It's Demo Day 63, and you'd like to get something back from all your hard effort.
I will make a generous donation to your demo if you add a screen at the beginning that says "I'm a farty fart man with a big smelly butt that smells like farts". It must be unskippable and stay present and visible for at least 5 seconds.
Note that for any qualifying games I'll be waiting a week to make sure you don't just immediately replace it.
I don't want to list an exact amount, because a game where it really doesn't fit in, or going "the extra mile" (fart noises in your soundtrack, especially in a serious game, things like that) will be rewarded more heavily.

It's got better visuals, better controls, 3 new levels, and new enemies including bosses.
I'm starting to see that the inventory system and maybe the boat are not really adding anything and I should probably rework or cut them, I'd like to know what you guys think.

I put my "lost cause" "game" Hypercoven on demo day
release is gonna be next month, so maybe itโs the final DD or maybe I keep submitting with minor changes like new units (as if anyone even knew the existing 50)
It seems there is almost zero audience for this game, the way I am building it; which I donโt mind so much, since it still has been fun. But it means there is sadly no chance to find funding for fixing the graphics and also I am starting to doubt whether it would be worth it for me to fund any improvement myself. my pc is 10 years old but it ran alright I think.
A couple of moments of confusion:
the map tutorial, I thought it meant drag to move the node(which would be weird), so I was trying to drag it initially. could be because of how minimal the UI is currently that I didn't intuit it correctly at first glance.
I also didn't realize it was saying press 'm'. the font looked like III to my eyes.
loved the art of the bosses, and their arenas. I loved accidentally hitting the lady and the result of that.
my hand was cramping a bit, could be my posture.
I sucked at remembering what combos to do mid combat, and my fingers are wanting to wasd a lot during attack strings which didn't help. but could be a practice thing.
well done on the demo! I might have another go at the 2nd boss later, I gotta trigger that finisher animation myself...

Stairs were my nemesis. Kinda thin, but I felt like I need momentum to climb them.
Also the ability to rotate the camera only 90 degrees at the time, no in-betweens, just makes it a little more confusing then helpful.

Just finished the Marras demo. Some thoughts on it.
What I liked
>Fun soundtrack
>Cool artstyle especially the urban camo ships
>Movement feels good
>Feels decently satisfying to play in terms of "spectacle" but the crystal pickups look somewhat out of place with the more gritty and realistic setting (at least of the urban area)
What I didn't like
>It was difficult to get a good feel for my ship's position and hitbox in particular when I only observed it from the corner of my eye. It feels somewhat "recessed" for a lack of a better term and blends easily with the background. The movement on the ship's adds confounds the issue subjectively speaking
>Levels feel too short and the loading zones don't really make sense to me. They break the flow massively. Used to hide the loading times currently? It would be nice to flow smoothly between the areas
>Lacking variety in the bullet patters right now. I believe they were mostly of the spread archetype with some exceptions
Other observations
>Area 15 and Area 17 felt like huge difficulty spikes. Area 17 in particular took me a long time to beat whereas the rest of the game felt easy even for a casual player of the genre
>I'm unsure if lining up the laser with the "eye" icon on the enemy causes additional damage or if I'm just imagining things. I only started thinking about it when Area 17 was kicking my ass and I thought about what I was doing wrong

Looking at the games that are trending these days, I'm starting to think people are deeply mentally troubled. Games like Schedule I or Peak, that are co-op, and games like it. Starship Landings guy, I FUCK with your system heavily.
I just like the passion and autism. I've tried building such a system myself but stopped early on because it was just scope creep.

