The problem is he wouldn't easily accept it. KG was for the sake of his sister, not himself. Mystery really could have been Ima's route, with him actually bonding with Takumi and the others but it wasn't focused on the characters.
There are a lot of parallels between Ima and Gaku so I think they'd end up friends (although neither would call each other that). Ima bantering with Gaku is kind of already a sign he mildly enjoys his company, even if just to shit on him.

Yeah, that isn't to say I think S.F's ending was the best or I have no problems with it, but after seeing almost every other route in the game, it was a nice "final" ending for me. Mystery's ending 100 and the S.F ending that tied into that was also good. Uchikoshi's writing is so drastically different to Kodaka's that it really just comes down to personal opinion

SF's cumulation isn't the actual endings, it's the payoff to the bits of lore dropped throughout every single other route. The shit with the bugs, the timeloop, how woven both are into the local culture; it's no wonder this is the storylock route.

My half-awake pondering is that a futuran/commander route goes like. In one ending of a new DLC route, Takumi meets the old woman from SF, and she gives him the ability to actually go back in time with the PLM. All he ends up accomplishing is giving a Day 2 version of himself access to the babyjar, unlocking the route where Takumi spares Murvum and bails with Shion early on. Why does this matter? Because the structure of the game is defensive battles, or put another way, defending Shion (the thing in the Defence Room) from invaders (futurans). Only now it's Takumi and the commanders defending Shion (babyjar) from invaders (brainwashed SDU and human enemies). You can even have Takumi slowly persuading commanders to join as he did with the SDU on route 0. This preserves the game's general structure while going in a completely different direction.
