The role used to be a guarantee of victory if things went to late game, but now with Riot wanting games lasting "around, and ideally no more than 30 mins) it means that other champions have slowly but surely become stronger while the role itself hasn't evolved. For instance, mages can now multi role and often are better than adcs since they changed runes and got rid of your ability to start with MR, so spells hit a lot harder even after the reworked durability patch.

At the same time, adcs had nowhere else to go, and so things like Vayne top and Lucian mid are symptoms of this where people accepted mages bot lane starting with ziggs but once adcs tried to do the same it was met with backlash.

The entire role needs a rework.

Riot went on a great spree of removing point and click abilities from the game like 10 years ago. There's still some point and click damaging abilities for mages here and there but usually they are part of a spell rotation that has skillshots and on their own are not that powerful. Brand's E, LB's Q, Cass's E, etc, all part of an ability combo that requires a skillshot to make it effective.

I really dislike champions like K'sante or Ambessa or plenty of other cancerfuck top lane bruisers that can press all of their keys and shit out a kill in a clear teamfight loss.
