I don't like saying 'am I the only who...' because obviously no but just for lack of a better phrase, am I the only who has no problem facing the ghoul at all? out in the open he gets a free hit, granted, he's a top tier killer and so do the other top tier killers. unlike with nurse or blight though, who just want to hit you directly, ghoul may be trying to land behind you or may be trying to cut you off, and you can actually react to a leap that goes ahead of you by doubling back and making distance. but more importantly than of that, once you are in a loop, ghoul is easy to spend a long time in chase with. it's really as simple as just greeding every pallet because they will always ready their tentacle as you approach the first 2 times and lose distance, very much like looping nemmy who will always get his tentacle ready as you approach the pallet the first few times.

This is like a glass cannon build, it also relies on you being great at the 4+ stack skil checks of hyperfocus to get real use out of it. I would at least replace No Mither with Stake Out and just make use of Resilience when you happen to be injured, but realistically I would just use Hyperfocus and Stake out and then Sprint Burst (or whatever you favor) and and Bond or Kindred or Empathy or whatever information perk you favor. I've said it before in this general but people go overboard on gen builds and die as a result if they get chased, when honestly Stake Out and Hyperfocus are all you need and make a noticeable difference.

Any advice for countering teams with 3-4 toolboxes? Asking for anything that'd help like perks, changes in playstyle, etc

2nd week of playing DBD. Sounds pseud as fuck but I'm certain I have much better game knowledge than most new players because I consumed a lot of DBD content before buying the game. Not sure how much it matters but I get the highest score pretty consistently. I usually also pull more than my "share" of work.

I read new players' MMR isn't settled yet and also people say the matchmaking sucks anyway but I have no idea how I'm supposed to climb to a higher MMR bracket when I get other new players in lobby with me who simply exist to be farmed. There's no other way to describe it. Someone who didn't read abilities before playing might get hit by Legion for the first time, neglect mending, and then go down. I think a big problem with this game is a good(or merely decent) survivor player can't carry that hard but a dogshit survivor player can torpedo the entire match. I'm not good at looping or anything yet but I think I'm a *decent* player with alright game knowledge. I don't fail skillchecks, I do gens, I know to try for gens in the middle of the map if possible to avoid easy 3-gens, etc. But I can't win any games because every single match the killer is racking up 4K's. With Bond and Kindred and the teammate activity icon I'm seeing people spend entire minutes doing nothing but walk around. Non-AFK players with 6000 points at the endgame scoreboard.

Is it just a bad time to be a new player? Should I get my friends to buy the game just so I can build up my MMR to a bracket where people aren't brain damaged?

DBD is actually two separate games depending on if you play vs a premade team or solo survivors.
I don't play killer usually but in the past week I've been buying all the cheap killers that cost 2.5k iri shards or less and then doing their adepts, and I've oneshot the majority of them, with some taking 2 attempts
The fact that I can 4k on a first time killer with shitty perks, despite not being a killer main, just shows how absolutely awful the average level of survivors is
I never really have close games, I either get matched into a SWF and they get a 3/4 out, or I get matched into solo's and I 4k them like they're fucking children
Solo is extremely inbalanced because you by default have 0 information about what's happening to any other survivor. Back in he day you didn't even know if someone was in chase or doing a gen. But premades make you feel absolutely helpless as if you're the child being beat up

Here's something I learned as a bond player on a Dwight main;if the game seems hopeless, use your bond to aim the killer right where your teammates are and use them as bait as you get ready for hatch/endgame. I don't think that's entirely true or that bhvr is being completely honest with it, especially given how they're reworking the mmr system to include how helpful you were being in the entire game. But what you can do is wait by the exit gates and power them on. You'll get way better at the game doing that as good killers close hatch in like 5 seconds after it spawns. You'll learn how to hide, loop, and escape relatively quick. Or else you get humiliated.

you don't get legitimate apes (mostly) and new players and most players will be aware of how a killer's power works and that they should do gens
but due to how this game scores player performance (read: essentially not at all) and matchmakes you still get a pretty broad spectrum of players
but yeah it is legitimately difficult to raise your MMR playing solo in new player hell MMR. the best you can do is play aggressively and try to take chase to give your team space to be retarded, and then hope they don't leave you to die when you eventually get caught

also due to matchmaking and the current role-preference imbalance (way too many killers per survivor) you're going to have killers who are too high MMR for the lobby the matchmaker has begrudgingly assigned them to. you aren't penalized as hard in terms of MMR loss for losing these but they are much harder than they should be

That's too skill based, what you're gonna do is bring Built To Last, Streetwise, and a Commodious with wire spool and swivel sockets. The other two perks are free I usually do Resi + DH/Lithe for general survivablity. It gets pretty nutty when you double up on a gen with that toolbox since working with another survivor makes your charges decrease slower. It's the item efficiency stuff from way back in the games history they just forgot about and removed mentions of it from the items. Still in the game though.