- Mode and difficulty are mixed. "Wanderlust" is a mode and "Hard, Normal, etc" is a difficulty.
- Enemies are repetitive. More variety is needed
- The MP is actually decently balanced, at first I never had any MP, but cyan bottles are good at balance.
- Props, Graphics, etc, miscommunicate. I still don't know what a fake wall looks like, and I thought at first that the heart statues gave you health.
- Keys and Locked Doors right now are kinda lame, just unlocks the exit. Should unlock more exciting and interesting things in my opinion.
- Sometimes doors lock and other times they don't? Actually feels buggy
- You can camp in the doorway, enemy AI doesn't detect you there and it makes it easy.
- The shitty cat that barely does damage shouldn't cost as much MP as the good cards that do proper damage. The MP cost to damage should be balanced I think. The cat should be a backup in case you don't have cards IMO
- The numbers vs indicators are confusing, it says stuff like "8 MP, 10 HP" on the cards, but you look and the health and MP are represented as bars. It doesn't translate well. Maybe one MP should be one bar. Maybe HP should be hearts, or bars aswell.
- Projectile enemies feel broken, they are too unfair. They shoot instantly and shoot directly at you with amazing precision, it feels unfair
- Wtf? The butterfly's projectile wasn't homing before? Why not make it a seperate enemy.
- Enemy movement is unpredictable and sudden
- The maps layout is too predictable, there's not really anything interesting to it.
I played a bunch of times but kept dying.
Then I got to the rabbit boss but died to it. I was playing on Wanderlust the entire time because I thought, if it's a roguelike, I should permanently lose.
Velveteen, I feel like with this game, you have spent too much time adding miscellaneous stuff instead of balancing and polishing the core gameplay.

Vertex snapping is literally just connecting two meshes together via a vertex, which would work perfectly if my meshes were properly rotated
Pic related, I managed to connect these two meshes just fine using a single vertex since both faces were parallel with each other. However, if I rotate a mesh just a little bit, it's now fucking impossible to get the result that I want anymore unless I find the correct one in a billion rotation value. All of my problems would be solved if there was a way to either snap a fucking edge or a face since that would auto rotate them

Yea I eyeballed the a most of the animations mainly in the biped legs, for reverse joint and quad legs I had to get a little creative since all of these animations needed have certain similarities that aren't present in AC (more of a time-saving reason than anything). yeah, I'm working on an open world MMO. I need something that can handle highly realistic, detailed graphics and really push hardware to its limits. Once I get my team together I need something really powerful, so I'm writing my own engine. Godot and Unity are out and Unreal is too limited for what I want to do.

Hair Recieve Bullet is weird. It feels both incredibly polished and rough and beginner at the same time. It's kinda hard, it's not as easy to control to as super mario though. But it does remind me of some game or games I've played before, kinda like arena shooters where the challenge is actually picking up momentum, the noobs move like snails and and the pros move like lightning.

FMOD Studio itself is actually pretty amazing, but where it falls apart is the Unity integration and in the subtle ways it'll slowly destroy your project and drive you mad. In theory, if you were enginedev (or wrote your own implementation from scratch, which is possible) you might be able to work around those problems, or at least you'd only have yourself to blame when something goes wrong.

- Same silly crashes as last time. I'm playing on linux on the WINE layer if that helps.
The game crashed when I gave Kitty a "nearly useless potion" with 0.50 poison effect on it. The console log says "Setting quest state: RatPoisonQuest step: PoisonGiven to: true" if that's helpful. (next time I gave her a differnt nearly useless potion and it worked.)
Another crash happened with the potion of strength and Lod.
Trying to add more than one ingredient to the press crashed the game.
- It does feel overall much better than last time. The book progression system is a helpful guide. Everything feels pretty nice and understandable.
- This is a small quirk but I would randomize where the herbs spawn. I feel like I've memorized where alot of them spawn after a bit of playing.
- Picking ingredients could be less mindless, especially the ones in the wilf. Maybe the ones you grow could be an exception. This is just a suggestion though.
I remember the Morrowind brewing system was pretty decent. It might be good inspiration. Just a suggestion.

In the tutorial actually, there is a purposed challenge to model a plate using knowledge gained thus far. That is a good challenge and is something I will be pursing next time to actually calcify the information I have been picking up thus far. I think more tutorials should propose homework type challenges like that more often as they're really good for retaining real knowledge.
