I am talking about the whole shebang: severe limited resource, craft book required for field craft, pickaxes with chance of being broken, no resource listing on map or anything, each armor set gives you 2 or 3 skills at most, also no layered armor / weapon

Having a chicken mount run you through the maps on-rails also detracts from the immersive experience of needing to traverse a map on foot. Everything Capcom has done with Wilds actively fights against their own "goal" of building an immersive game world.

A lot of the QoL features fuck with the immersion, I also hate how video gamey the map is. For a game meant to take place in uncharted territory, there is awfully little the game lets you find on your own.
The immersion is at its best when you just roam around on foot trying to see what you can find, but the game very rarely rewards that kind of exploration outside of a few camp locales that don't show up on the map until you find them.
