Like the other anon said, the game becomes pretty easy once you know how everything works, and chapter 1 is the hardest chapter of the game, that's why Iron Maiden 2 causes so much trouble.

Are you playing it untranslated? The english patch added faster skip, but even the original allowed you to speed up with ctrl. It also affects animations in battle. It's more than most RPGmaker games.

Outside boss battles they're the hardest part in the game until the DLC. The items you can get there are useful, but if it's really that hard it's best to ignore them, you can beat the game fine without the orange scarf.

Fun fact, you don't actually need to dance for the Mercy ending. As long as you get enough ratings before the second break, Nina will come to My Room.
I would recommend you to try a neutral route first to get used to the game and then try Mercy with more experience. Genocide gets aborted automatically after the first chapter if you never beat the game before.
Also, you can unlock extra weapons in Hyakki's shop by beating the game to make next playthroughs easier.

No, seriously, I know the dark clothes symbolize she isn't that good, but surely this game has vampires. Even if this was in the time of release when future was uncertain they should have the foresight to implement vampires later. You do kill enemies. While demons are usually sent back to hell, Yuuma explains in 1-2 how when he killed a demon in a fit of anger and he absorbed the demon into his soul, killing the demon.Then in 4-2 outside genocide Reina reveals Kazuya and Yuuma's angelic magic inside them is tainted when you absorb demons. Some of the demons in genocide mention they're getting absorbed, such as Iron Maiden saying she'll accompany Kazuya on his journey.
Kazuya is always emotional during battles, so he absorbs demons he kills. Genocide is meant to be tempting Kazuya and in extension the player, the bosses test his principles and make his anger justified, even if he acts unhinged. A few moments in Mercy has Kazuya almost get murderous on his own and he kills Daji unless you have never killed a single demon, and still needs to be convinced by the fox. When Kazuya betrays his principles, he gets corrupted in exchange for power, it doesn't matter if the demon deserves it or not.
There is no real big message for the player because the story works only specifically for Kazuya due to the lovecraftian abomination living inside him.

Unless you threaten his friends, Kazuya is the biggest softie, so him going on a killing spree, no matter how justified, is out of character and his friends notices it. Remember Yuuma was his childhood friend and knows him very well, and Genocide reveals he knew there was something unnatural about him. Also, you're getting it wrong, Kazuya is pacifist in canon but the game canonically ended with Iron Maiden because without the player's help he is too weak to defeat her. The chart is just time-travel meta autism about how the timeline was altered over and over by both sides.

NTA, but if I remember correctly, the demons are independent of Kazuya and just decided to live inside his inner space because they like him, so they can leave whenever they please. The exceptions are Mormo who can only exist thanks to Kazuya and the three bosses sent against Kazuya by MOW, because MOW makes their bodies melt when they no longer serve their purpose. They can exist outside of Kazuya but they remain bound to him.
The others are fully independent, in Arachne's epilogue she goes hiding for months not to draw attention on Kazuya.
Kazuya has no control over the girls, but most of them stop being evil, either happy they don't have to follow orders anymore or redeemed from their old ways.
The two that stay evil are Daji and Arachne, though Daji reaches a compromise with Kazuya and is more interested in him than eating people.

I think you're overestimating how Meia is treated. They dislike her for being a husband-stealing shotacon who wants them to never grow up, but nobody expresses anything but discomfort for her. Similarly, there are no-name monsters that are targeting or mention shotas and they're not treated as any worse than everyone else. Places like Succubus Village have 'civilized' succubi having their way with them. Monsters don't seem to think attacking shotas is bad/wrong, outside of monsters who oppose non-consensual in general, and then they don't have issues with a consenting shota. I lost the image a long time ago but I remember there used to be a compilation some anon made (I think originally created after others tried to use hair color to tie him to his kids) of all the different ways artists had drawn Luka and beyond the extremely variety in how his body and proportions were drawn, his hair color and facial features also changed a lot between them and one of them even made his hair brown.

Given how costumes seem to be handled, I this is because Charis has a completely different class that this gave her instead of it just being a reskin for her, so any girl who has a version with an alternate class and/or weapon can be used alongside their original selves. Charis actually became the very first earth air raider, so there's currently no other girl who has that role. But also I just think using them both together is very nice. It's like she's summoning her future self to help her out. No one else in the town is married to a shota, and combined with how they respond to her it gives the impression that the Mayor and the others in the Port didn't know until after Meia had already forcibly de-aged her husband and halted his growth. Considering the Monsterpedia also claims that Meia is quite powerful even compared to other Mermaids around her, and this is backed up in Paradox, it's highly doubtful that they can do anything about it.
It's also worth remembering that contrary to what you said, Luka's initial reaction to meeting Meia's "husband" is believing that he's their child. When he's informed that's actually her husband he's completely shocked, and him learning right afterwards that it's because of her forcibly de-aging him and perpetually keeping him locked into the mental state of a child only makes it even worse and leads to his negative disposition. Her cheating on him doesn't help, either.
Nor does how Meia learning a pair of Mermaids came over to check up on her husband and make sure he was ok cause her to ask for their names with the implication that she's going to beat the hell out of them, which means she's both really hypocritical about it and extremely possessive of him.

