Is there an explanation why pretty much no one acknowledges Ralsei in chapter 2?
Noelle vaguely mentions someone hanging out with Susie, but then pretty much nothing until he speaks up at the end.
Queen forgets about him while he's standing right there. Noelle makes a plan for the mouse puzzle that involves her, Kris, and Susie. Ralsei has to join in on Susie's role just to have something to do.
I get that it might prompt Noelle from revealing more Asriel information than we're supposed to know, but there should have really been something.
Maybe like Kris, she could just not see the resemblance since they were such close friends as kids.
It definitely would have helped with the perception that Susie is the only character that matters if Ralsei got a few more lines to share with other characters so he could move the plot along. Chapter 1 did this well because he's the only one who actually understands the goal at first, and Susie was completely uncooperative.
But then in chapter 2, Susie's already motivated to save Noelle, so there's really no need for Ralsei's guidance.

That's why Ralsei is so sketchy and why there's so much lore about dark, eyes, hands etc. How can you "see" in what is basically double dark? In the only way you can "see", through your mind's eye, your third eye. Ralsei breaks it down as "fake" because he knows the dream will end, but Gerson knows things can be reinterpreted. That's how you beat a self fulfilling prophecy, changing the expectations and behavior. We are the behavior change.
This is all about Kris trauma. I just don't know what the trauma is because there's so many contradictions. Kris seems fond of Asgore, but not the conspiracy board. Kris blocks ALL contact with Asgore beyond chapter 1 if possible. Dess is like, turbo blocked down to the code. Kris reacts to Spamton, both routes. Kris avoids the bunker. Kris avoids playing.
But, whatever trauma they're blocking, Noelle is involved, because Snowgrave is her own trauma coming back.

He's basically male Toriel, at least in a very superficial sense, in terms of his appearance, his tutorials, and even stuff like his baking. Toriel is the uniting factor between Kris, Susie, and the SOUL (since we've canonically played Undertale) so it makes sense that she'd be his "base."
Another point in favor of the "Ralsei was formless and shapeshifted into his current appearance" theory is that you could easily interpret him being especially proud of his face as him deliberately designing an appealing face.

On the one hand, you can't reward players for playing right without also punishing them for playing wrong, even if that punishment is just a less than perfect ending.
On the other, You still want to give the players the tools to get a decent ending if they just pay attention and put in the legwork.
I didn't really care about pacifism all that much on my first Undertale playthrough. I didn't really understand that you can only get the true ending by playing pacifist. The game does have flowey tell the player "You did it wrong, try it again the right way" if you don't kill him after a neutral ending. But I didn't exactly see a reason not to kill him.
Maybe call it a moral test to see if you're worthy of the good ending, but It's still weird that it's the only place to get that kind of hint. A player who would spare such an evil being probably wouldn't be thinking about when violence is or isn't appropriate.
After that playthrough, I thought the ending was a bit bad. So I went and looked up what people thought about it, and oops. I got spoiled that Flowey is Asriel.

Most of the SOULs have no obvious relation to where their stuff is found, and some directly contradict this reasoning (eg. Yellow SOUL's equipment is found right before you defeat Mettaton with the Yellow SOUL mode)
There's also no reason to assume that the other humans faced the same obstacles in the Underground when most of the bosses (certainly Papyrus and Mettaton, probably Undyne too) would not have been present to stop them many years in the past when they fell. Even the most recent human fell down a "very long time" ago according to Toriel.

Asgore is waiting for humans to fall into the underground because those people are not likely to be missed by human society, so when the barrier is broken the monsters could maybe diplomatically co-exist with humanity. the monsters already lost once, breaking the barrier and going straight back to war is risky.
Asgore, despite his past anger, is very much not a warmonger. Meanwhile, Toriel is the one who abdicated responsibility to protect her pride over the future of her people, except a little forcefulness from the humans under her care and she lets them through the door to die.
