What are your hopes, fears, and expectations for star crossed world and air riders respectively?

My cope is for Star Crossed world to have more Elfilis stuff specifically. But in terms of actual hopes and expectations? Part of me wonders how the difficulty in Star Crossed will be handled since it seems like it's playable from the get-go, so I'm not sure they can go straight into HiAD challenge. I expect it to be somewhere between the main story n Forgo Dreams difficulty-wise. Visually it all looks very neat so far so I'm definitely hoping the final boss will be at least as much of a spectacle as Elfilis was. As for Air Riders... Honestly just hope it's fun, still haven't played the original to this day (too lazy to emulate and fuck grabbing a physical copy with the way GameCube prices are), so it'll probably be how I'm introduced to the actual gameplay unless the original comes to NSO before it which... would be an odd choice. I'm definitely curious about the track selection though, and given everything people say about City Trial, I really hope it's brought back with either a single bigger map or expanded into having a few different maps you can pick from.

I'm still a bit surprised they didn't go the route of letting you play as him alone in the Arena like how RtDL let you play as the mutliplayer characters after you beat it with Kirby, feels like it would've been a straightforward addition. Maybe the Switch 2 version will add something like that. I'd say they could probably throw Dedede and Meta Knight into the mix too but their "playable" role is somewhat filled by the Hammer and Sword upgrades in a sense.

i just hope it's good too, i've been steering away from seeing anything on the japanese release aside from that initial trailer, wish it was more akin to the original games but i'll probably get used to it and the clash between the new and returning characters when it drops.

I worry that it's going to just be a 1:1 copy of Air Ride but with better graphics that's dumbed down for casual players to enjoy such as removing its unique control scheme. Nothing new or exciting is added to the game.

Hard to know what to expect. The obvious answer is crystal reskins of the stage bosses plus some new boss like Magolor Epilogue, but that might not make sense if you can do it before beating the game. Maybe a harder Chaos fight like RtDX had?

It's going to be really hard to live up to the image of an Air Ride sequel that everyone's had in their heads for 20 years, but it should still be good even if it's just all Kirbies plus some more tracks, machines, and City Trial locations but it better control exactly the same sakurai i swear to fucking god. I wouldn't even mind Sakurai not pulling anything from other games, as long as we get new things that are interesting. I also hope they keep the Air Ride 1/GCN aesthetic. And maybe the online won't die in a week this time!
Sakurai directing the game also means a slightly higher chance of anime content, and if that happens, and Tiff's in it, I will grab a copy day one and play as /mygirl/ from now until the end of time.

Yeah, I rarely if ever see Marx x Kirby nowadays and to be honest Marx x Kirby is the oldfag version of Magolor x Kirby if that makes sense, not that Marx x Kirby is bad but that it's really rare to see nowadays unless you're actively looking for it. I like Marx x Shadow Kirby, it's very cute and the two pulling pranks and being ignored mischief makers is nice. I have managed to drag myself out of my creative rut by force and can finally work on the damn collab. It's just... really widely appealing in Japan, really. It's got neat stuff for everyone from the more cutesy display figures to the gachas. I remember seeing bath bombs at Don Quijote as well as some bubble toys, beyond a fairly big selection of plushies for what's effectively a budget chain (got myself a Magolor at one of 'em.) You don't know how fucking badly I wish Bandai would use the IP for that, be it a model kit or a playset of sorts. We have so many Kirby figures already, having a big ass Halberd to display them on would be great. Hell, they could probably do a "beginner's model kit" set with Whispy and Kirby or stuff like that if they wanted to, after seeing the Pokemon line. Really wish HAL would capitalize on that but they do seem to alredy have a lot of ways of capitalizing on the series as-is so maybe they just... don't think it's necessary.

There are so many things in the series that would make for amazing scale figure models. Castle Dedede, NOVA, The Access Ark, Star Dream, Gigavolt, The Lore Star Cutter, etc. HAL is great when it comes to creative looking machinery. Robobot is prime material for that sort of thing.
As much as I love the lean into makeup HAL is doing as of recent I do wish they'd make some more creative merchandise that's tailored towards hobbyist adults that are more expensive thus better quality. Scale figure model kits or even full on miniature scene and setting kits would be perfect for Kirby. Imagine a model kit that lets you build the Fountain of Dreams, you even get a little miniature Kirby and King Dedede and Nightmare. Or a scale cutaway illustration (think Christopher Cushman type stuff) styled Halberd model kit where you can build the individual parts of the Halberd. Hell, let me make Whispy Woods too. HAL is seriously missing out on a lot of money by not capitilizing on things that aren't cutesy plushies or trinkets like badges or acrylic keychains with the same five recycled illustrations. At least there's stuff like pic related to see as a reference point if you want to do it yourself.

Working on the Cave Story mod again, currently revamping tilesets to make sure it's all custom, trying to make the ground look mroe Kirby-y while still looking like Cave Story. Also added a bottomless pit warning like RtDL's since the scrolling background made it a bit hard to see it properly.

God isn't Magolor's epilogue just the coolest thing ever? The awesome remixes of the music, Magolor retreading Kirby's steps, playing as the final villain being punished for his treachery, stranded in some hell-dimension only running off of vague hopes to escape.

Magolor being a wizard as opposed to the four weapons-wielding heroes that took him down is also a very nice dynamic.

From what I understand it downloads the components necessary for the upgrade (higher resolution textures and the performance changes, and additional content in FL's case [it's 11GB]), and works with it as if it were just... Posting this game here since the more the devs share the more it looks like the sequel to Part Time UFO we likely won't get from HAL, at least for a good while. Trying to make it so every sprite for this is 100% custom and I'm nearly there... I swear this thing will release some day. There's way more unique sprites going in a single screen than you'd expect.

stuff like this makes me want to make a game but I have minimal knowledge about programming, I've only really dipped my toes into the hammer editor for map making, can't say I've ever tried making custom sprites, that might be fun.

Just sprite edits, I'm lucky Cave Story's final boss has some attacks that fit pretty well for Elfilis as-is. Custom attacks and the like involve Assembly hacking which I am... not nearly good enough at coding to be able to pull off (Assembly being basically just 1 degree of separation from raw binary afaik)

Figured making the ground spikes be the holospears Elfilis uses would be fitting, too. Currently overhauling a lot of the "particle" sprites for stuff like hitting an invincible enemy or wall, and smoke when some attacks land on the floor.

Alright, fully overhauled the area, very satisfied with the end result.

I hate to sound like a schizophrenic but that entire app screamed "data scam" from the very get go top to bottom and I saw that breach from a mile away. It genuinely scares me how the internet gets more and more flagrant with its lack of care for personal information. I know the means of which those IDs used for verification were breached because of poor planning on the site's security aspect (If I recall correctly, the reason it was all leaked was because it was kept in an open database of some kind that was easily accessible) so it isn't like the leak of those IDs were intentional. It just confuses me how something like the IDs of thousands of thousands of users weren't better protected.
There's something about the site, it's purpose, and the general scheme that screams red flag. Like, everything about the app was tailored made to generate and get as many people to join as possible. The exclusivity, the supposed noble purpose, the way it perfectly baits those who like to gossip and make drama. It's like that "4chan Dating Site" Duolicious.
Isn't it common sense that the only time you'll ever need or want to expose something as vulnerable as your ID to a website is if it were, at the very least, a government property of some kind like a background check for a government job and even then that's usually done in person?

Honestly, it's a shame this is the direction we're going because I have a fear this is new plan to test the water for how much control they can get away with and if there's not enough push back we're going to see more countries, governments, and any other high power take notes. Protect your identity and data at all costs if you can.