In my experience it depends a lot on the genre of the source material. Suzu is pretty decent in wind or low rarity challenges.
Rin is completely outclassed by legendary healers, but her anniversary version is one of the best in the game since it has an aoe true damage dot skill along with aoe healing.
Kuromi is pretty bad. She has a bonus against male enemies but normal monsters don't count for that. So she's mostly just good at killing weak mobs you'll normally have no issues with.
If she counts the orc girl can make an okay tank for a low rarity because she'll summon an orc for herself but that's it she's just a wall.

Overall unless you're using the anniversary alts it makes sense you phase them out for MGQ ones. Even Rami or Lime is better than most of them most of the time.

If you mean any girl who happens to be lower rarity that's easier to start out with it really depends. Charis aside (her hitting for three times the damage of Ateru at points is pretty based ngl), Perili and Shiijime are very good, the Lamia girl seems to be pretty strong as well from what I've read though I haven't used her myself, I know there are others as well but some of the girls are definitely quite good.
If by starter you mean specifically the group of Seven that the game hands out to you at the start, then the only one I've used extensively is Selen because I liked her, and she's definitely fine, but she can take some getting used to at first.
I also used Suzu, until I amassed the flock of Harpies and she fell out of use, but Suzu seems to not just be the strongest of the seven but genuinely quite good on her own.
As for the other five, Podel and Saura are both good at their roles (the former is very durable, the latter has a free auto-revive on a dedicated stole wall), Nel is mediocre outside of her immobilization ability on deploy, Rin is very quickly outclassed, and even if I didn't have a dislike for Kuromi I'd still never use her because she's absolutely awful.

I think it should count unless it's some f2p/low rarity challenge. It's a 3 year old game so the main girls will get anniversary alts to be useful for those that want them in harder challenges where you probably shouldn't be using normal Rin as the healer. Also you should save for limited banners. Collabs, Anniversary, and Youkai banners are what you should summon on.

I think it's more accurate to say that Suzu has a different role than either of them, because she's got a weapon and focus than Rami or Lime. Lime is durable supportive fire that slows down enemies, Rami has extreme AOE burst fire damage that can melt through crowds with her triple fireballs from the skill, and Suzu is good at focus fire single target DPS. They don't really compete with each other, it's just what you need for that spot. Were Suzu to compete with one of the MGQ girls it'd probably be Alice, because focus fire single-target-damage is also her specialty. There's a few things she has over Alice (range, flight and crit rate from the weapon if you get it for her), but Alice in most situations will still be better than her unless the enemies are particularly resistant to magical attacks or you happen to get lucky with that +30% crit rate. Suzu also requires you to move her before her skill ends if you want to block the stun, which can be a bit unintuitive sometimes.
But yes compared to the main stars of the collaboration Rami and Lime aren't as good as Lucretia or Witch, which I think is perfectly understandable, I was just saying that in general they're both still really good.

Despite the two different types of mages they're both technically AoE. She just has good attack and the AoE version instead of attacking three characters. Alice is just that good that for a Mage she's considered a single target DPS which is the opposite thing for Lime

Also I forgot Kitsu exists but since she's a paid character that isn't overpowered so you'll never see her unless you pay up whenever is the next collab

Basically in Paradox your 'average' human is only going to be able to handle Gold Region at best. This is stronger than most monsters are sure, it's impressive, but it's not monster high tier. Your 'typical' hero can get to Hellgondo and survive, whether they can handle some monsters or not or just run depends, but they can get there. It's why Remina collects retired heroes and has a massive storehouse of hero's weapons, they get there, run around a bit, and realize they're outclassed or just barely in class and have no hope against the Monster Lord. I don't really know anything about Megumin so I didn't know if she was actually considered one or not. That being said, actually seeing her next to other people in the animation, she looks younger there than in the picture I found. Her cape also looks a lot bigger on her too. So seeing her there she does honestly look like the age that she was changed to. I guess I should've just watched a bit from it or something prior, and it wouldn't have been a question.

Managed to get a first clear, 3-star and do the challenge at the same time with Charis's all-earth team. Felt awesome to watch her take down all the mobs, behead the Dullahan, then snipe the body from behind the Talos Herd before finally picking them off one by one.

To be honest I think the actual cause is their origin being retconned from Monsters to "Banshees that became Monster-adjacent" in a manner similar to Elves (which iirc were originally split off from succubi but now came from the six-armed-loser who jobs to Edgedragon). Which they also note when they mention Mermaids in that explanation. They might not have originally been able to, but it's hard to say.

That being said it's important to remember that the distinction with Harpies is specifically that every and any Harpy is capable of having a boy or girl if they want to, whereas normally, a monster can only have daughters unless she's an 'exceptionally powerful' one. So the average Kitsune couldn't have a son, but a stronger one could if they wanted to. I don't know enough about Kitsune culture to be able to say if they would, though.
