Shame I'm shit at actually playing it

Waited a couple days but I just can't seem to play.
I get SEVERE freezing issues, seemingly at random. Sometimes I'll play 3 games fine, other times I get into the menu then the game hangs, freezes, won't close until I manually kill the process, and when I do it also nukes steam, discord calls, my browser, and other shit.
Literally NEVER had anything even remotely close to this, I'm seeing other people have the hanging issues but the way it's affecting other shit on my PC is kinda scary, can't lie to you. Uninstalling for now, it's fun but I haven't completed a game in 6h, and it's just gonna end up getting me banned for "leaving" so why bother
just sad I waited months for this and it's somehow worse in nearly every way.

Panther is kind of a "win more" class. If your team is already getting shafted, he's near useless. If you're already doing well, he dominates because he can line up surprise attacks on everyone.

Panther is good at killing support mechs instantly. It is also extremely survivable and about as tanky as a tricera if you rotate your cooldowns effectively (yes it has the same ehp as tricera with shields).

Basically it is an armored knight with a lance, and you do the most work when you can charge people with your lance.

Shield up, tank the hits, kill your squishy target, get out. Drill was also buffed to have much better tracking and startup time, so you can 'confirm' it much more easily.

Panther has very good attack boost speed and range so that makes it quite good for punishing aquila or any airborne floating mechs. You can catch falcon and skyraider easily and get a drill into them before they get away.

BTW I'm not saying panther is good. It's a 1 trick melee bot in a game with other melee bots that have much more versatile or equally as effective melee. Stella's straight up outclasses it as an ambush mech, and comes with a free automatic hit drill-like cooldown.

The draw of panther is its cooldowns and shielding, letting you absorb a truly ridiculous amount of damage if you manage your facing and energy.

Charge a shot at the very start of the challenge and send it Welkin's way so he activates his forward shield long before he reaches you. Back up, count to eleven for the shield to shut down on its own and go in. Then you got twenty four seconds to tear him down.
The combination of fully charged blaster shots, turret drones and the Emitter can cut through his armor and take off about a third of his health in just a few seconds (and once he's down to 2/3 of his HP, magdump six uncharged Emitter shots), give or take depending on how lucky you get with Welkin targeting your Decoy shields as you back up and keep one between you and him at all times. If he decides to do his fucking Akuma Shun Goku Satsu simultaneous boost-zap-box-spin, you may as well start over.

I was a big stego enjoyer in the beta, didn't play it a ton but enough to get a good feel for it and had a blast using it in higher ranked matches.

This version of stego the frontal shield does nothing against melee, you cannot bounce them away from you reliably anymore. You're also much squishier than before so all melee know they can just wail on you before you can kill them, which brings me to the other issue:

The damage was also nerfed quite significantly, and you cannot threaten somebody on your ass anymore. It's purely a turret mech that needs to duo with a tricera or maybe a hurricane, because at the moment its worthless alone on a flank. Total free kill. Which is a shame.

Tried to give it a HiNu look. Came out alright.

It's surprisingly not P2W, yes. There's a tiny bit of pay for convenience for the extraction mode, but that kind of defeat the point, I like extraction when I beat all odds and get free stuff, if you start paying for this you're a loser.
Also you can pay to skip the grind to get the 3 mechs but it doesn't take that long to unlock stuff (it still takes a while) but there's a free trial for them anyway.

If you love mecha there's no reason not to at least try and see if you like it or not.

BTW any active monarch rally on EU? I want my psy op eye insignia really bad.

Alysnes definitely beats Welkins in 1v1s, but I find that the Welkin just...doesn't 1v1 you anymore after you beat him cleanly once. You don't have the damage output to force the issue, and you're not a high priority target so the Welkin is better off avoiding you or getting help.
