You can do that or just lose at 600 too if you want for less chance but faster run. Winning the URA finals also has a chance of giving a URA spark which also increases speed too I think. You don't NEED to win and can lose but at the point losing with a 1100 speed bakushin is harder than it sounds unless you purposely fail at training.
