Basically you open up ability at the start, then instead of opening another ability like you used to, you lvl up that ability to T1 and only then get to open another.

Depends on the ability, you can hover over the ability and press ALT to see the scaling. Some get upgraded when you upgrade the skill from T1 to T3.

you would think the outcome would be a little less one sided after the update, right? spirit is supposed to be stronger and gun weaker, but gun ivy is now a throw pick and all of the gun characters are still ridiculously strong, the infernus nerf hardly being noticeable
draft is literally the only way this game could be playable outside of a 6 stack. not having an actual gun carry on your team means its impossible to even destroy objectives and so you are just forced to lose.

Man I wish there was an alternative to Ricochet with Haze as T4 Gun item. The 20% fire rate is still nice besides the Ricochet itself. Afaik fire rate is superior to weapon damage on Haze so weapon damage T4s are out. Crippling Headshot looks mediocre on paper (esp compared to something like Hunter's Aura). Spiritual Overflow appears to require 100+ bullets to hit enemies before it even triggers the +30% buffs. Glass Cannon makes Haze even squishier. Vampiric Burst makes sense but otherwise it just seems to roll back to Ricochet stuff (Inhibitor, Toxic Bullets, Silencer).

With those you could out sustain in pretty much every fight, the only problem now being inhibitor having a buildup so she might be a bit more susceptible to being bursted when you press 4
