Try setting up a tile-based system in the background.
If you really want to get weird, you can try translating docs and code for JS-Slash-Runner (actually pretty simple if you feed it to an LLM, google translate, and just read the code) and have automatically updated/injected map reasoning for each character.
You might also be able to get a facsimile with a good enough model to do tile spaces, ST vars, and copious amount of regex. Just have the model output a space, keep track of the last space, and have a very long list of adjacent tiles in the A/N that gets regexed out if the info for the position is empty or nobody's on the tile. Will probably lag the shit out of ST though.

Golden age in the sense that the community was unified, sure. But the technology has only gotten better. Like we're at the point where we have "worst case scenario" models (DS V3/R1) that are roughly comparable to an unfiltered version of Furbo/arguably better than Claude 2.1. Proxy era is over but all the desirable models except Opus are easily to scum or even affordable to pay for.
I think the issue a lot of people have developed stems from the fact that the majority of fresh blood who would have interest in chatbots has been depleted.
