You need to actually watch your horse race to know why they failed. Getting boxed in? More wit or relevant skills. Pace chaser at 6-9th place and can't keep up? More power so she accelerates faster. Pace/Late/End Uma can't catch up at the end? More stamina AND power. Front Uma falling off? More stamina. It's not that hard, just watch your umas race.

You have to train the horse in commands and what to do like the gate test and how to approach turns etc. Put it all together and you have race horses. Don't get too attached though because horses don't really have long life spans and you only have 5 years or so to make the most of a race horse. After which if they live, you breed them, and mostly artificially since you don't want the female horse to reject and kick your horse to death. If your horse dies on the track then that's a wrap.
Most importantly, you better have money because horses ain't cheap.

There was some super autism with JP players back when champion meets open league was B or lower to get a horse with just the strongest skills and stat spread (stamina requirement + as much speed as possible with some int) to minmax the competition. Open league being B and lower was actually 100x harder to get wins in than graded's uncapped horse rating. I tried it once, couldn't win a single fucking race. Went back to doing graded and going to group b instead. Sure winning group A in open gives more than group B in graded but it's not whale territory, it's autism territory. And if there's one thing I fear more than whales it's hyper-autists minmaxing.

am I missing something or is the game supposed to be this insanely brutal? I remember when FGO started a lot of the events took most of you attnetinon the weeks they were on to 100%, the reptition was a lot more mindless though and if you had a macro running it was easy, this is almost too complicated to run a macro through cause the only way to get the event points is through career, which is like an entire game start to finish, it takes like 1hr 30 min just to get 10k points for one wheel spin towards the end, like wtf I don't know how this is doable
