I play and win havoc 40s on the regular with randoms, and I vaguely enjoy it. The meta is defined by retards who don't know how to play the game properly, as evidenced by all the sub-sentient NPCs putting plasma gun on a pedestal, and non-standard builds tend to perform much better.
Doesn't mean havoc is good. It's wasted potential and chokes the engine with too many enemies because fatshark is too stupid to actually balance a difficult game mode, since nobody at the company is even remotely competent at the game.

Both bolt pistol and boltgun can effectively run deadshot and marksman's focus to I believe even one-tap reapers, at least with the pistol build for headshot crits. Both guns have better ammo efficiency against monstrosities with puncture.

Everyone shits on krak, which just proves they don't actually play havoc 40 with actually difficult modifiers, since they are completely invaluable there. Do people who swear by castigator's stance even on melee builds just not use their combat ability when running break the line?
Don't get me wrong, I think the two upgrade nodes to the left are pretty great, especially with shotgun based builds, but that feels like literally the only reason to ever use the thing. I always feel hamstrung by not being able to just shove my way through fire without committing a really long cooldown, not being able to instantly break bulwarks at will, delete mutants before they get the chance to do anything, save my retards from the crusher sneaking up on them from behind, etc.
I checked my Power DI ability usage statistics (with break the line), and in ~17 minute maelstroms they're consistently above 80. There's definitely some slight bias here if and when I find cooldown stimms to spam it for fun, but even shaving 10 off the top for good measure, that's still a huge number.
I don't think I'd consider using it in havoc either, not when BTL flashbang looping can stunlock an entire crowd without eating into shock mines, and even after they fix nuncio, it provides some pretty substantial offensive buffs when dealing with regenerating hordes of armor.

Despite not outranking people in the Inquisition she's someone that 90% of the militarum/civilian population can't fuck with, and she can kill whoever she wants if they step out of line. I don't think I was even aware that worked. I don't think I've tried it, but I aim my bolter and bolt pistol with crosshairs from mods instead of the sights because of the broken fucking animations, so maybe I have been and just not realizing I was doing it.

You're retarded. That is maybe the worst weapon to bring up here. The revolver registers headshots even if you miss targets' heads because of how forgiving it is. And shooting a special or separated ranged elite while gap closing on a ranged pack isn't a waste of ammo unless you aim worse than the Parky anon from /eftg/, which would be impressive.
You'd be much better off arguing against doing it with a las-pistol because of how low-damage body shots with it are and how many shots you need to hit to kill, making it much harder to operate in narrow, mobile shooting windows and not overspend on ammo by missing/hitting body.

All of the characters in Darktide could easily fit into a 40k novel. They aren't RTS characters they can afford to be more subdued. Because I know exactly what you're comparing the zealot to, and while it would be funny to have that guy in the game, he has two minutes of lines. Having that level of energy for an entire game would be funny but is better religated for the "high" moments generated by pressing the ult button.

It's just that the game seems to lack the religious indoctrination and oppressive aspects of the setting. Everyone chats like they're a merry band and not a ship full of rejects, criminals and penitents.
This worked for Vermintide since the heresy/oppressive aspects aren't as hammered in on Warhammer Fantasy, but not here.

I'll grant this is all personal opinion though. It's not bad to make it a little more comedic, it's just disappointing for me.

The people in 40k are still people, not mindless religious automatons who can recite the imperial bible from memory. The Guardsmen are taught that some of their equipment works through literal machine magic, that chanting certain litanies makes the gun shoot more accurate, other litanies make vehicles work better, and all manner of religious stuff. Yes, I know some of these "rituals" are literally just maintenance protocols, but they also sing hymns and chants and burn incense in some of them.

Since so many of the Imperium's citizens are poorly educated, if at all, they believe that shit. But none of that is shown in the game. Not to mention all the blasphemy some of them spout which would usually have them killed on the spot, but since they're essentially criminals that will fight until they die I guess I can overlook that.

Inquisition is different from the regular Imperium. Inquisition is not some Imperium police force, really it's just bunch of different people that got hired by 1 inquisitor who has the Emperor's given mandate to do whatever the fuck he pleases, and they then go around solving mysteries and problems. And yes lot of it is regarding rooting out heresy, but Inquisitors due to having their "big picture" POV for most things in life, they are fine with looking the other way for previous crimes some guy might've committed if the guy proves to be useful.

Yes, inquisitors regularly hire ex-heretics and even criminals into the warbands due to their knowledge and experience in both heresy and criminal activities.
Some psyker running around calling Emps the "corpse Emperor" (an unsavory truth) just comes with the job, and not like it matters much anyway when the psyker still proves to be loyal at the end of the day and a good asset who can pop heretic heads like grapes.

Most shit in the Imperium are very rare and most lives imperial citizens live are extremely mundane. Zealots exist, but many of them are dealt with by the local enforcers because they realize that letting Greg the local arsonist to go running around with a flamer torching whoever he deems as a "heretic", is not a good thing and will have a bad effect on the local, vital manofactorum which is used to pump out important shit like ammunition and new flak armor for the guard.
Most imperial worlds can go for like 1000+ years without ever seeing marine let alone having on step onto the world.
