I appreciate that they added an option to lower the chance of Watchtower encounters but when you still get one at a low level with a slow ship you are still pretty much fucked. There should be an option instead to delay the quest.

I uninstalled the mod. I have way too many characters to infect them with an unbalanced mod.

The game could use at least 2 or 3 large handcrafted natural locations per vegetated biome thrown into the procgen to help make exploring them feel less...flat most of the time. Maybe at least make these locations the size of the Dauntless Crew's Crash Site or even bigger

A new thing that annoys me about Watchtower. The initial encounter where you first see the ships, it gives you the option to attack them but its completely pointless as one of the ships is essential and will always stun you. Also that Stun beam thing, it always hits you even if it misses your ship. Its fucking bullshit. If I don't want to engage with the mod right away I should have the option to ignore it like with the trackers alliance

Those things are the least of its issues, and not even as bad as you think.

The main problem with this game is how it doesn't trust you to find the actual contents of space interesting, it infantilizes you by only handing you the controller on the "interesting" parts, it doesn't trust you to enjoy the mechanical pleasure of a perfect take off/landing and those quiet transitory moments of traversal. It always wants to get you to the next "scene" which is puzzling because Skyrim and Fallout both understood that the journey is the point. The journey creates the momentum that makes getting somewhere meaningful.

Dunno what your problem is with the main 4 companions, but I like that they're not Yes Men that sucks you off and actually stands up to their opinions. If that's your issue it's probably because we don't get more of that tier of companions from more backgrounds other than Constellation

(The guy that did Riften and Thieves Guild was the lead on the companions but I don't know who did the individual ones. Did you guys like the soundtrack? I think most of them meander too much, then builds up some nice tune, then meander again with whatever noise before it gets real good. Some exceptions ofc like Deep Freeze, Into the Starfield, A Home in the Galaxy. World Machine has some good tune but has too much white noise before it gets to the good part.

Pretty much, yes. They call it palette music and Soule did the same thing for Skyrim, except Soule had so many tracks with clear rhythms that were trying to steal the moment, not fitting in.

Zur didn't do Palette music until FO4; that entire soundtrack was all ambiance with barely any buildup to something. Starfield soundtrack is less egregious and the overall direction for the instruments was more interesting IMO.

Speaking of Fallout, I just got around to doing the First Contact quest again, and since I only did it once in my original universe around the time of the game's release, I forgot how much the ECS Constant was similarly designed to a Vault-Tec Vault, particularly like Vault 81 from Fallout 4. I also see the potential for a Live Another Life mod to start you off in this ship.

I've never heard this, it's just something that people said, but never heard a dev that it was only going to be 2 dlcs.

What they actually said is that they wanted to support this game for about 10 years, but I don't think they explicitly said how many story expansions they were going to actually do. For all we know, it's mostly going to be updates and small Creations content, however I did hear about a datamine of Shattered Space a while back that said that there were empty dialogue lines from Constellation companions that suggests that there's at least a 3rd story expansion planned.

I don't really think so considering the track record of their past games. Every game since Morrowind has had 2 or 3 major story expansions with some having smaller DLCs that introduced new gameplay elements, such as horse armor and buildable homesteads. And I have a feeling that even if the Starborn DLC isn't well received, Bethesda might go through with a 3rd story expansion anyway if that's something they actually have planned.
