You're looking at this in such a black and white way that just doesn't fit the character or the narrative itself.

It's a simple case of "would Sonic save this person's life?", and you're argument is "you can't save him without compromising on your ideals", as if this kind of situation is one where that would be "at stake" at all. Sonic wouldn't be "Sonic" if he just sat back and let someone kill themselves. We know he can't ignore someone in need, and we know he believes in "freedom" for everyone. Why try and paint these two concepts as antithetical? As if "Freedom" itself is inherently flawed?

Sonic is going to save their life. Not by "imposing his will on them", he'll SAVE their LIFE. He'll remind them of what they're living for, he'll save them from whatever is pushing them to go this far in the first place.

It's as simple as.... Someone steps off the edge of a building, plummets to their demise, only for a sudden rush of wind to whisk them away to a beautiful place far away... Where, they see something that reminds them of something they deeply value in life. Or, maybe, Sonic is still there to chat with them a bit. Sonic's not gonna play therapist or anything, but whatever they have to say about why they went through with that, Sonic will simply give his own thoughts on the matter and advise them to not let all these things weigh them down. He'll give them a reason to keep living, before moving on with his own life. And if they ever find themselves there again, whatever Sonic left them with will be a reminder of that.

throughout the majority of sonic x cosmo barely even acknowledges tails. He also never manages to save her from jackshit, he's completely useless and Sonic/Knuckles always have to save her. That cave episode? Tails cowers from the bad guys and Sonic saves her. The Fortress? Tails sits in the ship and Sonic saves her. The Eggman Knuckles dupe episode? Knuckles saves her. The Dark Sonic episode? Sonic saves her. the onyl time tails ever did anything to look good to cosmo was the shadow episode, which was just shadow making tails look like a weak bitch while Sonic and Knuckles did way more to help her.
The Chaotix even say in the Jap of the wingman episode that she's probably in love with Sonic instead of Tails.
Seriously until the final episode 30 seconds from death she barely pays any attention to Tails, all he ever does is say the generic "Sonic will save us so BUCK UP!" lines to her.

Mimic was too dark of a character to be a recurring villain in a Game-like comic. And I don't mean a comic that's more like the games needs kiddie villains, it's that villains who go over a certain threshold in their villainy either get killed or sealed away in the games without mercy. Mimic was a character who would've been killed in his first appearance if he debuted in a Sonic game.

In hindsight Ian did a lot of scummy shit behind the scenes and a lot of his writing in the comic now just comes across as idiotic and cynical for no reason. They've spent the last 4 issues of this comic apologizing for itself or meandering through nothing. I don't think either Ian or Evan have any interest in writing the comic anymore and just do it for a paycheck. The past few issues have had so little story and content that I find it ridiculous that they're charging nearly 7 dollars an issue.
