World is bad enough with things like missables, actually giving it multiple routes and locking shit to specific playthroughs sounds fucking nightmarish and tedious. Part of the joy of World was fully completing it and getting everything with nothing locked out, I feel like routes would be extremely antithetical for a World game.
Would definitely dig Survive's setting being ported into a World game though. It did a good job of making you feel lost and alone in a world filled with hostile Digimon. Recruiting friendly Digimon would feel a lot more meaningful in a lonely unfriendly world like that. Having other humans in the world would feel less cheap/lame too if you're actually relying on them for things even if it's just the shit like trade, guarding the village, or services/farming; it'd feel more like they have an actual place in the setting rather than simply being lame jobbers that basically do nothing but make a fool out of themselves while you're the hero that does everything despite your Digimon having a ridiculously shorter lifespan than theirs (were the losers in Next Order wasting all their time looking for chain melons???).
