If they do actually realize and accept the amateur stuff SNK puts out, they'll say "Okay yeah BUT THE GAMEPLAY DOE!?", which I feel is biggest cope. The gameplay in Fighting Games is like the 4th/5th most important thing for them in modern day. If you don't have everything is down and/or at least not-terrible, it won't matter how good and fun the gameplay supposedly is, which can be subjective anyway. And seeing how SNK has been doing since 2016, apparently SNK's gameplay isn't all that good enough to attract many people.

Genuinely would've bought the game if it were treated like a proper revival and not a platform to promote Ganacci and Ronaldo. Sucks dev effort was wasted but the game deserved to fail, and you can blame the Saudi royals for it.
COTW was a disaster waiting to happen. A sequel to a game that sold so poorly you can't even find sales data on it, 25 years later, in a genre that's almost as oversaturated as it was in the 90s.
People like to blame the marketing campaign, but think about why they decided to put one of the most famous people in the world in the game. Perhaps they realized at some point in development that this game didn't actually have much of an audience, and in order for it to get finished, they had to resort to insane marketing tactics?
Then you have the rabid fans, who resort to this weird guilt tripping shtick. Trying to say things like if you want a FG with defensive mechanics, COTW is the one for you. Except that the defensive mechanic that defined the last game, Just Defend, isn't even as good as it used to be! It doesn't reduce blockstun anymore! Now the game wants you to use pushblock in tandem with a version of Just Defend that amounts to "do this before you wanna Guard Cancel" instead of a mechanic that facilitates an actual back and forth between players. This is not SNK sticking to their guns, it's anything but! They started from the template of a modern fighting game and worked their way back towards something that kinda sorta resembles the last game. Now, granted, given how poorly the last game performed, they could be forgiven for not pandering to that built in audience. At the same time though, it's just so disingenuous to try to make COTW out to be anything but SF6 with extra steps.
SNK, sadly, deserves to fail. Because they have not innovated in 20+ years, they are late to every technical standard, and they chase nostalgia for games that most people barely, if they ever, actually played.

In MotW, for all moves, blockstun and hitstun was the same. Only JD changed frame data by reducing blockstun.
In CotW, there already less blockstun than hitstun for all moves.
There is no need for JD to reduce blockstun when the game automatically does that for you when you merely block.
