I'll be honest, I've played this game since 2010 and virtually no one complained about league dying until probably around ~2017. Gook fatigue started to set in for esports, dynamic queue was a universal flop, and around this time is when new types of games started to come out that began to challenge the hold that league had on the online multiplayer realm. There were top league players like Dopa saying that he wanted to finish up grinding rank 1 already so he could go back to playing Pubg instead.

I really think the fourfold riot decisionmaking of "tank meta" into "juggernaut worlds 2015" into "dynamic queue" into "ardent censer meta" really fucked the game up and started showing riot wasn't as godly and competent as they seemed. Of course other flops happened before then but none were nearly as damning until that point.

I'm probably looking at this with rose tinted glasses but I really think the game was not near as badly balanced as people claimed it to be. My personal opinion on the balancing nowadays is that everything is so fine tuned that even an extra 2 ad or an extra 10 damage per rank is so over the top that the gap becomes crazy, and it adds to this feel that a player can only pick 2-3 champions in their role while the other 60+ are so far behind because theyre not as slightly overtuned as the top ones. By having a wider range of balance, makes the game more balanced, oddly enough as it sounds.

The game maybe active and popular somewhat but it is a husk of what it used to be, they've also adopted further suspicious things in the background like literal bot accounts "playing" this game to keep the active playerbase numbers up, nothingburger vanguard that still needs kernel level access or allowing betting for esports now. Yes that is true however the game is not authentically fun anymore, everything has to be streamlined for optimal outcome, you cannot play anything out of the box like teemo or shaco support, infact you may even be reported now as "disruptive gameplay" and get punished for it.
Sure you can still go ahead and play the game but you will objectively put people at a burden, you maybe the type of person to not care about anyone else and only about whats fun for you and only you but because the games are so team reliant now you will infact very likely underperform too had you played the the correct champ, item, rune, role.
Noone will spam laugh or dance with you, they came to play a game to win because winning is fun because that means they did not waste their time having to reroll another game to win and get actual progression rewards and such that they are trying to achieve passively or not.
This is a very basic concept of understanding that this game is not as organically as fun as it used to be, people even break relations over this game for not psychically mindreading what their duo wants or for losing a game with them even if it's not their fault due to the games terrible matchmaking system, occasional smurfs, inting/autofilled jungler and so on.
You even talk about how you get more dopamine from winning from a doomed game, winning > fun, as always and has been for a good few years now.

Am I misreading this or the argument was about difficulty. Lux is probably easier to play in lower elo but doesnt discredit it being effective in higher elo (pantheon is similar for example). Lux is definitely easier than orianna however as soon as spacing becomes a factor, and lux PROBABLY is more volatile as well so people prioritize the less volatile character (orianna). Pickrate, banrate, winrate all aren't really considerations for difficulty. Riven has a positive winrate nowadays in pisslow mmr but that champion is hard to play.

I have no clue about midlaners cause I don't play them but orianna definitely flexes fundamentals alot fucking more than lux.
