Turtle CC2 is actually really fun and engaging if you disregard the mess they made with PvP. One obvious example I can think of right away is what they did with holy paladin in both servers.
Turtle gave them healing from armour, seperating their loot pool from clothie healers like priest and druid. Turtle also gave them more chance to crit on holy shock and resetting its own cooldown, making their healing playstyle revolve around instant casts or quick spells, distinct from druid or shaman for example. They also gave them melee healing as a form of AoE healing which is quite fun to use when you holy strike the boss, holy shock someone while jumping around. You can judge a boss to reduce the cast time of your bigger healing, giving you a very versatile and unique toolkit that rewards you if you learn positioning like a melee DPS player.
Epoch gives them faster casting speed as their capstone and makes their overheal spread to allies, which just promotes and rewards braindead flash of light spam. They also get bonus healing from intellect, which does nothing to help seperate their gear from other healers, you'll see paladins rolling on cloth gear and healing offhands whereas in Turtle paladins want shields. It's just poorly thought out in general and promotes the most boring playstyle for paladin possible.

Go look at top logs from Kara40, the top paladin is doing 55% of his healing from melee healing, you wouldn't know this of course because you're a shitter stuck in MC and 2004 mindset. Healing from armour is a nice thing to have and not mandatory. Look at this normally utterly useless shield from ZG for example, with Turtle changes suddenly it's good for holy paladin and you don't have to get the offhand from Arlokk. 2300 armour gives 46 healing. It gives you more options to gear up.
You're saying vanilla healing should be braindead easy, and thankfully it still is. Most guilds will take everyone to their rooster and you can heal ok-ish with FoL spam. Turtle holy paladin gives you ability to reach next level healing if you are willing to spend effort on it while not removing the classic FoL spam, it's just not the most effective way anymore. I don't understand why you complain about having more options and more flavors to play.

Of course, certain balance adjustments would probably need to be made.
Turtle and Epoch would be good candidates for making such a realm, since they have custom additional stuff to fill in the gaps of actual non-raid Vanilla.
If some other project would do it, they would need to make some of their own custom changes of course for optimal experience.

It's not, it (plus Fade) is what makes Priests the single best dungeon healers of vanilla.

Holy especially, once you pick up Holy Nova you can snipe any low level mob with your AoE and guaranteed never go OOM. It's the single strongest mana regen talent in the entire game if utilized properly.

When leveling a priest you only really need two talents which are Wand Spec and Spirit Tap, the rest doesn't even matter that much.

The point is not necessarily the looks. Turtle is including a "legacy mode" in the ue5 build, where the game will look like it did before.
The main reason why they are doing this is because it allows them to be more in control of the development process, and it removes all limitations imposed by the blizzard game clients.
Ue5 will also run much better than the current game on modern PCs.

As far as the looks do go, some will like the "modern mode", others won't.
I think it has potential to be honest.
It is not some massive redesign of the world's aesthetics. More modern versions of WoW also include some graphic adjustments, and it does look better than stock 1.12 game client.

Over all, I am happy that the private server community is getting some new and interesting stuff.
I am not just a Turtle player, I have been enjoying private servers for more than a decade.
Even when I was playing retail, I still dabbled in private servers just for fun.
Even if Turtle ue5 is just an experiment, and it doesn't turn out good, I believe it will still be good for private servers in general.
