games. It’s just taking a while because we are waiting 2 years for Kai and then another 2 years for horizon. And falcom decided not to do the new cast thing they did for cold steel 3. So it might feel slow on the arkride solution development side of things. I promise you Kai is better thank Kuro 2 and is focused on the story of zemuria.

Kai is barely any better than Kuro 2, and Van's part of the routes still feels soulless and pointless. It just feels like 'Oh, Van is the protagonist of this arc, so we have to add some things here.'
